Christy Walsh is struggling with life after her parents' deaths and her own attempted suicide. Devin Malone is her older brother’s best friend. Tall and handsome, his charisma and cheeky smile made him the first crush of many girls, including Christy. Now that they’re both in their twenties, she sees him as her sworn enemy but also the reason she is still alive. All things considered, she owes him everything no matter how much she has sworn to loathe his existence. With a house to herself and Devin as a house guest, things begin to go from bad to worse.
I am currently working on a few new exciting projects and will be giving away free copies of some great stories in exchange for feedback!
The main project is a new book I am writing in dedication for a friend! I really want to make sure it's special and does her proud! (and is a hot read!)
I am also in the process of rewriting My Brother's Best Friend, and two sequels (a book on Emily the sister, and a prequel about Devin), My Brother's Best Friend was written many years ago, and which I'd like to retell as an older and more experienced writer (and person!). They were very sweet characters, and I would like to go into a bigger emotional depth with them (and add some more steaminess...!)
I will be giving free copies in exchange for some feedback! (Anything negative or positive! Even if it's a few lines, - 'I loved it' 'Hated it' or 'Did not finish it' or anything in particular that stood out...
It's really special to me and close to my heart that it is a good read...
This will only be for a short time on their completion. Please let me know if you'd be interested in flicking through these stories for me!
Please message me, leave a comment or email me at beckyandrews11@gmail.com!
Form the beginning of this book i absolutely loved Devin.I thought Christy was very blind not to see his strong love.but then i realized that once upon a time Christy did have a huge crush on him and he just embarrassed her in front of the whole school because of it.So karma-wise he deserves it.And plus it adds to wonderful drama in this book.In the drama department this book gets 99 on 100. there is love, hate ,friendship, rivalry, embarrassment ,loss, sacrifice, loyalty and backstabbing moments in his book that people will enjoy. Christy is bullied and experiences another blow when her parents are killed in an accident. She recovers from an attempted suicide by the help of her brothers best friend Devin who later on becomes on of her friends and she helps her older brother keep the family together by sacrificing her dreams.Devin is in love with her.She had a crush on him which she got over when he publicilly humiliated her from high school. And to top it all off her younger sister who doesn't like her that much has a crush on Devin.
The female character in this book, CJ, is annoying to me. Why? Because she's obviously has hots for her brother's best friend, Devin, yet she keeps denying it. But apparently, Devin once ruin her life in high school, so she actually hate him. But when Devin comes around her house smiling and all, she melts and follow him around. I was like, whaaa?
Girl, make up your dang mind. All I can get is CJ is so caught up with her head she didn't even see nothing else. From small parts that I read, CJ was . But I think the author add this problem to make drama but didn't make it. It fell flat and not interesting.
Not to mention the thing with Eric? I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think CJ is pretty dumb. Sorry not sorry.
Overall, this book is not my cup of tea despite the fact that I love this kind of plot; the whole falling for your brother's best friend.
I think Ms. Andrews did an excellent job of telling the story of what happened to Christy in High School. She did a wonderful job telling of Christy's thoughts and feelings, of what she has gone through and is still going through 4 years later.
It is a story of love and betrayal. A story of the fight to have a good life and the sacrifices that are made for those we love.
It is a story of finding ones self and accepting who we are and others for who they are.
This is a very heartfelt story. I made me laugh and cry. And now I have a crush on Devin too. ;-)
i have one thing to say about this book THESE GUYS DIDNT USE A CONDOM THE ENTIRE TIME!!! THEY DESERVE TO GET STDS THE NASTYS
this was a massively cliche book but obviously i knew that going in, it’s nothing i’ve never read before however i did like that christy wasn’t 17 like in most others like this, and the backstory and how it dealt with mental health was really good! thats probably what bumped up this story up to 4 stars!
however i reallyyyyyy hated that whole thing with her sister! SHE DIDNT KNOW SO HOW TF CAN YOU SHOUT AT HER FOR ‘ RUINING EVERYTHING’ like wtf christy hun it really wasn’t her fault how was she to know that you were in love, and for you to ignore devin?! you literally said yourself that it wasn’t his fault so why did you ignore him bitch
anywayyyys solid book, it was just what i was looking for but won’t be one of those that stays with me forever i gottta admit
DNF @29% the heroine spends 4 years not telling anybody the bad thing that happened to her in highschool, then she sees the dude involved in the thing and she just instantly tells the hero what happened? Lol. No. I was really enjoying it before that but that's just so stupid to me that if I did continue even though it's a small thing it would really bother me the rest of the book and I just don't wanna deal with that.
I liked the story and how it was developed, but at the end it was so weird, like everything needed to happen at once and kind of killed the rest of plot. Good but not so good
Ms. Becky Andrews wrote this book and incorporated passion, kinky sex, high school problems and learning how to move one from a devastating past. I love that this story is more fun, cute, swoon-y and it tackles suicide & bullying in a matter that’s enlightening and subtle. The relationship between CJ & Devin is more cute and lovely than frustrating. I love that fact the she wrote it in a way that the readers of this book will see as as cute rather than frustrating. At least for me. Yes, if you think about the push & pull they have going on, reading it can be frustrating but it is also lovely.
I think teens can relate to this story and others who have experienced what CJ experienced or if someone you know attempted suicide. This will book will help maybe not much but it would be enlightening. And another thing why I like this story is that CJ even after everything she had gone through managed to stand up for herself and move on and find happiness.
Becky Andrews writes short and lovely stories bout life and other things that comes along with it and she puts kinky parts in it which is a plus. I think. ;)
This is a good story about bullying and what the costs of bullying can be. Christy is bullied and experiences another devastating blow when her parents are killed in an accident. She recovers from an attempted suicide and helps her older brother keep the family together. Then, while her brother and her sister are away, she agrees to stay at the house in their absence. However, her brother’s friend Devin is at the house as a houseguest during that time. How Christy reacts to Devin, on whom she had a terrible crush, and how they interact together make this an interesting story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about this strong girl/woman and how she grows into herself after her bad time in high school. I think there is a good less in Christy for all of us. The interactions between Christy and Devin are interesting, realistic and well done. More background on the earlier years in Christy’s life would have been nice but would have made the story longer and possibly detracted from what there was. I think any young person would understand and appreciate this story and its underlying themes, because they are very used to them and experience them all the time. There is a lot said and written about bullying today, but this story can make anyone more aware of the long-term consequences and effects of it in life. I received this from Library Thing to read and review.
Very cute story. CJ is quite innocent and maybe a bit immature for her age. Dev too. They whole story was written innocently. The writer tried quite hard to write some steamy scenes. They were still innocent although this wouldn't be classed as YA or NA more sweet romance.
There were a few things at the very end that didn't feel right and a bit confusing and for this reason I give 4 stars.
It was a very innocent, but, at the same time touched on some important subjects. It was awesome that CJ found her voice. I wish she could've made up with Em after telling her she hated her!!! I lost my own Sister and would do anything to get her back so those words hit home for me.
The ending also moved quite fast and a bit selfishly on both Dev and CJ's part.
How do you feel???
I did enjoy this story for the most part though...
Christy's family has been through allot since the death of their parents but non have had a harder time that Christy. Devin is Christy's brother's best friend and he once saved Christy. When circumstances make Christy share a house while her brother is out of town Christy is not happy about it. After assumptions are made when Christy goes by Devin's work they decide to pretend to date so Christy can learn how to have a relationship again.
I thought this story was going to be a fun silly read but it had so much more than I could imagine. Devin and Christy were both well written and very witty. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a fast fun read with a little more to it!
I really really really loved this book and I ended up reading it in one sitting. It was such a cute read and I absolutely loved Devin and Christy. I could see through the hatred she apparently had for the annoying, good looking best friend of her brother. Devin was cheeky and the banter between them was really good and very much bordered on flirting. I had a feeling that Devin felt just as much for Christy and she did him but she was so unsure of herself and what she went through in high school was terrible. I was completely hooked and it’s one of the books that is great to read when you’ve had a tough day or want a pick me up. It cheered me right up and I loved it that much that I bought both of her other ones. Fantastic!
The concept for this story was good, and I really enjoyed Devin and Christy as characters. BUT there was A LOT of problems in the book. Christy was very out of the blue sometimes, and it seamed that the author would be explaining the randomness after it happened so you would be able to understand what the hell was going on, but it still left you with a "uh....wut.." feeling. The cliches was over the top at times, and I normally give romance books a pass but for this book I just couldn't. I gave it higher than a 2 star because it did get me to laugh a lot and stay up tell 5am. The ending is disappointing, very random and unrealistic. I loved how Christy told her sister off though, that was definitely one of my favorite parts.
It's a okay book. The only complain I have is that sometimes some authors seems to rush the story. For example: CJ the female character has all these issues that she has kept inside her for years, never talked about it with anyone including her doctor and then a few pages later she is telling people that she has just met about some of hers issues. Weird?! Then she got together with Dev ( that she disliked deeply) and a page later they are having S** everywhere. Sorry, but to me just felt that were too many pages in S** and not enough pages to mature the story. Though I have to say "I love books that the guy has been in love with the girl for years before she finds out about it".
Okay story line, but poorly written. Too little emotions and waaay to many cliches (and I usually don't mind cliches).
Favorite quote: "That's good- a couple with the obvious attraction and mutual care I see - according to my culture's folklore it means your love can stand the test of time."
I mean seriously. That has got to be the vaguest folklore ever.
And I wanted more EMOTION. There was little except "let's fuck" and "now I'm angry" and a lot of I love you's that we didn't really get an explanation for and just felt empty.
It had some promise but no. This book made time pass and I didn't cry from the badness, but it wasn't exactly good either.
This was somewhere between a 2 and a 3. My main issues were with The Incident, Christy's relationship with her sister and Devin. With the incident, there was no attempt to explain why everyone, including her friends, decided to pull such a horrible prank.
The sister thing comes from there being no explanation as to why Emily is so jealous and wants to hurt her sister. And my final issue with Devin is that there is not a satisfying resolution as to when and why he fell for Christy. This storyline has promise but the story itself didn't resolve itself properly, in my opinion.
The main character is asked in therapy to write in a notebook for part of her healing process. This book felt like that notebook.... The writing was uncomplicated and unsuspenseful and the conflict too easily resolved. I had to skim over the love scenes because they were too detailed and left nothing to the imagination and to be honest, they were pornographic in nature. I love love love a love story but I want a feel good love story not feel as though I should take a shower to wash away the filth story. I am disappointed and will never read this author again!
It was sweet with a handful of sexy. It's not a long book so while the characters weren't well developed, they were good enough for the length. It would have been nice to get to know them a little better though. The end was weirdly wordy about a few things that didn't really help the story but mostly satisfying so the extra words were forgivable.
I had mixed feeling about the signatures on the text messages though. They were sweet and playful but I just kept thinking "who has a signature for their text messages? Emails, sure. Text messages, no."
I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. At first I was a little out off on how fast we where just suppose to accept characters feelings without background information. But the father I got into the book, it made up for previous comment. It was sweet and sweet and a little sexy. Great job Becky Andrews, I hope you do a second book that follows Christy younger sister. I'm curious how their relationship is and I want to follow Devon and CJ : )
Devin he's just to cute, "uh, yeah, that thing you're doing to my hand. It's completely distracting." I looked down and realized I was stroking his hand with my thumb and then squeezing it with my other fingers." He takes good care of his girl, "I want to be inside you, baby." His voice sounded desperate. "No more teasing." I thought this book was cute, I wish it had gone on a little longer because I felt some things weren't resolved in the book.
This book was ok, I almost put switched to another book several times. Maybe it was the fact that poor Christy had so many issues that she couldn't see the forest for the trees that slowed it down for me but then again I am not a big fan of first person view books which maybe the real culprit for my lack of interest.
I really enjoyed this book and the characters. Reading this book opens up your mind to the thoughts and feelings of those going through some really hard times with depression and grief and also harassment and bullying. The love story is well written and I personally love the to and fro between the two protagonists :) really good read and very heated if I may say so myself, fantastic :) great work becky looking forward to reading some of your other work.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the paced of the storyline and how the author created the relationship of the two main character. I also loved that the backstory of the characters did not feel forced and did not drag on but was in pieces throughout the story. The characters felt well rounded and not just flat. I recommend checking this book out.
I liked the book. Not a fave but it was an easy read. I did absolutely love Devon. Em was a horrible bitch! IT was a quick read with just enough issues and happiness. I would have liked a further down the line epilogue of them with a family in the future.
This book was an amazing story. I couldn't put it down. I loved the progression of Devin and CJ's relationship. It wasn't unrealistic and it wasn't false. This romance sent me on a roller coaster. Definitely a must read!
Ah this book is fab! I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and about it's characters! The cover slightly dented my opinion but decided to go with *don't judge a book by it's cover* and am so glad I did!
DNF at 37%. I don't know what exactly it was -- the lack of contractions, the stilted prose and dialogue, the stressing out about a secret and spilling it at the first chance -- but I couldn't get myself to continue reading this book.
I saw something from someone else that thought the guise of the heroine asking the hero for lessons was stupid. I actually thought in light of her trauma it was a way for her to deal with things psychology easier. I enjoyed this book.
