When Dr. Jack Tyler loses his wife and daughter in a tragic car accident his world unravels. A well-respected Los-Angeles surgeon falls into the darkness that had plagued him as a child. With his world upside down he decides there is only one way to regain the happy life he had before the accident. With the darkness no longer in control he is driven to do the unspeakable.
Fast on his trail are Detective Nichols and Officer Cortez from the Los Angeles Police Department and FBI Agent Mark Wells. With six bodies already in the count they race against the clock to stop him before more lives are lost.
Recently I had the pleasure of meeting Valerie who graciously attended our book club. I will admit that Restoring Hope wasn't in my typical reading genre, yet after I finished the trilogy I was able to appreciate the Author's unique creativity & respect her writing ability. She did a great job tying together & wrapping up all the events, making sense at the end. It was fun knowing the exact reference to places in the book since I live in Oklahoma where the setting took place. The main character Jack was twisted with issues, but by the third book I was able to have a clearer understanding that it was his devotion & love that drove him to commit his "desperate acts" to restore his beloved Hope and for a minute I even had a sliver of compassion for him. If you are into graphic, thriller, suspense books, then I recommend this book to you.
I really enjoy mystery novels and this was one of the most interesting mystery novels I've read in a long time. I've found that most can be fairly predictable, but not this one. It's really intense and can be quite scary. I can't wait to read the next in the series.
