Stan and Jan Berenstain (often called The Berenstains) were American writers and illustrators best known for creating the children's book series the Berenstain Bears. Their son Mike Berenstain joined them as a creative team in the late 1980s.
Every word here starts with a C besides ‘and’, ‘yes’, and ‘no’. Pretty impressive. A fun story and because it’s a bear, the clown is not as terrifying as normal, still scary, but better. Brother bear is the Ring Leader and Papa bear is the clown. A story for beginning readers.
The kids are Berenstain bear fans so it was a hit in our house. 5 stars from them both.
The Berenstains do a great job teaching children about the letter "C". The books is full of all words beginning with "C". They continually use the same vocabulary over and over, "Can Clarence Clown catch cats carrying canes?" The text is larger than normal and stands out boldy in black at the bottom of the page. Each picture/graphic correlates with the text, allowing the reader an easier time if they are having trouble. This book is appealing to younger students because of the vivid colors and all the strange actions that take place in the book.
Language Arts/Spelling
Younger students could come up with a list of other "C" words that are not mentioned inthe book.
All the words starting with the letter 'C' & they were a bit tough for the little children to read & enjoy. Someone has to read to them & what's the point when they themselves cannot read. Its better to give them much easier words to learn & understand..
Full disclosure, my friends have children and I was one book away from 60 books on New Year’s Eve. The adults were more captivated than the children, but fun was had by all.
This is a fun book for beginning readers. The words are not particularly simple, but they rhyme and have a nice rhythm. It's a good book to challenge children and help them learn new words. We had fun reading this book together.
Like the B book this was also a nightly read with my children. They enjoyed this one a little less, but still found amusement in it. Mommy and Daddy from time to time start spouting the rhymes to it out of no where just because of Clara Canary. CRASH! Very silly readings to you kids, NOW GO TO BED!
The alliterations in this book (all "c"s) had me so tongue tied, which is fine but I don't think this book was supposed to be that way. Story was fine. Art was okay (clowns are just creepy no matter who draws them).
Read by L (with a little help from her family), I'm glad I bought this at the library book sale for 50cents! It goes well with the A book and the Berenstain's B Book! :)
C is for Clown Plot: This book is about “Clarence the Clown” aka Papa bear in a circus act attempting to balance a lot of objects that start with the letter C.
Rating: 5 MMM HMM! A WHALE doesn’t make him topple over but a canary does? Another outlandish book (just like 10 Apples on Top) that shows a scenario that could NEVER happen! But it has a lot of good C words to learn. I would have liked them to be all C foods. That would have made it a little more interesting. However, there was cake so.
In most circus acts the talent only perform acts at which they are well-practiced so that they don't make any mistakes during their routine in front of an audience.
Clarence, however, throws caution to the wind. You're a brave man, Clarence.
C is for Clown is a funny 'What if?' adventure about a clown preforming and catching a series of animals. Reading it to preschool children it is a good story to talk about make believe and teach that concept to the children.
