Book Review Book Title: Expecting a Bolton Baby Book Author: Sarah M. Anderson
Introduction: I was craving some ooey, gooey Harlequin styled romance so I decided this book should fit the bill! I also got it from a random garage sale (I know, I know...buy the books from the garage sale don't benefit the author,so the least I could do was review and get the word out about it).
Review:
Normally, I love ooey, gooey, super romance-y type books but for whatever reason I wasn't into this book. Now, hear me out, this book was SUPER AWESOME and it definitely fits the bill of being an amazing Harlequin romance, but personally it just wasn't hitting the notes. Perhaps I thought I wanted to read a romance and I actually needed a different genre, but it just wasn't doing it for me.
All that being said, this book was really good in the romance genre - my distaste for it wasn't because of the book itself, I think I just needed a genre change.
So, remove my negative thoughts from the equation and here's my thoughts:
This is a nice book to read when you don't want some heavy, crime/psychological/horror type novel. It's a smooth read, it moves quickly and it's packed tight with romance. It's over flowing with a beautiful narrative and sappy lines, which can make every romance fan drool with excitement.
Expecting a Bolton Baby is apart of a series, but I didn't have any issue picking up on what happened in the first. It won't leave you confused or lost, but the first book would help connect a few more dots. It can be treated like a standalone for any romance readers who simply need a sappy book to pick up.
Character growth and development was great in this novel as well. I'm not usually expecting much development during a Harlequin romance, but it was there for the picking!! Great job Sarah!!
This book might not seem to be the most realistic novel in the entire world, but it does fit the Happily Ever After sort of build I like to see in novels. I really enjoyed that aspect where it wasn't depressing and sad for the entire novel - it left me feeling warm and fuzzy. This little slice of life book is great to pick up those winter blues!!
Overall, this was a good book! I might not have been feeling the romance genre, but it was a sweet read! I would definitely suggest anyone who's a fan of romance or needs a break from reality to pick up this beautiful book!
I sure had high hopes for this book because I thought the story-line had great promise. Unfortunately, it was a sizable letdown for this reader and I was deeply disappointed.
Stella and Bobby met at a club one night. It was a very rare occasion for Stella to go out and she didn't frequent clubs. Even though Stella was not the type of woman Bobby usually hooked up with they were both instantly drawn to each other. They got a little crazy and left the club to do the horizontal tango, something that was out of character for Stella. She did not do guys, boyfriends, or one night stands having given that up years before. She lived by her father's harsh law of the land and moral code that he dictated and commanded. He was truly a horrible person. So set on almost impossible moral standards that a preacher would have difficulty following. What an oxy moron because he was a mean, spiteful, vindictive, vengeful man who was mentally and verbally abusive, especially to his daughter who cowered at the thought of him but, also to his business partners and anyone else in his path. She was an embarrass to him because she was a clothing designer and went for an edgy look, something a little out of the box.
Bobby wanted to continue seeing her but she told him 'no' to protect him because she figured out her dad was his boss and major investor in his business. She knew he would cause major trouble for Bobby because her father places a morality clause in all his business contracts. Heaven forbid that someone didn't do something perfectly because then he could dump them and take their business away leaving them in an impossible financial situation that would leave them bankrupt. That was two months ago and he's thought about her constantly wishing they could have given it a go. He was so taken with her that he hasn't looked at another women since he was with her which, by the way it was described, must have been a record-breaking amount of time for him to not hook up. We find out early that he has been with a lot of women so him going to a club and leaving to have sex with a woman was not something new. He was a playboy and loved his bachelor lifestyle. What troubled me even more than his man-whore ways was all his thoughts about the other women he would be giving up if he was involved with Stella. He was not keen on marriage or having a family. I really got frustrated with all his thoughts about all the others that had come before her, like a woman in every port, and it was a complete turn off for me. When a couple meets and considers a relationship together I despise hearing about all their sexual exploits. It caused me to lost a lot of respect for his character and I never regained it. One chapter you think he is in love with her and the next he is thinking about all the women and sex he will miss out on if he offers her marriage. It was unsettling. That is not what I want to hear about as they are trying to get their relationship going.
Got ahead of myself so I'm going to back up a little. Bobby is shocked and thrilled when Stella arrives at his business office. But she has a good reason and informs him the condom malfunctioned and she is pregnant. She came to see if he wanted to be involved with the child. Since her father is such a horrible man and parent she wants to discover if Bobby is 'in' or 'out.' She doesn't want her child to fall in love with his father then to suffer the way she has when said father abandoned her after the death of her mother. It broke her in a way I don't think she will ever entirely recover from. She didn't want her child to suffer the pain of abandonment, for Bobby to be 'in' the child's life then all the sudden 'leave' because she knows quite well the pain and suffering it caused her throughout most of her life. Stella is twenty-five-years old and from afar her father controls every aspect of her life, has her followed 24/7 and basically handed her off to his friend to raise when she wasn't stuck in boarding school.
Sadly, this book had one of the weakest heroines I have ever read about. I actually struggled while trying to figure out why Bobby was so drawn to her given her pathetic weaknesses and her willingness to adhere to her father's every word even though she knew good and well he was wrong. The young woman couldn't even think for herself or make a decision in just about every area of her life. That would be more believable if her father was around but she had not seen him in years. Her thoughts, self talk and conversations were so redundant that I wanted to toss my Kindle out the window then go find it and stomp it until it was obliterated. When her mother passed away she was immediately shipped to a boarding school at the young age of eight, and her father paid extra to have them keep her year round. Most years she didn't even get to come home for Christmas. Since they only kept her year round because of the money pops was willing to pay she spent most of her time alone. She would go years and not hear from or see her father but when he called and demanded something of her, she was trained that she had no choice and had to say yes to his every demand. She showed us this time and excrutiating time again. She was extremely naive and didn't give a thought to go against him. I don't think it's normal for her to have felt this way. Thinking of her made me picture her as a limp dishrag or a worn out, thread-bare doormat. He would tell her all the time, by phone, what a disappointment she was because she like edgy clothes and he did not approve. He was extremely conservative and Stella would never ever consider saying no to him. When they had any confrontation you could just feel her begin to wither away into herself.
I waited and waited, checking at 50%, 60% then 75% wondering when this weak girl was going to get some gumption and quit bowing to her father's every command. She was twenty-five, in love and pregnant yet she could do nothing that may bother her father. The problem with that is that everything everyone did bothered him. Her character was never transformed and I waited the whole book for that. It really never happened. The only time she ever stood up to him she ended up packing and leaving Bobby to go back home with Evil daddy. It also made me consider what kind of wimpy woman like her could ever be an effective wife and mother. It is almost at the very end and she is saying that she might as well give up her life (she really didn't have one) and just live her life under her father's control. She was certain she didn't want her father to have any control over how her child was raised, yet she is going to give up and surrender to the man who has abused her most all her life. I can't imagine that giving in and appearing so weak would draw Bobby to her or any other man. It's not attractive to watch a person not live their own life while they bow to a demeaning and demanding parent. (Of this I know first hand.) A person who never even considers she has a right to live her life as she chooses. She has a right to say enough. She has a right to say no. She felt she deserved nothing in this life. It was sad, very sad as well as frustrating!
There were a lot of inconsistancies in this story and I am finished with this series. Book One I couldn't get interested in it, Book Two was just plain bad, and Book Three less than fair.
Do I recommend it? No absolutely not unless you like to read a book that leaves you angry and frustrated.
I haven't read the first two books in this series, but this one can be read as a standalone.
I liked the way this man thinks. Bobby has been raised to do the right thing and it's actually something he wants to do. He wants to have Stella in his life, and the baby? Well, that's icing on his cake.
It does take him a while to figure out how to go about such a thing, because he has to LEARN how to communicate with her.
For her part, Stella is not sure what she wants. She hasn't had a loving family dynamic in ages, not since her mother died. Her father, ugh, what a jerk. It's a good thing she had her bodyguard to give her a bit of normalcy and support.
Stella is scared, but thrilled, to be pregnant. She wants a family, desperately. She's also quite smitten with Bobby. But what if he runs? What if he doesn't stay? What if he doesn't love them? Her fears almost ruined what could be wonderful.
Apparently Bobby was a player before Stella and this has really gobsmacked him. He has this huge business deal, with a morals clause, that just might take his entire family into bankruptcy, if he doesn't watch his p's and q's. He has to decide what is more important: family or business.
Since this is a romance, we know he makes the right decision. It's fun watching him get there. I would have preferred a bit of a showdown between Stella and her father. But that's a minor issue. This was a fun read.
You can preorder this now.

The weather’s changing and it’s time to cozy up with easy to read, light romance. Expecting a Bolton Baby by Sarah M. Anderson is a great choice if you like to watch the hero and the heroine tip toe around each other emotionally, while denying any feelings, even to themselves! Bobby Bolton is embarking on the biggest business venture of his lifetime, one that will make people look at him as a man capable of standing on his own. Of course, his largest backer is a stodgy old man with all kinds of clauses in his contract, and Bobby needs him. The problem? There is a morality clause, seriously, no misbehaving, nothing that could sully the reputation of the powerful and wealthy Mr. Caine, a very vocal and visual proponent of the traditional family. Enter a beautiful, sexy woman who has a one night fling with Bobby, not like Mr. Caine will find out, right? Oops, seems this now very pregnant woman is Stella Caine, Mr. Caine’s very own daughter. How will Bobby save his business and deal with fatherhood? Does he want to spend the rest of his life with one woman? What if that woman was Stella? You may think you can figure out the ending, but getting there is the fun part!
Sarah M. Anderson writes with a light hand, adds a few colorful characters and a few little twists just to keep things lively in this nicely paced, cozy little romance!
I received an ARC edition is exchange for my honest review from NetGalley and Harlequin Desire. For more reviews check out Tome Tender's Book Blog or find us on Facebook.
I love to read this kind of a light book after I've been reading heavy, thought-provoking books for awhile. Sarah Anderson writes the kind of books that make you get lost in the world she creates. She also makes you root for the characters because you've grown to love them over the past 12 hours since you started the book. Her ability to create the depth of character that she does in such a short (190 pages) novel is astounding to me.
This is the second in the Bolton Brothers series. I'm hoping that I can get to the others in the series. I've come to be invested in these brothers' lives!
Good book. Bobby hadn't forgotten his encounter with Stella, but respected her wishes to leave her alone. Then she came back to see him and tell him that she's pregnant. Bobby is stunned but determined to do the right thing, if only he can convince her.
I really liked Bobby. I wasn't sure about him in the earlier books, as he seemed a bit like the typical smarmy salesman. In this book we get to know him better. Bobby is a people person, which is why he's so good at sales. He has a great talent at being able to read most people. As the youngest brother he feels like he needs to prove himself, which is why he's gotten involved with building the resort. He found out after the fact that Stella is the daughter of his biggest investor, the same one who is super conservative and not likely to take his daughter's pregnancy well. I really liked the way that Bobby is not upset about Stella's pregnancy, but is actually kind of excited about it. He has been a bit of a player before, but since meeting Stella hasn't been interested in anyone else. He is surprised when she turns down his proposal but he's not going to give up. One of the things I liked best about Bobby was the way that he actually listened to Stella and tried to do things that would make her happy. I loved it when he took her to the shop and got the two ladies to get her the supplies she needed to do her work. It also showed how comfortable he was with babies when he was playing with Josey's little girl. I loved the way he wanted her more with every day they were together, but he sure was an idiot when he neglected to tell her that he wanted her to stay. It was great when his two sisters-in-law sat him down and pointed out where he'd gone wrong. I loved seeing him stand up to her father in public before going after Stella.
Stella had a terrible relationship with her father ever since her mother died. He was a cold man who never paid any attention to her unless he was putting her down. She has become an excellent fashion designer but still gets no approval from her father. Her designs are a bit out there and her ultra conservative father doesn't approve of them at all. I liked the way she does her own thing anyway. When she met Bobby she was drawn to him because he actually noticed her and talked to her, something that didn't happen to her often. She only was with him that one time because she didn't want to cause him trouble. When she discovered she was pregnant she went to him because she wanted to find out if he would be involved with the baby or distant like her father. She was stunned to find out just how involved he wanted to be. She wants nothing more than to have a family of her own, but she doesn't want a marriage of obligation. She wants to be wanted and loved for herself. The more time she spends with Bobby the deeper she falls for him. I felt really bad for her with the way that her father treats her. I liked the way that Bobby supports her and backs her up so she can get what she needs. I had high hopes for her when she stood up to her father at the end, but then she backed down and I wanted to smack her. I hope that Bobby's love gives her the strength that she needs to be her own person.
The final Bolton brother. Bobby hovered in the background of the other two. A little too smooth, relying on talking his way in and out of everything from beds to business deals. I wasn't sure if I was going to like him, especially after loving Billy from bringing home the bachelor so much (fangirl dance for Billy).
Bobby is busy building himself an empire. He has signed up for a reality TV show featuring his brothers and the Crazy Horse Motorcycling business run by his father and two brothers. This will fund the construction of a lifestyle resort for upmarket bike riders which is his stand for independence, to prove he isn't the no good baby brother.
The arrival of Stella on his doorstep with news of her pregnancy couldn't have come at a worse time. Her not so loving dad is the key investor in both the TV show and the resort and the morals clause means that not only Bobby, but the rest of the family could lose everything.
The fact that Bobby's been thinking about the elusive Stella for months makes for plenty of complications. I loved his interactions with her and his respect and nurturing when he found out why she was there. It was fascinating finding out why he was so different to his brothers and it made sense to me.
It was harder for me to warm up to Stella. Her rebellion against her father was so passive aggressive and even her reactions to Bobby where of the same nature. It was funny seeing the smooth talking Bobby fumble over simple conversational gambits.
This was a really sweet story and lacked a lot of the angst of the previous two. I think this was because of Bobby's nature. It was still a lovely story and the ending was satisfying even if a little rushed.
In this Bolton Brothers book, first comes the babyand maybe then comes marriage?
He'd never expected to see Stella Caine again. After one wild night, she'd walked away right after revealing that her father was the one man who could threaten the biggest business deal of Bobby Bolton's career. So Bobby left her alone.
Until now.
Now Stella is pregnant and staying in his condo. This is a complication that can be solved only one way: marriage. Bobby wants to do the right thing. Hell, he wants her--he has never stopped wanting her. Surely he can convince her to say yes, even without those three little words.
My Thoughts:
**3.5 Stars**
To start off, I haven't read any of the books from this series with the exception of this one. I ran across Expecting a Bolton Baby via Netgalley and requested it due to the blurb. Without the knowledge that this was part of a series, I read Expecting a Bolton Baby without any confusion so I can say that this story can be a standalone read.
Expecting a Bolton Baby was hard to put down in the beginning. I read the first half straight through and got really engaged with the story. Bobby and Stella's one night stand resulted in a baby and I admired that Bobby man up and took responsibility when Stella came to him with the news. Bobby was ever caring, sweet, and was always putting Stella's wishes and wants before his own. Plus, he cooks and does the dishes! Now that's the kind of hero I love ;)
While I loved Bobby's character, I can't say the same for Stella unfortunately. She wasn't a bad heroine, but I had some issues with her. For one, I wished Stella could have developed more of a backbone and stood up to her father. But, she didn't. Considering her painful childhood of neglect, I could understand why she was a little cold and distant and had numerous doubts about Bobby. However, despite being an adult she was still the scared little girl. I just wanted to see growth in her character, yet that didn't happen. Furthermore, I got annoyed with Stella's internal thoughts. I understood her feelings, yet what I couldn't understand was why she didn't voice them out loud. It was as if she wanted Bobby to read her mind, but he's not a mind reader woman!
As for the epilogue, although it was a nice addition, I thought that it ended a bit abruptly. Not only that, but I would have liked to have some sense of closure between Stella and her father. Stella never confronted her father about his neglect and behavior all those years. I was looking forward to some type of discussion or confrontation, but nothing happened. I was expecting Stella to face her father, but she didn't and for that I was a little disappointed. Again, that brings me back to me wishing she could have developed more of a backbone. Then, her father just showed up at the wedding and with that it gave the impression that he just "came around." I just thought that it was too easy and unbelievable.
In the end, although this review may sound more negative than positive, Expecting a Bolton Baby was not a bad read. It was good and I rather enjoyed it. Yes, I had some issues with it, but for the most part it did keep me entertained.
*I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.
First comes the baby…and maybe then comes marriage? He'd never expected to see Stella Caine (fashion designer) again. After one wild night, she'd walked away—right after revealing that her father was the one man who could threaten the biggest business deal of Bobby Bolton's career. His partner in the new Crazy Horse Resort and reality television show. So, Bobby left her alone. Until now. Now Stella shows up with Mickey the bodyguard and is pregnant and staying in his condo. This is a complication that can be solved only one way: marriage. Bobby wants to do the right thing. Hell, he wants her—has never stopped wanting her. Surely, he can convince her to say yes, even without those three little words…
This was a really enjoyable but somewhat sad(frustrating) story. Bobby & Stella has some very hot chemistry but Stella frustrated me a bit as did Bobby. Neither was honest when asked what they wanted & Stella was constantly feeling unloved. I enjoyed Mickey (the leprechaun) as Bobby dubbed him, I thought he’d been more of a father to Stella than her own cold hearted, stubborn, ignorant & ungrateful father. My only wish for this story was that we might’ve found out what they were having......boy or girl? Definitely recommend
This is book 3 in an awesome trilogy...You will love the Bolton Brothers they are strong on family unity... Have big hearts & are really great guys who put business & family above all else... They are great if read in order but also work as a stand alones...
A one-night fling turns unexpectedly when Stella enters Bobby Bolton's place of business and announces she is pregnant with his baby. The problems then come into play. True to form for these short romance stories, love concerns all.
Third book in the series The Bolton Brothers, and as you can imagine from the title, the series is about the story of three brothers: Ben and Billy, Bobby, for each one his story and his book, which can also be read individually. I can almost call them "The B Brothers", but they're another kind of brothers ...In this story we are dealing with Bobby, the bachelor guy, who loves the adventures by one night and doesn't want to bind himself emotionally with a woman. He spent all his energies in the realization of a project in which he invested all his finances. As Murphy's law says he finally encounters a woman who can changes his life and just happens to be the daughter of the man who could destroy Bobby's projects and the lives of his brothers.Stella Cain has no intentionwho see again Bobby after wild night they spent together, not because she is not attracted by the man, but she is so heavily conditioned by the presence of the father in her life that actually fails to find the only thing she needs, and almost no one was able to give her: love, warmth, affection. In order not to suffer, she prefers loneliness. But the faith and a failed condom put the two togetheAarianna face an unexpected pregnancy and to deal with possible changes in their lives. It is a well written contemporary romance, cute, I feel like saying that speaks the confirmation that man and woman have two totally different paths of thought, I daresay the famous two parallel worlds that are designed to meet ever. Bobby is willing to get involved, the will is there, but doesn't know what to give to this woman who could have everything thanks to her status. Stella could realize the dream of her life, but she is so emotionally fragile that she doesn't have the courage to tell the truth and she asks Bobby just an agreement for the child to be present in the life of a child. Brr chills.Bobby is a character that I really liked, confident, stubborn, charming and affectionate.Stella I found it a bit too complexed and indecisive, while I loved her bodyguard, who has always given the paternal affection that she needed. But now I have to close the circle and read the two books on the other two B&B. Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin Desire for the kind preview.
FTC: I love this author and have worked with her frequently. That being said, I wouldn’t give her a falsely positive review nor would she want me to.
This is the last in the Bolton series and we finally get the bratty brothers book. Bobby has not actually gained any good favour with me during this series and I did wonder whether or not that would stop me enjoying the book. He has such an about turn in this book that I found him nearly unrecognizable to the character that was in the other books; this was not a bad thing. I enjoyed this book immensely and will state that it probably could be read as a standalone though I don't recommend it.
This being a Harlequin, the overall theme of the book is quite light and uplifting. I was so impressed with Bobby’s attitude towards the unexpected pregnancy. He was slightly besotted with Stella yes, but I think the reason that he wants to be there for her is because he sees it as his responsibility rather than he wants an insta-family. That doesn’t retract from the fact that he is besotted with Stella and so gives her his full attention. In the other books, I came out with the impression that he would throw his own Grandparent under the bus to get what he wanted. He still has the same attitude but it’s slightly less mercenary and selfish in this book. He wants her, so he goes out of his way to learn how to treat her so he can win her love. Honestly, it was the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen; when he brings in helpers to help her with her show, my heart gave a little squishy squeeze. I do think that, at the beginning of the book, I consciously separated him from the brat in the other books but it probably wasn’t fair and it was one of the issues for him in the book; no one else could quite resolve these two characters either. Bobby struggles with what he wants to be and what others perceive him to be throughout this book; it isn’t fair but you make your bed, you gotta learn to lie in it. I think that he does well in redeeming himself in this book.
Stella was a tough nut to crack. She had a completely shitty upbringing and it defined the woman that she became. I got the sense that she liked to go against her conservative father because the reaction that she got was better than being ignored. I liked her as a heroine but she was difficult to relate to because she was very distant. She had built a hell of a lot of protective walls around herself and she was very reluctant to let Bobby through them. She told Bobby about the baby because she feels that it is her responsibility to do so and she gets swept away with his future plans because she wants her baby to have the upbringing she didn’t. I just didn’t know if when push came to shove, that she would be able to give him everything he wanted.
There is no real side plot. The evil Father (he is an absolute douche) adds a fleshing out to this romance and our characters a common connection to bandy against. I didn’t enjoy his character but I understood the need for him.
Overall, this is a good installment to this series (Billy’s book will remain my favourite of this series). With the unplanned pregnancy and the redeemable jerk, it is sure to check a few boxes for a lot of people. For me, it was simply a lovely book with engaging characters that I wanted to succeed. I love Sarah M. Anderson’s stuff and this one was no different.

I hadn’t read this author yet. It’s my friend Pirouette who mentioned her to me because she was trying to make herself know in France after the publication by Harlequin of the novel A man of distinction (Tendre découverte – Harlequin Passions 06/2013). So when I saw this title available at Netgalley, with a very interesting synopsis, I hurried to request it. Expecting a Bolton baby is the third volume in her trilogy The Bolton brothers. The first two titles are Straddling the line and Bringing home the bachelor. I learned the three volumes will probably be translated in French, we’ll tell you more as soon as it’s confirmed.
I really liked this story and the characters. It’s especially full of emotion and melancholy, mainly because of the heroine. Stella Caine is the daughter of a big producer who possesses the rights of a reality show in which plays our hero, Bobby Bolton, and is his associate in a new project and in which his brothers are also associates. The fact that these two form a couple brings lots of obstacles they’ll have to overcome to be happy. The hero’s two brothers are the first obstacle because of their investment in Bobby’s project. They didn’t seem very likable to me; however the author succeeded in getting me interested in them enough for me to want to discover their story. The show and Bobby’s goal are the second obstacle to their relationship because if he loses everything, he’ll have to say goodbye to all he worked so hard for, to the point of agreeing to sign a contract with David Caine. The latter is the last obstacle to their relationship. He is a horrible man who hardly improves in the end and the readers enjoy hating him.
I think it’s because of all these obstacles that we come to really appreciate the heroes. Because, in spite of everything, they stick to their opinion, they know what they want and do everything to have it. Real heroes in short. In any case, it’s what I liked a lot in this book.
Bobby is the one who must evolve in the novel. From bachelor to Stella’s baby’s father-to-be and madly in love, he had to go through several stages, the most important one being getting to realize his feelings and his desires. We know straightaway what Stella wants but she has such a difficult past because of her father that we understand her decisions. The sex scenes are of good quality and we understand how much they are attracted to each other. The heroes also talk to each other, which is very important and shows us the evolution of their feelings.
To conclude, Expecting a Bolton baby is a very lovely contemporary romance, very sweet and touching, and I recommend it. I look forward to discover Bobby’s brothers’ stories.
Expecting A Bolton Baby is the last book in the Bolton Bothers trilogy, a series which I have enjoyed from the beginning. Sarah M. Anderson has no problems ensnaring me with her words and drawing me into her stories with ease.
Since book one I’ve wondered what motivated Bobby Bolton. While his two brothers were more rough and tumble, Bobby was more polished, refined. He could fit into both worlds but his main job was managing the tv show he had built around the family bike building business. While in New York he had a chance encounter with a beautiful woman who turned out to be the daughter of a very powerful business man that Bobby did not want to upset. The owner of the channel his tv show ran on. Also the financial backer of all of Bobby’s dreams of owning a posh resort in his hometown. When Stella shows up and announces her pregnancy a couple of month later, he’s shocked and nervous what this means for his carefully constructed future.
Stella was a hard character to like in the beginning. She had an icy exterior that really put me off her. She came off as stuck up and entitled until her past was revealed. She was justifiably nervous approaching Bobby but I have to give her credit for going to him at all.
Though Bobby reacts to the news of the pregnancy with grace he becomes a complete tool in the way he makes Stella feel. Men can be so obtuse, but to his credit Stella doesn’t do such a hot job conveying what she truly wants either. This is definitely one of those books where I kept saying and yelling at the characters to get their heads out of their asses and COMMUNICATE.
I did feel this one had much more internalization and less vocalization than the past two books. Readers were constantly in the characters heads. Less convo slowed down the story a bit for me and I found I didn’t react as strongly to Bobby and Stella as I did the past two couples. I mean, I totally ugly cried in the last book. Regardless, this is a fast read that I got done in one sitting. It’s easy, light and would be perfect to read in between darker books when you’re looking to simply relax.
Sarah M Anderson grows with every book I read of hers. Enchanting and fun, I look forward to what she gives readers in the future!
I give Expecting A Bolton Baby by Sarah M Anderson 3 stars!
Ok, I just finished Expecting a Bolton Baby by Sarah M. Anderson. We have finally arrive to the final Bolton Brother, Bobby. Let me just say, I wasn't a huge fan of Bobby in the previous books. Actually thought he was schmuck in Bringing Home the Bachelor cause he was all about his playboy image. However, he really redeem himself in Expecting a Bolton Baby.
Bobby always pictured himself being a playboy for a little while longer, but life throws unexpected curveballs. He really wasn't expecting to see Stella Caine ever again. Then again life is full of surprises. Of course, she drops the pregnancy bomb and expecting Bobby to lose his cool. Yet, he manages to keep his cool and actually wants to work it out. Bobby wants to do the right thing by marrying her, but she doesn't want him to feel obligated to marry her.
I wasn't sure if I would like Bobby, I mean her really was a douche in the other books. Even his brothers called him a twit, so I always wonder how was he ever going to redeem himself. However, he surprised me. When Stella walked back into his life, he was willing to step up to the plate and take responsibility. He could have baulked at the idea of the baby being his, but he didn't he trusted Stella for telling the truth.
Now Stella kind of wore on my nerves. I mean it was a huge step for Bobby to offer marriage and even be responsible. I can understand that she wanted that love declaration, but they didn't really know each other. I kind of got the feeling she was looking for someone or something to truly love her cause she wasn't getting that from her father. Plus, she wanted to get her father to notice her. So, the daddy issues are not usually my favorite in the story.
However, I found this story enjoyable and Bobby totally won me over. I never thought he would, but I guess he was redeemable. I even felt bad for the guy when he didn't make intention crystal clear to Stella. Overall, an enjoyable read for me. So, if you like to see playboys to be redeem to be responsible guy, then you might like Expecting a Bolton Baby.
This book is number Three of the Bolton Family Saga, although I have not read the rest of the series, I could still follow this book easily. The Bolton Brothers are Reality T.V stars, while at a party Bobby meets a sexy woman and after a few drinks Bobby and Stella hook up in her car, That was suppose to be the end of it, until Stella shows up pregnant, things go from bad to worse when Bobby finds out that Stella’s father is in charge of not only their Television show but also the resort he is building.
Bobby’s one night stand has put everything at stake. The story was different to the usual romances that I read in which Stella isn’t the blushing virgin, she takes Bobby without knowing who he is and sleeps with him in his car. I really enjoyed the characters, not only do we see in depth what personalities Bobby and Stella posses but also all the brothers and their families.
I really would like to read the other books now as I have become curious about the brother’s stories now. Expecting a Bolton Baby is a dirty but sweet romance with lots of character involvement making you want to read more. But since this is a romance, not terribly unique or long I am rating it three hearts and I recommend it for anyone wanting to read a short and sweet book.
This was such a cute story. Although I haven't read the first two books, this one can be read on its own, and I loved it. I liked how the characters were able to come together apart from being completely opposite. They both needed each other in the end, and it worked. In this particular story, Stella Caine never expected to see Bobby Bolton ever again, that was until she discovers that she is pregnant with his baby. Afraid of he might think or her family, she trusts her father's friend to take her to see Bobby and tell him that he is indeed going to be a father. Meanwhile, Bobby Bolton was practically on top of his career. He is about to make millions for himself and family, so when Stella comes to him and tells him that she is pregnant, things start to change their relationship. He hasn't been able to let go of the memory when they met, and now that she is in his life again, he doesn't want to let her go from his sight ever again.
Although the characters are completely different, they both hide their feelings really well. Stella hasn't been able to let go of the fear that she has of her father and the thought of him finding out that she got pregnant before she got married makes her feel even worse. I loved how she is interested in fashion, and wants to be able to succeed in her career, but her father is getting in the way by not supporting her. On the other hand, Bobby is tired of his family not believing in him and so he takes on the challenge to do something better in his career and make his family proud of him. When the two of them come together, emotions run high and as they start spending more time together, it makes it impossible for them to let go of each other. This was a very well-written story with really great characters and a good ending. I recommend everyone to give this book a try, you will not regret it.

There’s something to be said for a man who believes in marriage. Granted, it wasn’t his first thought when it came to Stella, but as soon as he found out she was pregnant, and accepted that it might be his, he was willing, heck, he wanted to step up to the plate because that’s what he’d been taught to do. Good for him!
Stella was a bit of an oddball to me. She was brave enough to go out and have a one-night stand (though she hadn’t been looking for it when she went to the club), yet not to stand up to her father. She was apparently this incredible designer, but again didn’t stand up to her father for what she was passionate about.
And yes, Stella’s father was an a**hole to the nth degree. Yeesh.
I like how Bobby stuck to his goal of marrying Stella. Yes, he had to work around some major problems, what with Stella’s father having a morality clause in the contract to produce Bobby’s television show, but he stuck to it even after she initially turned him down. I was glad to see a stubborn hero chasing the woman for marriage, not just to get back into her pants (which he wanted also – heh).
I’m glad these two managed to get their acts together and get married. I loved the look at the Bolton family as a whole and how they came together when they needed to, even though Bobby’s brothers were pissed he’d gotten her pregnant (not that she was pregnant, but because of who she was). I’ll happily read the next book in this series when it comes out, and for me, that’s saying something. I’m not a big fan of most of the Harlequin lines, though I keep trying them because I never know what’s going to work for me and what doesn’t.
So, happily I can say this earns a 4-star rating from me. Thanks, Ms. Anderson, for writing a great book.
Bagus ceritanya, padahal konfliknya si sepele lah ya…
Family comes first bagi Bolton, otomatis Bobby ngajakin stella nikah tapi stella ga mau maksa bobby buat meritin dia kalau terpaksa dia cuma pengen bobby merhatiin anaknya / tdk usah sama sekali, dia kaga mau anaknya merasakan apa yg die rasakan, dan apa bobby mau? Dan bagaimana saat David tau stella hamil di luar nikah? Hohohohoho…
I received a complimentary copy of Expecting A Bolton Baby via Goodreads. Anything you read here is solely my opinion after reading said book. Expecting A Bolton Baby is book three of The Bolton Brothers Trilogy. I have not read the previous two books. I think this read can be read alone. It gives you all of the information you need to fully understand the story. This story is about the youngest Bolton brother, Bobby. Bobby is a successful in his own right. His family has their own motorcycle business. Bobby got his brothers to star in reality show with him and he is even in the process of building a resort. He had his whole life planned out until he met Stella. Bobby met Stella at a party and the attraction was instant. After too many drinks they slip away to the car and get it on right then and there. Bobby really thinks that Stella is really specially and asks for her number. This is where Stella reveals who she truly is, Stella Caine, daughter of David Caine. Who is David Caine, I'm sure you're asking? David Caine is Bobby's boss and his main benefactors in all of his projects. Stella tells Bobby its better this way. Better for them to not make it more then what it was, a one night stand. Two months later, Bobby still cannot stop thinking about Stella. Out of nowhere Stella pops back up at Bobby's on-site trailer at his job and announces that she's pregnant. Neither Stella or Bobby knew quite what to do. Especially since David is a very conservative man and would cut Stella off and consider her a disgrace. Marriage would be the only way out, but that is not what Stella wants, or is it? Find out what happens by reading Expecting A Bolton Baby. I hope you will enjoying reading it as much as I did.
I enjoyed Ben's story, loved Billy's, but Bobby's turned out to be my least favorite. I'm not entirely surprised though, as I always found Bobby to be the brother I cared the least about. I had a difficult time liking him in the previous books, and unfortunately, though Ms. Anderson did her best, I wasn't falling in love with him in his own book, either.
Bobby's character seemed a bit flat. I never truly understood who he was, or why he acted the way he did. I was also very confused by some things--for example, his love of cooking. I'm not saying men can't love cooking, but rather I never understood why he loved it. It was mentioned and we were suppose to just accept that he loved it when it didn't actually fit with the rest of his character in my opinion. I guess I needed more in order to like him---especially considering his actions throughout the series.
And even Stella's character seemed a bit underdeveloped as well. The story itself was okay, but I did not feel much of a connection with either the hero or heroine. In Anderson's previous novels, I've felt that connection, to some degree or another, but not so much in Expecting a Bolton Baby. For me, this one was simply an "okay" read. Not bad, but definitely not a favorite of mine.
I did really enjoy Anderson's previous novels, and will continue to read her books in the future. I would recommend this author to other readers, but would probably recommend some of her other novels rather than this particular one.
I won this at an online party and was not sure what to think when I received the book. I read it in one day. I was pleasantly surprised at the storyline and the characters. They were well thought out and defined. Bobby was the typical baby of the family that wanted to do what he had to earn the respect of his family. All along he had that respect just by being family and helping out. He meets someone that he can't get his mind off of, Stella. Stella is an only child that has lost the "family" she had when her mother died when she was 8. She has tried to please her father with no luck. So now she just wants to find someone that will love her for herself. She meets Bobby at a party that her father was to have been at and she can't stop thinking of Bobby. She finds out that she is pregnant and Bobby is the father. So she goes to tell him and see what he wants. When he does not answer her, she thinks he does not want her. When she does not answer him, he thinks she does not want him. Together with his sister-in-laws Bobby realizes that he needs to step and and tell Stella what he really wants so that she will admit that is what she really has been wanting all along due to what her father has done to her since her mothers death. Bobby's grand gesture of love and family is the ultimate proposal for Stella. She accepts his marriage offer and gets her dream. The wedding guest is only family and she is surprised that her father shows up at the last moment.
For Bobby Bolton things are on the right track. He has a reality tv show and he is building the resort of his dreams. So, why does he feels as if he is missing something. He keeps back to the night he spent with Stella Caine. But, she is the woman who he must forget as her father is David Caine, a traditional marriage proponent with moral clauses on his contract. And Bobby has signed such a contract as David Caine is an investor in his project. Bobby is in the middle of such musing when someone knocks on his trailer door. Basically, Stella Caine is there, and she is pregnant. Now Bobby is stuck between protecting his family’s investment and a future with Stella.
I picked this book on a whim. Considering the title, I was not expecting much. I am glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The writing is not stellar and the story seems plagued with the oh-so-obvious plot device of miscommunication. But, it was an enjoyable story. Bobby was an agreeable character and Stella was broken (and very victim-ish). I kept hoping she’d grow a backbone. The story was not ridiculous and moved at a good pace; it did not drag or obsess about minor details. This is a great novel to read one afternoon by the fire if it is winter or outside if it is summer. Quick read, good characters, good plot and narration.
Bobby is going to be a father! Something that he never expect to happen but it did. Bobby spent a night with Stella and as a result, she is pregnant. She doesn’t want anything from him but she feel he have the right to know. What he doesn’t know was that she is his biggest investor’s daughter. Bobby is well known bachelor but since the night he met Stella, he hasn’t been interested in anyone else. Stella, on the other hand, though she was born with silver spoon in her mouth, she is a humble person. She doesn’t have a good relationship with her father since her mother died. Despite her success as a designer, she is yet to earn an approval from her father. She want more than ever this baby but she doesn’t want a marriage of obligations. She want to love and to be loved. There are conflicts surrounding them as they prepared for their bundle of joy to arrive which they need to overcome and clear between them.
I love Bobby for acknowledging his responsibilities to his unborn child and the way he stand up for Stella’s father in public. I like the way the author have written the interactions between the main characters which are interesting and at times have given me a cosy feeling by just reading those lines between them. Overall, this a sweet read and lovely romance for me although I find the ending a little too abrupt.
One thing I know when I finished reading this was that it's too short, and I want more! I mean, well, the whole point was already there. It's just, well, I guess everything happened way too fast.
I started reading this without knowing that this was a third book of Bolton trilogy, and I was glad Ben and Billy showed up because it made me want to read the book about them.
I loved both character of Bobby and Stella. And Mickey. And Ben. And Billy. Although it might change or gets better once I read their books. I enjoyed reading this, and loved the connection in Bolton's family, the lesson that family always comes first. I loved the idea that Bobby got a closer relationship with his mother. That's soooo sweet. No wonder he's the salesman, no wonder he loves people and always see good in others. I guess his parents were doing great job in raising their boys. :)
Again, I always love trilogy about brothers. So I can't wait to read about Ben and Billy.
Cute Story and an easy read. I was a little surprised by this story because I expected a story about a couple who was engaged and waiting their baby but the story started earlier than that. This was a tale of a couple who had a one night stand that left them both wanting more but not committing to what they wanted. When Stella shows up pregnant and broken, Bobby wants to do the right thing. He wants to marry her but he doesn't express himself well. All Stella wants is a family and to be loved. However, her experience with family hasn't been great up to this point and she refuses to put her child through the same thing. Stella did wear on me a little. And I was rather annoyed by Bobby's internal dialogue because he just wasn't saying what he meant. I kept thinking - just say it but it was realistic so while it was a bit annoying it didn't take away from the story. I found myself captivated and rooting for the characters. Definitely a good read.
