There’s no way Lydia--oldest and most responsible of the tight-knit Rodriguez clan--is going to let her nosy family find out about the uncharacteristic work screw-up that landed her a paid suspension. To keep busy and avoid panic, she enrolls in a life enrichment class. The first guest speaker is a handsome artist with a wicked smile and eyes that melt right through her.

Even the “ice princess” can’t help but feel an immediate spark that lights her blood on fire.

Isaac Ortiz is unquestionably the sexiest man Lydia has ever met. The talented son of a famous Spanish artist, he’s constantly moving from one new glamorous city to another, working if and when the muse visits him.

He also has a stare that makes Lydia’s heart race and hands that look more than capable of making her scream with pleasure. She shouldn’t be attracted to this free-spirit who makes all his own rules--but she is.

There’s just one hiccup....Isaac is nineteen.

Lydia has lived her entire life firmly inside the box, and being with a younger man is definitely outside the safe confines she enjoys.

So why can’t she stay away from him? And why is she seriously considering his proposition to take off to a place she’s never been...just because?

When Lydia is invited back to work with a cleared name, she should be overjoyed.

But the reality is, Lydia doesn’t know what anchors her life anymore...or if she wants to be anchored at all. Should she travel the world with Isaac? Or continue down the road that she’s worked long and hard to pave for herself? Choosing one means losing the other, and Lydia isn’t sure if she’s ready to drift with the current that’s pulling her by the heart.

I have no idea what to say for this review. I have loved this series from the moment I started reading Lengths, and to have Drift, the final book in my hands was an emotional moment. I was beyond excited to have a copy to read, but also sad as I knew it would be the last, it actually felt like I was losing a friend.

I was initially meant to get a copy of Drift for review as part of the blog tour, but a few delays with Steph and Liz making some final adjustments meant they were not ready on time, but we were able to add our email to have a copy gifted to us. When I saw that Drift had been released early I was one second away from clicking buy to get a copy, as I wasn't sure when I would be gifted a copy. When I found an email alerting me to my gift. I may have done a happy dance when I saw the email...and carried it one while I downloaded Drift. I literally dropped everything to read Drift, and I vegged out in bed for a few hours with Pepsi and grapes to keep me going. I did not move and even ignored my cats attention seeking purrs to read. Nothing was going to stop me from finishing this book...nothing.

I'm Lydia Rodriguez.
Stone Cold Lydia Rodriguez.
I can handle anything.

I absolutely, beyond a doubt, loved this book. I loved getting to see a different side to Lydia and seeing how Isaac can bring it out of her. Not so straight laced and serious with some very very sexy times. I love the chemistry between this duo that is so instantaneous, yet takes forever for them to do something about it. We also get to see a different side to CeCe which I thought was hilarious.

The epilogue had me crying before I even started reading it, I knew it was the final chapter in this series and I was crying knowing this would be the end of it all, but I bravely fought through the tears to read it, and what an epilogue it was. I loved everyone and everything about it (see how I'm not giving away hints) and it was the most perfect ending to this series, it was so much more than I expected it to be, it went above and beyond my expectations. I have copies of all of this series on my kindle app, but I NEED to get these for my bookshelves.

Great Read

This book was a blessing after just reading a lesser read. The story was wonderful full of love and triumph over one's self doubt.

Rating: Top Shelf Pass the Mezcal & crank up the Jimenez, Drift will make you feel, hear, see and taste everything that is passionate about life, love and family!

Just loved it.  I will always come back to Steph Campbell & Liz Reinhardt when I need a fun, romantic, sensual story to overcome my senses.  I looked up the art work, salivated over the mentioned meals and currently have the earbuds in, listening to Jose Alfredo Jimenez; reminiscing about the days on my Grandfather's patio while listening to Jimenez and Ronstadt that blared over the loud conversations of the 30+ family members that came for carne asada.

The Silver Strand series books are all stand alone, but trust me, you'll fall in love with the Rodriguez family.  Drift focuses on the eldest Rodriguez daughter, Lydia.  She finds herself on 'mandatory paid vacation' and in the process reexamines her life and whether or not she is happy with the results of her hard work.
When I’m ready to go back and start new, I don’t want to make the same mistakes. I don’t want to be shallow and waste my time with guys who I pick based on their career motivations. I want to be cherished.
Campbell, Steph; Reinhardt, Liz (2013-11-10). Drift (Lengths) (Kindle Locations 725-727). . Kindle Edition.

She's been screwed over by someone she thought was mature enough to provide a future with high expectations. Unfortunately, the cut-throat world she was living in shows her exactly what she would be getting involved in.
I glare at Richard. Right now, Medusa herself would be scared of the face I’m making. But Richard still looks at his hands like a handsome, chisel-jawed lump of fucking shit I’m going to murder with my bare hands.
Campbell, Steph; Reinhardt, Liz (2013-11-10). Drift (Lengths) (Kindle Locations 75-77). . Kindle Edition.

With her career in peril and the prospect of finding a new boyfriend on the backburner, she starts her journey on what her life has become and what she wants from it now. Fortunately, Isaac comes into her life, as her professor. Brilliant and wise, he makes the leap to pursue Lydia. Even though every thought in Lydia's brain tells her it's a bad idea (dating someone younger, dating her professor, coming out of a bad "relationship"), every cell in her body tells her to take the chance and do what makes her happy, for now.
Nineteen or not— I want.
Campbell, Steph; Reinhardt, Liz (2013-11-10). Drift (Lengths) (Kindle Location 1841). . Kindle Edition.

Isaac breaks down her walls with his passion for life. His own paintings touch her and his reverence for her family, religion and art open her eyes to the endless possibilities. I found myself looking up the art pieces he describes, and appreciating the detail in the depiction.
“What will you do with these?” she asks.
I shrug. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, will you display them?” Her fingers reach down for that bit of sheet again, and I realize she’s spooked about other people seeing them.
“I can’t share these with anyone,” I tell her.
She looks up, relieved, then suspicious. “Why?”
“Because men will fall in love. With you. And some of them will be better men than me. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to hold you, Lydia . I don’t know how I’ll be able to keep you with me, and I’m a jealous asshole. If other men saw these and wanted you, I’d fight like crazy. And then I’d have broken hands and no more career.” I smile at her, and she smiles back.
Campbell, Steph; Reinhardt, Liz (2013-11-10). Drift (Lengths) (Kindle Locations 3140-3147). . Kindle Edition.

I just loved this book and I realized that there are many superficial goals and characteristics that I share with Lydia. I really appreciated the break down of her ego only to rebuild it with so much meaning.
I think back to the many quips and pokes I was sure would be hilarious, but wound up sending one of my sisters stomping away furious or in tears. Or one of my brothers shaking his head and telling me to tone down the asshole.

3.5 to 4 stars. This book was gifted to me by the authors and therefore I will be writing an honest review. This is the last in the Lengths series, and one of the better stories. I was very apprehensive about this story, as it is Lydia's story and Lydia always seemed like a total bitch in all of the other books. I mean, who would want to read a love story where the heroine is a bitch - and not in a good way. But, guess what, after Lydia is placed on suspension from her job as a lawyer, she softens. Unfortunately, I think the softening that took place was a bit rushed, and it seemed like we saw a different Lydia from the get go. One that I had a hard time believing was the same character. If I had read this as a stand alone, I would have loved Lydia and thought, yes, she is a bit of a hard ass, but love from family - and a sexy professor - could soften her to a heroine that I really liked.

So, I decided half way into this story that I would just take Lydia as she is in this story, and stop trying to compare her to the way she was in all of the other books. Once I let go, I enjoyed the story. Lydia takes the fall for her secret lover, and co-worker, Richard, which places her on a paid suspension from the firm that she has worked so hard to become a junior partner, at the young age of 24. She does not know what to do with herself, so she decides to enroll in a course at the local college (where her sister, Cece incidentally also teaches at). The course is kind of a mish mash of topics, with different lecturers. Enter the art lecturer, Isaac Ortiz, an extremely sexy, passionate transplant from Spain. Upon first glance, Lydia is attracted - I mean, come on, he is gorgeous. But, she knows that taking that attraction any further is not a good idea. Until she decides, screw it and she lets Isaac in.

Isaac Ortiz has always been in the shadow of his famous artist father. He decides to move out from under his shadow and make his own way in America. He accepts a guest lecturer position, while also continuing his painting. He meets Lydia Rodriguez in his class and is immediately drawn to her. She has a maturity that the other women he has been exposed to do not have and he decides to pursue her. Even when she continually shoots him down, he eventually wins her over - even with the age difference. You see, even though he is a lecturer at the college, he is only 19, while Lydia, he finds out is 26. Honestly, the age difference did not bother me at all, and did not really seem like an issue for either Isaac or Lydia, since their maturity level was almost equal.

As I mentioned earlier, this is the last book in this series, and I think the one constant, that was even more apparent in Lydia's story, was that of family. Not since Gen's story Limits (Lengths, #3) by Steph Campbell have we seen the entire Rodriguez family so prominent in the story. Even Deo's family played a large part in this book (and Deo is always fun for a laugh). The love that the Rodriguez's have for each other is a character in itself, and the fact that Isaac always yearned for a family like Lydia's makes this story even more sweet.

I don't think any one of us-Beckett or Rodriguez-has ever taken for granted the unique bond and love that the matriarchs of our two families have for all of us. Both my mother and Marigold have considered all of us their children-even the boyfriends and girlfriends of our collective group.

And in the end, we get to see all of the Rodriguez, and even the Beckett siblings - and their significant others - together for one last time. This series had some real winners, Lengths by Steph Campbell being my favorite, with some not so wonderful (Cohen's story was a snore), but family was always the common theme, and I loved that about this series.

I'm Lydia Rodriguez. Stone Cold Lydia Pitbull Rodriguez. I can handle anything.

Lydia Rodriguez has always been the tough one, the bossy lawyer with an attitude. She's driven, successful, and all about control and career. But now one mistake has put her career in jeopardy and changed her whole life. So she is going to make the most out of her unscheduled sabbatical and take a life development class.

I'll recharge by doing every goddamn bad thing I've ever wanted to do. Twice. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I'm about to become a goddess of vengeance.

Isaac Ortiz is a resident artist and guest lecturer at the University. She immediately makes in impression on the young, professor who has all of the college girls in a tizzy. But Lydia is not looking for love or complications and there is an age difference. But Isaac is pretty mature and determined. And so begins the chase.

The more time they spend together, the more Lydia learns what she has been missing in life--passion, enjoyment, real connections, and feelings. And she provides inspiration to Isaac as well. They have strong chemistry and a deep compatibility. He seems much older than his age and she seems younger as she learns to let go. But there are complications and a time limit. He is just a guest lecturer and eventually she has to deal with her job.

I enjoyed getting to see a more stripped down version of Lydia. She had a softer side under all of those layers of armor she usually wore. I honestly never really liked her much in the other books. She was always kind of bossy, authoritative, closed off, and hard. But in this one, we see her vulnerable side. She begins to change and realize what is really important in life.

Isaac. Wow! He really did not seem nineteen. He definitely was an old soul and has a worldly charm about him. But we also saw growth in his character from being a playboy with no attachments to wanting a connection so bad that it was all he could think about. He had his past insecurities that filtered into his present. But he was strong, intelligent, sweet, passionate, and sexy.

"And there's nothing more beautiful than a woman who dares you to rise to the challenge of being enough for her."

He's freed me. It's scary as hell, soaring up here with nothing holding me back...He unlocked something in me and then threw the key away. The old cage can't hold me anymore.

But are their worlds too different to co-exist? And what happens when time runs out?

I loved spending more time with the whole crazy Rodriguez-Beckett clan. This book focused more on Cece, Cohen, Maren, Deo and Whit. OMG I still just adore Deo and Cohen. They seriously crack me up! I appreciated Cece more in this one as well. She was so much fun and it was nice to see more of a relationship form between her and Lydia. It was fitting to get updates on the whole clan and to bring them together. These characters have such strong relationships and bonds. They are a beautiful mix of of fun and crazy and just keep bringing in more members. They love hard, fight hard, and protect their family. The way they like to tease each other just shows what a true family they are. I really enjoyed Lydia and Isaac's story. It is sad that this is the end of the Silver Strand series, but I am looking forward to more in the spin off series with the first one titled Almost Lover featuring more with Enzo in California.

Thanks to Steph Campbell and Liz Reinhardt for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review. Will be Posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim.

Drift is the final installment of the Silver Strand Series. I felt it was the best one. Lydia is the oldest of the Rodriguez clan. The one who was on top of her game through out the entire series or so it seemed. From the very onset we get a glimpse of Lydia as the uptight, career climbing snob who looked down on everything her younger siblings were doing, so through out the series she is considered to be a royal bitch. I almost didn't read her story because really why would one want to read a story where the lead character is uptight. I'm so glad I did! The story opens with Lydia falling from the top of her career ladder and being betrayed by her co-worker/lover leaving her to take the fall for his incompetence. Deciding to lay low for a while and take a class or two at the university proved to be just what she needed in her life. Although she was just going through the motions while she waited on her firm to come to it's senses in walks Isaac Ortiz a beyond sexy artist, guest lecturer from Spain who has traveled around the world with his art. Sparks fly immediately for him. For her it takes a little prodding not just from him but from her intellect professor sister who also teaches at the university before Lydia realizes that maybe she's been going about life the wrong way. Only problem there's a huge age difference between them. Making her a cougar at the tender age of 26...

This writing duo did an outstanding job of bringing the story full circle and keeping the entire Beckett-Rodriguez clan involved without making it seem like one big book. Will definitely go on my "will read again" shelf.

Ok, first the rant. I don't understand why the authors made Issac 19, because it wasn't at all believable in this case. Why make Issac 19 if he's already earned an undergrad and masters degree, is a (known) professional artist and a professor? He also talks about the many women he's been with and that the ones he almost loved took him months/years to get to that place. That doesn't make any sense when he's only 19. If they wanted to make the age difference the source of conflict, why not make him a college student? As it was, the age thing barely caused any conflict. A better source of conflict would have been Issac's parents or the paintings of Lydia. And really, Lydia is only 26 (I honestly thought she was at least 30 from reading the other books), so it's only 7 years.

That said, I did love this book. I loved it as much as the first 3 and more than the fourth and fifth. Lydia and Issac are both great characters, funny and passionate. Lydia is going through a work crisis and through that gets in touch with here more human side. I loved her interactions with Cece (why doesn't she get her own book?) and the rest of clan Rodriguez.

The best chapters in the book are the chili dinner with Deo and Whit and the epilogue. I love the supporting characters so much, I would read a book just about their interactions. The epilogue was very touching and wrapped up the series nicely.

I highly recommend this series, I've really come to love the characters. I will miss them. Hopefully, they will visit Enzo.

P.S. Write CeCe her own book/novella please!

I liked the book but I wasn't in love with it, like I was with the other books in the series. Isaac, the man is such a ladies man I tell you what, "I feel his heat against my back. "I always like firsthand information best. But, on the off chance that I'm told 'no', I'll throw my morals to the wind and dig out what I need to know from any source I can find." But he is ALL man, "I can feel him from my chest down to my thighs. He's hot and hard and...very hard. I can feel how ready he is." And he's all bossy which you got to love in a man (at times), "all you need is a dress. Don't bother wearing anything underneath. And don't worry about showering. I'm happy to lick the salt off every inch of your body." Lydia she sometimes like to point out the obvious in certain situations, "you're very hard," she says, rubbing her hand over the head of my co** through the fabric of my boxers."

I feel out of all the Silver a Sands series this is my favourite.
Lydia has always come across as the Ice Queen but after a turn of events at the law office she works at she questions and re examines her life, especially after taking up an art course and meeting the gorgeous Isaac Ortiz.
Reading their story I could feel the attraction between these two and imagine the sexy Spanish accent flowing from Isaccs mouth, like liquid chocolate!
No matter that he is younger than her, love is love and I love reading the progression of their love story and the hilarity that is the Rodriguez family, Deo included!
I connected with Lydia wanting to have a better relationship with her siblings. I know what that's like.

I've loved this series and I'm sad it's over. This was tied for my favorite in the series with Adam & Gens story. My only complaint is the ending. To be the finale of the series the conclusion came to quickly for me and left too many questions. I felt as though the authors spun this fabulous story and at the very end decided they needed to wrap everything up in a short epilogue that in my opinion didn't do the series justice. I know they have said this is the end of Silverstrand but I'm hoping they've left an opening for a reunion novel of sorts where all of the Rodriguezs and Becketts come full circle. Wow I'm going to miss these characters!

Really liked it. Honestly, I love the Silver Strand world that Steph Campbell and Liz Reinhardt have created. I love the setting, and the people, and how they're all interconnected. This last installment is no different. Lydia came off as a know-it-all and kind of annoying in the previous books. She's still kind of a know-it-all but she's not as mean and/or heartless as everyone makes her out to be. I really enjoyed her story, and learning about why she is the way she is. I also really liked Isaac, who didn't seem/come off as young as he is. They were a good match, and I'm really glad Lydia got her story and a happy ending.

So very glad Steph Campbell brought this book back to the basics as the past Lengths books. After reading Enzo's book I was worried, but this book was fabulous!!! Loved the addition of Issac to the cast of characters...he made the perfect lover for Lydia. This book also made you understand and love Lydia...love the 180 of her character. Sad to see this series come to an end, but glad I waited til they was all released before I started them!! Would highly recommend!!!

While I love this series and the authors, I have to say there were some editing mistakes that kept me from rating this a 5! However, the story itself was FABULOUS!! I love Lydia and the growth she makes throughout the story. She changes so much and it's all for the better. Issac is super hot and uber focused. I can't wait for more in this series.

3-3.5 stars. The biggest shocker is that the best story from this series includes the bitchy sister. This book had more sexyness and meaning than the other 4. A decent read.
