Students and beginning counselors can turn to this helpful guide to get the concepts, techniques, interventions, strategies, and skills they achieve effective results with their clients. Every step of the counseling process is covered, from initial client contact to relationship building, assessment, goal setting strategy selection, treatment planning, and finally evaluation and termination.
The Professional Counsellor is a good starter book for those looking to begin a career in helping others through the hills and valleys of life. It is extremely comprehensive for an introductory counselling psychology course covering everything from the skills needed for counselling to specific interventions. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in counselling or actively involved in counselling already.
I've read about a third of this, and probably will pick it up sporadically to get through it. But don't need it to sit on my good reads until I do actually finish it.
