I started and finished reading this book today - it is a quick and easy read but that's not to also mean it is uninformative. There is approximately 250 pages to this book and I read all of them. I am also new to Lenormand cards but not new to tarot or other oracle cards. I know that the Lenormand cards are different because there is a different style of thinking behind reading these cards. I would not say that being proficient in tarot has helped or harmed me in learning - but I am really just beginning on this journey with these tiny decks of cards. I already own three different Lenormand decks and I am strategizing on creating my own! This book was a great introduction to the history and the story behind these cards. There are helpful areas with guides on how to read them, different situations and example exercises to do to familiarize yourself with how to read this interesting deck of divination. I even did a few sample readings for myself whilst reading the book to practice some of the techniques and I was quite surprised at what I was able to learn.

I do not believe this is the *only* book a person should read if they are interested in learning Lenormand. In fact, there are a lot which are better - but it is a good start and can be a fair base to build a foundation of learning on.

For more than a year now, I have been happily learning and studying and offering professional Readings using Lenormand Decks.

I recall this book mentioned in "Learning Lenormand: Traditional Fortune Telling for Modern Life," by Marcus Katz and Tali Goodwin (which I previously reviewed).

I found the first chapter, "Secret 1: The Meanings of the Cards: 1-36" very long. I think this was because of a few reasons. First, I have already read several books on Lenormand, so I have read the meanings of the traditional 36 Cards of a Lenormand Deck, several times. In addition, there were meanings that Ms. Steinbach associated with the cards that I had never encountered previously. Granted, I have only read six or seven books about Lenormand, but this was the first one that associated the Moon Card with erotic senses and with romantic associations.

From every other book about Lenormand I have read, Lenormand Cards are read collectively. Yes, seeing the Heart Card can represent a possible romantic relationship, but if the Anchor, Ring and House cards are absent, then the possibility of a romantic relationship seems very slight, at best.

However, every chapter (or, "Secret") after that, was enjoyable to read and very informative. Being a professional Psychic Reader and Energy Healer, I especially enjoyed the chapter on developing one's Psychic abilities. The techniques were not new to me, but they were presented in a new way for me, and I enjoyed that very much.

I also enjoyed learning about "Multi-Level Readings," and really enjoyed seeing how to incorporate as many as 15 Lenormand Cards to answer one to three questions. Although I have only done a Grand Tableau, once, and only for myself, I can see using 15 Cards as a nice alternative to a Grand Tableau (or, GT, for short).

This same chapter had a section called "The 10 Psychic Commandments," which are great references for keeping one's card reading practice, especially professionally, on the right track.

I would have loved to have enjoyed this book more, but I have learned a great deal, and happy that my knowledge of Lenormand has increased even more.

I recently started the study of the Lenormand deck. I love it. I have used Sylvie Steinbecks book as a go to when I am feeling stuck, confused with a card throw. I'm really pleased with this as a reference. Wonderful book.

In a time before Lenormand cards became all the rage, Steinbach's book was the only one available in English. It has since been eclipsed by other works, but I still find it useful.
