Turning to the man who dumped you, for help, is a humbling experience. For Lisette, it is her last hope. She doesn't know where else to turn and going to Mathieu for a safe haven is her best chance for survival. Lisette is being stalked by her ex-boyfriend who is some kind of wet works covert agent.

The premise of this story is a scary possibility for those entering the kinky lifestyle. For Lisette, she journeys into kink and makes the mistake of dating a man without a conscience. Seth is the ex who equates BDSM with beating a woman to a pulp. His delusional grasp of the lifestyle is typical of those who vilify kink. While this is an extreme shown in the story, it is something which can happen in real life. Ms. Bristol does a good job of showing the extreme as well as a more balanced view of BDSM.

The flogging and bondage in this story is accurate and delicious. Ms. Bristol does a decent job in her flogging 101 teachings. The tone is just right to give those outside of kink factual information whilst avoiding a lecturing tone. For example, those who have never been flogged before probably didn't know there are different types of sensation when being flogged. The two most prevalent are thuddy and stingy. Explaining how it feels as well as which kind of flogger would create these two different sensations is well done in the story. There are a few other examples, such as the rope bondage scenes where Ms. Bristol provides more factual information.

The suspense part of this story is written in a manner easily understandable. What woman doesn't fear for her life when her ex-boyfriend attacks her and sends her to the hospital? They way Ms. Bristol uses social media as a tracking mechanism is actually more on point than she gives herself credit for. For those who are not aware, in the electronic age, anonymous is not so anonymous. Once an on-line personality is revealed, many social media applications can identify location of the person. In this one, it dealt with blogging and photos taken. Many applications will track and post the location of a picture taken. Sometimes, just updating a blog or twitter feed will post the location too. Seth tracking Lisette so easily is plausible as part of the story.

From a character perspective, Mathieu is the battered knight riding in to save the day. He's an easy archetype to like because he's a bad boy with a heart of gold. Plus he's an alpha male with a sensual touch. What romance lover doesn't sigh over this type of hero? Lisette is the typical damsel in distress who is a victim. Perhaps later she will be a survivor. She didn't do much for me because she classified herself as a victim and her actions were not conducive for staying alive. She's a bit naïve. Still, this is probably true to most women in reality so I can't really pick on her that much.

Overall, this is a sweet erotic romance. The suspense is mild and predictable. The characters are likeable if a bit forgettable. The kinky parts are well done and enjoyable. Recommended for kinky suspense readers who enjoy lovers reuniting.

I can not believe the attention I had during this read. This author sure can tell a story. I could picture every nook and cranny of the scene she was describing as if I was there. A hard feat in my book. Lissie and Matheu are old college lovers and have not seen each other in 8 years. She gets a hold of Matheu's sister Lola and is being helped by her ex college boyfriend for protection. Being a detective it is what he does. Is he ready for her after his last relationship? There is still some unfinished business between them (not that either of them know). Her ex Seth is bound and determined to rid this world of her existence and has come to New Orleans to take care of her. When Matheu is questioning her story and women murdered and strangled start popping up on his radar. The only thing that really has him thrown is that they look like Lissie. What will come of this new information and will he be able to protect her from Seth and protect his heart in the process? Really good read! the BDSM aspect was nice and enjoyable. Hot scenes! Yep! Good one!! Job well done! Well, on to the next!

I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my honest review. Thank You, Net Galley!

I fell for Mathieu in Picture Her Bound. Remember him? He was Odalia’s former partner and big brother type friend. Duty Bound is his book, and what a book. (Don’t worry – it can be read as a stand-alone.)
Mathieu is one HOT detective! Old college friend Lisette is a damsel in distress. Sparks fly off these two like Fourth of July fireworks. They have both grown up since they knew each other in college, and developed some – um – kinks. While they are getting to know each other again, and exploring all these new possibilities, someone is stalking Lisette.
This is a story with nail biting suspense, heart stopping action, and be still my heart sex scenes. You won’t want to miss it.
But wait there is more! We are gifted with an additional short story that features Odalia and Jacques from Picture Her Bound that is just as exciting.
You really won’t want to miss this one. Turns out to be a two-fer in wonderful New Orleans that, in my opinion, is a must read!

Book two in the Bayou Bound series by Sidney Bristol. New to loving Sidney Bristol I grabbed at the chance to review this book not caring that it was the second book. I was not let down it was everything I hoped to expect and more from Sidney Bristol. I love second chance stories and this is a great example of one. Lisette and Mathieu are damaged individuals, Lisette is on the run from her abusive ex-boyfriend and Mathieu is still burned from what his ex-wife did to him. It's a wonderful story about learning to trust again and discovering love you thought you lost. I found this story to be enticing, erotic, entertaining and above all a joy to read.

At the start of the book Mathieu is like a black cup of coffee; hot, strong and bitter. Mathieu has always had a soft spot for the damsel in distress as a cop he has come across plenty, but the last time he fell for a soft woman in need she played him and took everything in the divorce. Mathieu learned his lesson and vows no more damsels. Until his sister calls and asks him to help someone in serious need. Mathieu is skeptical but agrees to see the woman none the less. He never expected it to the woman he almost lost his heart to in college. Mathieu broke it off with Lisette for several reasons the main reason being that he is a dominate and he doesn't think the sweet and innocent Lisette could handle his need to dominate.

Lisette was heartbroken about Mathieu breaking it off never getting an actual reason for it. On top of her heart break she was dealing with her pretentious stuck up family trying to run her life especially after she changed her major to sex therapy. She managed to keep her family out of her personal life and her desire to submit to a dominate and the feel of pain to pleasure. In her studies she created a blog where woman have a place to go to learn, vent, get advice and just be their kinky selves and it exploded like she never thought. Lisette broke things off with her very vanilla boyfriend for the obvious reason that she wasn't getting everything she needed from the relationship. She never expected him to a complete sociopath. He sent her to the hospital three times each time more beaten then the last. A former Special Forces he was able to track her down each time she ran. With no place other to go she called the only person she knew could protect her, Mathieu.

Mathieu once burn doesn't quite believe Lisette's story and starts to dig into her claims. In doing so he discovers a series of attacks in the area that bear the same signature beatings the Lisette endured. Lisette thinking she's in the clear posts on her blog the truth about what she has been going through, she runs the blog anonymously and never thought that she could be tracked through that let alone that he knew she ran the site. Lisette and Mathieu still have feelings for each other but with how things ended between them they are both hesitant to act, that is until Lisette finds an absolutely delicious flogger hiding under Mathieu's bed and confront shim about it. Lisette hasn't played out a scene in over a year and propositions Mathieu. Mathieu is stunned that Lisette is involved in the BDSM world and agrees to her needs with no sex. Ya that doesn't last long. Soon Mathieu and Lisette work it all out and are once again together but her crazy ass ex is still a problem.

I loved this book, I can't wait for more Sidney Bristol kinky goodness to show up on my Kindle.

Duty Bound, Sidney Bristol
Review from jeannie zelos book reviews

Sydney's a prolific author and yet I found I'd only read one of her books before, so thought it was time for book two...I love erotic romance, so this seemed a good choice.
Well, it was a decent read but not a great one for me. I liked the romance pick up from the past, but I felt they seemed to flow into it very quickly – I need a bit more angst, a bit more “should I / shouldn't I” sort of self questioning. Still, they were a good match, and I wondered exactly why they split in the first place? There were reasons given, but I didn't feel they really matched the people I met – maybe they were different before, after all it was several years ago. I loved Matthieu, a real charmer, and yet not a playboy type but someone solid and dependable. You know when he says he'll protect her that he will, whatever his personal feelings...and then oif course there's that New Orleans aura and accent....;-) Lisette, a fun girl and I understood how she felt when her family abandoned her, thought she was mentally incapable just because she liked some kink. The blog though.....it took up a lot of space, when I only saw it as a vehicle for a couple of links...I skipped lots of it, it just seemed like Lisettes...ramblings? IMO only of course! Then there's the ex, what a piece of work he was.
So its a great scenario and yet, for me Lisette didn't really work, I didn't dislike her but didn't really feel connected to her. The sex/kink scenes between her and Matthieu weren't really tantalising for me, I just didn't really get that feeling of sensuality, seduction, erotisism I expected, didn't feel the sexual tension between them, even though it was ( supposed to be ) there. Her actions too – staying with somone you'd think she'd have been more polite than to pry among his clearly secret BDSM stuff.....thats just rude, and then to tell him she'd been poking around too! The ex – clearly he had some surreptious help from the top, but that really stayed a mystery. I felt a bit more build up between Lisette and Matthieu, and more info on the ex and his actions would have helped for me. For instance when he appears in Matthieu's office, having bypassed all security checks I wanted to know how – but that stayed blank...
Overall its a fun read, and will work well for lots of people but didn't really float my boat.

Aack!! I forgot there was a Odalia bonus at the end of the story and when everything started wrapping up at 84% I was a little surprised! I wanted to read more! But I love the tension from the storyline and the fact it wrapped up without being drawn out and predictable was a plus for me.

I am always drawn to the past-love-found again storylines. I like this one in particular because they didn't gripe and moan about the eight years they've lost, they realize that their life experiences during the time they were separated made them what they are today. The pain and misgivings from past mistakes made them see what could be again for them together and I like when the main characters don't wait until the absolute last page to tell each other how they feel.

The HOT, sexy and sensual scenes were great as well. I have read some BDSM stories that get too technical and engrossed in details (it shouldn't be a how-to manual) or some that just slick over and left me wondering what just happened but SB gave me just enough to keep the pages turning and made me squirm right along with Lisette as she waited for Mathieu's next move!

Overall a great addition to the series but also fine to read as a stand alone. Highly Recommend!

Received an ARC for review from NetGalley

Thank you for a great book to end my drought of meh and sososo reads. Loved this book. Action, drama, hot sex, a little kink, and a bad guy to be caught. There was no dragging in this story, no overdrawn emotional angst from their previous relationship. I'm loving all Ms. Bristol's chocolate heroes.

There was a bonus novella at the end. I'm glad it was there so that there wasn't a big hole left in the story. I didn't read it until I went back and read book one, Picture Her Bound. You don't have to have read book one to read this one, but I would suggest reading it before the bonus novella.

There are great secondary characters introduced who I'd love to see more of Rogue and Karen and Lola...

Lisette turned to her ex for help even though it was hard since he had broken it off with her. She knows that Mathieu is the only one that can help her. She got involved with the wrong guy and now he is stalking her. Seth is an abuser hiding within the BDSM lifestyle. Mathieu doesn't want to be anyone's savior, but can't resist Lisette when she comes to him. Things are hardly over between them as their chemistry is off the charts in a tie me up and flog me kind of way. They are scorching hot together. I so loved their story.

I give Duty Bound 4 hearts!

I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

I hated this book because the main female character was so stupid!! If you are on the run from someone who you know is Special Forces, you don't go posting personal information on the dang internet!! Gaaahhh. I was so frustrated by the stupid of this girl. I almost gave up, but the male lead was a good guy, so I hung in there for him.

This book was very emotional and compelling. Sidney did a wonderful job with writing techinique. It was long for my taste but the story stayed strong til the end. I enjoyed the different kink she introduced, showed the differences in what society thinks vs. those of us who have that life style, and the dangers if one is not careful.

"I received an free copy from author in exchange for an honest review." This book was unbelievable! Terror, mystery, hot and steamy love scenes and more! Mat & Lissy were just great to read. Not your ordinary happy ending, they seriously had to work for that slice of heaven! Can't wait to finish this series and read more of Sydney Bristol!
