Fifty stolen purses. Three boys. Two girls. Two love triangles. One break-up. One make-up. One proposal. What does all that equal? A tote-ally major mystery.

After the South Pasadena Police Department decides they’ve got better things to do than solve a locker-room larceny that separated four dozen fashion-forward females from their precious purses, anonymous gossip guru @MISSinformed, a.k.a. Patti, and her sassy Scandinavian BFF Lola soon realize it’s time to take matters into their own handbags. When these accidental teen detectives aren't haute on the trial of the Baguette bandit, these badass BFFs deal with life, love and Louis Vuitton in a mischievous mystery that defines purse-icution complex.

In the first installment of The Patti & Lola Mysteries, @MISSinformed, we meet Patti, the anonymous blogger behind South Pasadena’s premier virtual clothesline for the town’s dirty laundry as she’s about to “go legit,” close her gossip blog ‘@missinformed’ and take over as Editor-in-Chief of her high school newspaper. Meanwhile, Patti’s BFF Lola, a too-cool-for-school Finnish exchange student with goofy grammar and killer curves, is on a mission to marry a much older millionaire by the name of Hugo (#498 on the Forbes’ List to be exact) before she graduates, her student visa expires and she’s forced to move back to frozen Finland.

As it so often does, fate intervenes. In short order, an entire girls’ PE class worth of designer bags are stolen from the locker room, Patti loses her election to Editor-in-Chief in questionable circumstances and Lola meets a sexy scruffy someone who makes her wonder whether she really needs all Hugo's money. When the local police fail to apprehend the handbag hooligan, Lola convinces Patti (also caught in her own sticky boy brouhaha) to put her gossip gathering skills to better use by teaming up to solve the mystery of the purloined purses.

Once Patti & Lola are haute on the trail of the purse snatcher, nothing will stop them from apprehending the culprit(s)…except two love triangles, a horrendous haircut, The Department of Homeland Security and a nervous breakdown. With Patti’s ultra-glamorous and highly medicated mother, Mrs. Fowler, dispensing equal parts encouragement and champagne, the girls get back on track, focus on their investigation and quickly discover that bagging the scoundrel(s) won’t be all that easy, gossip really is the root of all evil and nothing is as it appears in sunny, safe, suburban South Pasadena.

About the author

Robert Barr

3 books1 follower
Between the unfortunate year and one-half year he spent at South Pasadena High School—before tricking the State of California into letting him graduate early—and writing @MISSinformed (A Patti and Lola Mystery), Robert Barr’s work has appeared in various publications including 7Hollywood, Flaunt, Paper, The Daily Beast and WWD.

Educated at the American University of Paris, Robert learned the ins (and hautes) of the fashion industry as first assistant to couturier Giambattista Valli in Paris and Milan. Inspired by major ennui due to questionable Chinese delivery and outrageous taxes, Robert moved to New York. He spent a few years at M·A·C Cosmetics throwing shade and naming shades (yes, that really is a job). From there, a series of bizarre gigs ensued, including Assistant to the Producer of the 81st Annual Academy Awards, where his primary responsibility was harassing publicists into revealing “who” their clients would be wearing on the red carpet.

Currently, Robert spends the daytime (and many nights) creative directing in the wonderful world of advertising. When he’s not doing that, he’s collaborating on a forthcoming film project with his scriptwriting partner, actress Jamie Clayton (Dirty Work, Hung, Transform Me).

Robert lives in the Hollywood Hills with Kitty, a beautiful yet moody stray cat a homeless man handed him one night in Brooklyn.
