A self-published NaNoWriMo effort (full-disclosure: the author's a co-worker of mine), but at the "slush pile" not-ready-for-publication status. There are indeed parts I liked, but there are others including style issues, missing fact-checking, self-contradictory (or at least short-term-memory-deficient) characters, and repeated 4th-wall-breaking filler, that didn’t work for me as a reader.
"Sorry Marlin, I just found Nemo," he snickered to himself. Now how a dolphin has any knowledge of a Disney Pixar movie is none of my business and it certainly isn't any of yours, so just stop over analysing and enjoy the story!

I loved this book! I devoured it because it was well-written, funny, meaningful, and very entertaining.
