Superb

This is writing at it’s best. I have enjoyed many of Author Cheree Alsops books and would highly recommend her work. She is the ultimate story teller, drawing one into her books with ease. I read them with gusto, hanging on every word, feeling as though I’m right there with the characters. Whom are full of life, each one an anintricate character, you can’t help but believe in and love. You feel like you know them and are invested in their lives, rooting on the good guy’s.

This book was no exception, it lives up to what I’ve come to expect from Author Cheree Alsop and then some. Her characters are diverse, multi dimensional with real personalities. Her ability to draw one in and keep them interested in the story of these peoples lives, is amazing. I can’t say enough about this book or her writing.

Now, I’m quickly onto book two, where I’ve been left with bated breath, to find out what happens next.

Action, romance, and loyalty

An entertaining read that kept me turning the page, Heart of the Wolf Part One had a great mix of action, adventure, romance, and loyalty. I loved the role the shifters played and the author’s take on those characters.

The clean romance and lack of profanity are refreshing and appropriate for any age. The violence is well depicted and appropriate for teens and adults.

Heart of the Wolf is the first of a two-part story featuring Fade, a wolf shapeshifter, and his new life.

Fade's family was killed for the simple reason that they were shape shifters. Now Fade has been dragged before the king for a beheading simply because of what he is. Saved by an unlikely source, Fade becomes the personal body guard to Prince Edric. But no one can know that Fade the wolf is one and the same as Falkin the man.

Saving the life of the king and prince who spared him is Fade's only goal... until he meets a girl who just might divide his loyalty.

I love this heartrending tale of love, not just between a man and a woman, but between two men as close as brothers. Between a young man and a father figure. Between a man and a little girl. Fade finds a new family, if he can save them.

I just LOVE Cheree Alsop's brain. She comes up with the most interesting stories and characters. In this book, Fade is a shifter in a world that shifters are killed for being shifters. After his family was brutally murdered, he went all wolf for years. After he decided to live as a man, he is caught by the King's hunters and severely beaten. When Fade is put in front of the King and Prince Edric, Edric sees something in Fade that he likes. They decide to save his life and he will become the Prince's personal bodyguard, in wolf form. When Fade meets Princess Kelianna, he feels whole for the first time. But she's already claimed.
This is the 4th series I've read by Ms. Alsop and she has made into my top 5 writers. I love the way she builds a character that you know them and feel what they are feeling. I can just fall into her books and let them all take me away.

Cheree Alsop doesn't disappoint with the first in this series.

Fade - honestly love how she's built this character, from the first page we're immediately rooting for him. So strong but with so much pain to cope with.

Loved Edrick too, empathy as well as being royalty, I really liked he wasn't the typical 'bad guy' Royal. It made a really nice change.

The sweetness of his time with the family, slightly jarred with their reaction to his love (I won't go into detail) but I was a bit shocked with each reaction. I'd expected more of them, for the guy who continually saves their lives.

But brilliantly written - a 1am finish it kept me that hooked! Thank goodness for kindle is all I'll say - ensure you have book 2 ready and waiting!!

Cheree Aslop is one of my favorite authors. I came across this book when she was giving her books away daily during the holidays. I started this book and was surprised when it just jumped right in the story. It was heartbreaking reading about Fade's story. He has gone through so much in his short life. I cried in so many parts because of what he has endured so far. This book was amazing and can't wait to start part 2.

I loved this book. It is a great fantasy book, with true characters, with love and with action.
I think it will love everybody, who loves shifters or fantasy. The boys will love for the action, for the twist, and girls/woman will love for the true emotions in the story, the friendship and love.
But if I can, I advise you, to buy the 2 too, before you read it. It’s worth.

A mile wide and an inch deep

Although shallow without much in the way of depth or layered characters or an intricate weave of subplots, this story nonetheless engages the reader with decent writing, good editing, and plenty of swashbuckling. The romantic aspect of the story is sweet and clean. This is something suitable for adolescent readers and those who like gentle tales of chivalry and honor.

Cliffhanger

Lord I hate cliffhangers and this is a doozy. The only saving grace is the second book is already out. To be continued:

A very fast read that has a nice story but lacks depth. Things just seem to go too right for the main character even when they are going wrong, if you know what I mean. There were very few surprises and not much character development which had the book speeding along at ablistering pace. Highlights for me were relatively trivil things such as the main characters name, Fade. Love that! I also enjoyed the connection he developes with the cranky warhorse named Fathom. Prince Edric was a likeable fellow but at the first true test of his trust in Fade he crumbled and that left me annoyed for the remainder of the book. Though it isn't listed as YA there was nothing in this first book that would prevent me from saying it is suitable for the 12 and up crowd.

An interesting fantasy story about shapeshifters. The characters could have been fleshed out a little, and the head-popping made it a little hard to follow.
