*This boxed set includes the first three bestselling books in the Her Russian Protector series: IVAN, DIMITRI and YURI.*

IVAN (Her Russian Protector #1)
Desperate to find her sister, Erin goes to the only man in Houston who can help her--Ivan Markovic. The intimidating, tattooed Russian operates one of the most elite mixed-martial arts training centers in the world but it's his shadowy past and reputed connections with Houston's underworld that interest her most.

To find her sister, she'll need the help of her big, scary Russian protector--but asking for help from a man like Ivan carries a steep price, one that might just include her heart.

DIMITRI (Her Russian Protector #2)

Refusing to lose her brother to the violent Hermanos street gang, Benny turns to Dimitri, the dead sexy Russian who lives in the apartment above her family's bakery. He's the only man tough enough to get through to Johnny and save him from a life in prison--or worse.

There's nothing Dimitri won't do for Benny, even if it means dealing with her troublemaking brother. He quickly realizes that it's not just Johnny and his thug friends that pose a threat to Benny. A shady real estate developer needs to buy her bakery to secure a multi-million dollar deal and he'll stop at nothing to make her sell.

Threatened from all sides, Benny finds safety in Dimitri's strong arms--and in his bed. Her big, sexy Russian has no intention of ever letting her go--and he'll brave the fires of hell before he lets anyone harm her.

YURI (Her Russian Protector #3)

While clawing her way out of Houston's worst neighborhood, Lena vowed to never let any man have power over her. After a lifetime of broken promises from her criminal father and a mother who abandoned her, Lena believes that love makes you vulnerable. She's never been tempted to test that belief...until Yuri.

Sexy as sin and with a dark reputation, Russian billionaire Yuri Novakovsky survived a miserable childhood of poverty and neglect to ascend the pinnacle of success. He enjoys the perks of his massive wealth without much thought to the consequences...until Lena.

When Lena's father and cousin blunder into an international art theft operation, Yuri seizes his chance to be her protector. But when past misdeeds catch up with him and threaten Lena's safety, Yuri puts her love and trust in him to the test.

He'll prove he's the man she needs--a man she can depend upon and trust--one sensual, wicked kiss at a time.

Riiiight, so what we’re dealing with here is a quite saucy series of Russian uber-males and damsels in distress. I’ve spent three days reading 3 books from the series so far. Each book focuses on individual Russian guys. I have read “Ivan”, “Dimitri” and “Yuri”… “Nikolai” is the fourth book for me to tackle and hopefully soon as his story line has been gradually building up throughout the first three. I am now aware the series will build on to sequels for some of the guys and that there is also a books focusing on Sergei, Kostya, Alexei, Danila, Vasya… You get my gist. Lots of Russian heat!

I can honestly say I am not too sure if I will be reading all of them because the first three were really written in a pattern. It was him brooding over her, him and her profess their undying and unconditional love, something happens to put them into danger (whether a mobster or gang related street war, or a personal vendetta), he saves the day because he’s a rich macho and life goes on. Oh yeah, not to mention the repetitive, seedy bedroom action. I am, however, rather interested in Nikolai’s story as he is still connected to the dark dealings of illegal sort and I think I need to read Kostya’s story because he’s the guy that shows up with bleach and plastic bags to clean up blood! Yeah, you read me, a super-cleaner of sorts (or a mob cleaner, to call things as they are!)

Generally though, I’ve had a good few laughs and more than anything this series has made me contemplate refreshing my Russian language skills. Not that there’s a lot of Russian words in books themselves, but things like “He cursed a line in Russian” and my brain is filling in the parts with all the Russian curses I know.

I like the series because the camaraderie and, say, for the respect in between the men that has been woven neatly into the storyline. So, if there’s a book about one of the guys, all others appear as well whether to help out in fighting a Mexican drug lord, to win a ridiculously expensive painting in poker or in the form of bodyguards. The female characters are created nicely as well- they all have their history to tell and are all completely different to each other with various personality traits. I guess, this is what makes the series interesting- there’s something fresh yet familiar in each book.
Because I found them a bit repetitive I gave each of the three first books a rating of 3 stars *** but I would still recommend the series to anyone out there looking for exciting and entertaining read.

Her Russian Protector Boxed Set by Roxie Rivera is three stories about four friends who grew up in Russian orphanage and bonded as brothers. The first story-Ivan-was nice but short and blunt in terms of romance and suspense. Dimitri and Yuri's stories were more fleshed out both character and story wise. The fourth friend, Nikolai, has his own book which released separately.

I'll just give a quick rundown of 'Yuri' since I normally only review Young Adult and this review won't even go on my regular blog, youngadultatheart.com:

Yuri is a billionaire in love with PR princess Lena Cruz, and when she confronts him over what she mistakenly suspects is shady dealing trying to undermine her club, the two start dating. There's lots of hot sex and lots of talk about feelings and are we moving too fast because it takes place over the course of about one week. Of course there's some gang/mob trouble but nothing a big tough Russian can't handle.

I like Roxie Rivera's books because the guys are always huge and alpha male but when they look at their woman they go all dopey and sweet. I love a big man, my husband's seven feet tall, although I could do without the inherent bossiness in Roxie's men and also the women's complete happiness to be bossed around. She tries to make the relationships equal but often fails, but even then I don't really mind, it is fiction after all. I love me a big sexy Russian.

I probably won't go on with the series, it just seems to melodramatic and it's always the same thing: the house gets broken into, the woman is threatened, the Russian goes all alpha male.

Probably the star of the book is Sasha, the enormous Caucasian shepherd who, obviously, hates everyone but falls in love with Lena at first sight.

fabulous series

Ivan - 5 stars

I must admit I didn't really expect much from this book, I thought it would be the usual alpha male, pathetic female and lots of sex and little story but I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately and have resorted to re-reading my favourites so this was a short book and I liked the cover so I gave it a whirl and I'm glad I did. The characters were fantastic Ivan was huge and powerful with danger written all over him but he had a soft caring side, Erin's looking for her drug addict sister Ruby and asks Ivan for help and although she doesn't always do as she should it's always in a 'ok I can see that or yes I would have done that' kind of way not like a lot of female characters who act like they've had a lobotomy.
This was a complete story albeit a short one it introduces a range of interesting characters which will make up the rest of the series.
Still can't believe how much I enjoyed this book compared to what I was expecting, bring on the next one.

Dimitri - 5 stars

I'm loving this series, I love all the characters although I'm eagerly waiting for Nikolai's book, anyway back to this one Benny is struggling to keep the family bakery going, her brother Johnny is no help at all and has got himself tangled up with a local gang, Dimitri is renting the apartment above the bakery, more due to his attraction to Benny than anything else since he has the money to live where he likes. On top of Benny and Dimitri we keep in touch with Ivan and Erin from the first book as well as Nikolai, Yuri, Vivi and Lena. A great read it's a little hotter than the first book but then it is longer.

Yuri - 4 stars

This is a really great series but I have to say this was my least favourite of the three so far, initially I didn't warm to Lena the same as Erin and Benny although she did grow on me but I think it was mainly that this book had a 'mystery' in the story but it wasn't a mystery since it was apparent very early on you was behind it and I found myself saying "it's !!!!!!!" all the time which I must admit spoilt it for me.
Will I be buying the next book? Yes of course since the next one is the one I've been waiting for Nikolai.

Ivan - 3 Stars
I could probably bump it to 3.5 stars but I guess it wasn't what I was expecting and it was all a little too fast for me, I much prefer a longer story so you get more character/relationship and world building. You blink they had intimate moments, blinked and they were in love, blinked again and it was 5 weeks later with no real in-depth story, it was all glossed over too much and for a first book in a series about hot alpha Russian protectors I guess I was expecting a bit more grit.
It wasn't a bad story, what there was of it, it was just missing details.
The h was a bit on the boring side and the H was a real sweetie to her, I liked the secondary characters enough to try the next in the series. This was the first book I've read by this author, overall ok, it didn't wow me but the synopsis of the next book interests me enough to continue with it at this stage.

Dimitri - 4.5 Stars
Wow, loved, loved, LOVED Dimitri and Benny!!!! While I liked the first book, this one was even better, for starters it was a better length and I felt you got to know the characters more, they become more believable!
Secondly I LOVE when friends become lovers and this one was done to perfection! Dimitri was totally swoon worthy. This author has the perfect balance in her alpha men, no jerks here but with enough dominance to steam it up!!!
Great plot, great secondary characters as they are mostly seen from the last book and loved them in that as well. Enough glimpses of the future relationships that make me excited to pick up the next books in the series. Highly recommend this one!

Yuri - 4 Stars
I really enjoyed this one as well!
For me the main "villain" was a little predictable but the secondary one was a bit surprising which was a nice bonus. Love it when its not totally predictable.
Yuri and Lena both had annoying bits for me but overall they were a good match and had great chemistry. Nice plot, felt it moved along nicely, though the part where Lena takes the blame and gets off with no consequences is a bit iffy!
Love the bond between the men/brothers and we got a bit more of their history in this one, can't wait for Nikolai and Vivian's story, really looking forward to that one.
Sasha the dog added a nice element to the story!
Onto the next one.

Book 1 IVAN
Intriguing story and characters. I loved Ivan's protective and sweet nature with Erin. His life has been harsh and brutal but with Erin he sees something precious that is worth fighting for. I liked Erin's tenacity. She is devoted to those she loves. She will not give up on her sister even with years of watching her self destruct. The relationship between Ivan and Erin is explosive. Once he has her he will never let her go. I loved that she wasn't afraid to look beneath the surface to find the real Ivan underneath. Great beginning to the series.

Book 2 DIMITRI
Terrific series. Dimitri is a superb hero with a bit of thing for sweet curvy Benita. Benny is super spunky but not hardened despite all that she's going through. Plenty of action. Benny is awesome wielding a bat when the thugs appear. Dimitri will do anything to protect her and make her life perfect. Loved the ending.

Book 3 YURI
We finally get to see Yuri, the international jet setting billionaire playboy meet his match. One look at Lena and he's a goner. Too bad Lena won't give him the time of day. No matter how much Yuri offers her by way of a job or by trying to impress her with his money and yachts, she isn't buying. Lena's life has been brutal and men like Yuri only want to leave her with a broken heart. I loved watching these two navigate the beginning of their relationship. Once Lena is willing to let down her guard even a little bit, Yuri steps in. His commitment is complete and he proves it to Lena in big ways. Lena is one tough girl on the outside but internally she's pretty fragile. Watching her trust in Yuri grow is beautiful. The storyline is fantastic. Evil plots, revenge, intrigue, sabotage, kidnappings, steamy encounters and lots of sweet moments.

Highly Recommended Author and Series

Love IVAN. DIMITRI. YURI
I love this collection so much, last Christmas I bought the rest of the series. I absolutely love and would recommend these books over and over. Each man is different. Each one is loving and badass in there own unique ways. After finishing IVAN and falling for the Russian protector, I thought how will Dimitri compare, thus a unique experience to behold inside of my head.
Dimitri is quick to help Benny in her kitchen, and I love the explanation of why he is really sticking around. He's almost the guy who will take care of you because we, some women, prefer to tackle every challenge in the world alone. He's just the backuo we need.
Yuri...what can you say about him? Oh, the Russian Tony Stark, would be a very good representation of just who Yuri is. He is also scary with how diplomatic and precise his intelligence and influence is. Although he is not the type of hunky man I personally gravitate to but he does endear in my soul.
Yes I'm saving Ivan for last.
Ivan, the man who tried wildly unsuccessfully to keep Erin at arms reach. I'm so glad their story was first. How he loves her so fiercely and seems to know when she need the gut wrenching truth or just the gentle words that would seem forgein to a man like him.
And yes the other books are amazing as well. Sorry it's time for some Russian love again. I've read them about a dozen times now.

Average 4 Stars

Ivan -
4
This was a very quick paced mafia romance. I enjoyed getting to know Ivan and Erin, and am glad they didn't do the push and pull game throughout the book. There was plenty of emotion, and the drama was outside of the couple, making them work together to get through it, which I love.
I do wish it was a little more drawn out, more suspenseful maybe.

Dimitri -
4
Dimitri and Benny's story is fast paced with a friend's to Lovers base. I love the danger throughout the book and the fact the couple sticks together through every obstacle thrown at them. They truly are meant to be!

Yuri -
4.5
I really loved the romance between Yuri and Lena. There were a few things that were confusing to me about their pasts, but I was easily distracted by what was happening in their present.
I'm not easily surprised by endings, but the twists and turns that this book threw at me were awesome and mostly unpredictable. I guessed half of what was going on, but not the other.
Overall I definitely recommend this book, along with the series.

A really great, sexy collection from Roxie Rivera, a new-to-me author, that I picked up while it was available free on Amazon. I'm always a big fan of the strong, almost silent heroes, who turn super sweet for their heroines. And the little bit of suspense made this that much more enjoyable. Good reads!

Brilliant 3rd book

Having now read the third book I'm loving this series. The first one I wasn't quite sure but still wanted to give the second ago and I was glad I did as it was so much better than the first but this one.....this surpasses the other two, its intense, exciting, emotional, and brings in all the characters from the other books too....I can't wait to read book 4

Since it’s a boxed set, I’ll just do mini-reviews for each book in the set.

Ivan (3.5 stars)
Erin’s search for her drug-addicted sister leads her to Ivan, former Russian mobster now gym owner. Instant attraction leads them to the middle of a potential gang war on the streets of Houston.

Insta-love aside, Erin doesn’t make any real TSTL moves and Ivan’s protective love hooked me on this series. The background of Houston and their mutual friends attracted me and kept me reading.

Dimitri (4 stars)
Dimitri and Benny have been attracted to each other for years, ever since Dimitri moved into the apartment over her family’s bakery. When Benny is threatened by a shady developer who’s trying to force her out so he can bring big-box stores into the neighborhood, Dimitri steps in to protect her, with a little help from his friends.

I liked that Dimitri and Benny’s relationship starts as friends with an attraction that’s built up solidly throughout. Benny’s struggled to keep her family and her business together, yet never comes off as a true damsel in distress. When the chips are down, she steps up and helps Dimitri as well as herself.

Yuri (3 stars)
Lena is a friend to Benny and Erin, and is a PR whiz who grew up in a rough neighborhood and never wants to be dependent on a man. Yuri is the billionaire of this crew, and he’s used to having whatever he wants - until he meets Lena.

The weakest of all the stories, Yuri wasn’t a big alpha, and he screwed up a few times, but he had decent chemistry with Lena. This felt more like a bridge book, giving me details on Ivan/Erin and Benny/Dimitri’s HEA, and building up the tension to finding out Nikolai and Vivian’s story, that I ripped through it in short time.

The Bottom Line (4 stars)
My new cracktastic series - I really liked the ‘verse Ms. Rivera has created here. Dimitri’s relationship with Yuri, Nikolai and Ivan since their days in an orphanage in Russia clicked for me and enough hints are dropped in this story about their history drew me, wanting to learn more about these men. The heroines are also strong enough while acknowledging the dominant tendencies of their men.

There are continuity issues, and there’s a bit of samey-ness to the love scenes, especially reading the books back to back. Overall, I got hooked and fast to Ms. Rivera’s writing and I look forward to finishing this series and seeing what else is on her backlist.

3.5/5

I had been hearing from some that this series was a good one and when I saw that the box set is free and decided to grab it. I quickly ate it up and enjoyed it enough to know I will be getting book #4 sometime in the future.

The stories where simple yet captivating and provided that alpha male read I was craving. The gals are a bit of the damsels in distress but it worked out okay for the type of read I was expecting.

The stories didn’t feel like anything greatly unique but were different enough that they kept my interest and I enjoyed my read.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel going in, but I was pleasantly surprised. The Russian aspect was worked in nicely as to these stories taking place in the US, Texas to be more specific. The women for each book were unique and strong in their own way. The men are very similar but yet has his own story that brings out their unique moments. I am really intrigued to find out more about Nikolai as his story and Vivian’s screams of past and turmoil.

Underlying themes in the books are drugs, theft, corruption, mobs, gangs, all things I don’t read a lot of but the stories were done well enough that they didn’t bother me and I kept wanting to read more.

Overall I am glad I read them and will at some point check out the other books in the series. So why 3.5? The stories were predictable, they didn’t feel like something completely fresh and new. They lacked a depth I would have liked especially in the men (though I am thinking book #4 might actually give me that depth). Very much a simple Alpha male with eyes only for her read.

As a whole, I enjoyed these stories. They focus on the incredibly loyal relationships of four super alpha-male types who are closer than blood brothers, and the four best friends they fall in love with. (The fourth story is not in this box set, i already purchased it and I am reading it next!). Once the heroes set their minds on what they want--the women in their lives--they will do anything to keep them. All the heroines are smart and strong. It was refreshing the ladies in the stories didn't do stupid things to put them at risk, and worked with their men to solve their issues. I liked the flow of the stories--I wasn't confused by jumping timelines that I have been seeing a lot lately. Once the relationships start, they move QUICKLY! The intimate scenes are very spicy, but I feel not crude.

The first story--Ivan-- is a novella length. I think it would have benefitted from being longer, but still packed a lot in. H and h never saw each other before, and I liked how they built their relationship--even for how fast it was.

The second one--Dimitri--was much longer, but probably my least favorite of the three. Still alpha male saving the day, but I felt H and h got along almost TOO well. I would have liked to have seen a little friction. Still, a good read.

Third--Ivan. Definitely my favorite of this collection. Ivan and Lena have a few misunderstandings in this one. I kind of wish she didn't forgive him so easily, but it did help move the story on nicely.

I would definitely recommend this series, and look forward to reading more from this author!

This turned out to be a really great series or the first three in the series anyway. You can't go wrong with this box set especially while it is free.

Ivan and Erin's book was probably the only one that wasn't quite as good as the others to me. It was a short and fast read but still a good one. It was kind of more insta love than the others but at the same time you could see that it was love not lust for these two and we get to see them in the other three books going strong.

Dimitri and Benny's was great, the story and plot was a little more in depth than the first book which was an improvement. I absolutely loved Dimitri.

Yuri and Lena's was the third in the series and probably my favorite, even though I guessed one of the bad guys from the very beginning the accomplice was a shock that I didn't see coming. I actually felt bad for the accomplice.

Granted these all seem to have the same general formula but they are great some what light reads. There is some action, a little mystery, and best of all great love stories. I will definitely keep going with this series with Nikolai. I will say that it yet again is much younger girls with older guys but at least for the most part the girls are mature and make it believable, still wish authors would get over this trend it is so old. I also hope we get Ty and Vasya's story by the end of Yuri's book I really started to like Ty.

Book 1 Ivan- 2 Stars
This book was extremely short, only 15 percent of the total set. In it there were two long sex scenes (4 or 5 pages each), which didn't leave a lot of room for the plot. The plot idea of having to rescue her sister was a good one and concluded well. I just felt it could have been developed much more. The relationship was also very quick and didn't give you much insight into the characters personalities.

Book 2 Dimitri-3 Stars
This book was longer than the first, taking up about 35-40 percent. There were only three long sex scenes leaving a lot of room for the plot and relationship to develop. The author tries to make Dimitri out to be more in the BDSM life, but she failed in her research, ultimately he just likes variety and a little kink. The plot of reusing her brother from the gangs was very real and well written.

Book 3 Yuri-4 Stars
The longest book in the set by far taking up almost half of the set. The plot was much more developed making the reading extremely enjoyable. The sex scenes seemed well placed, not to many, not to few. I loved how rescuing her father lead to such a great twist in the story (not saying anymore, I don't want to give it away). I do have to say I love Sasha, the dog. I would love to see one of those dogs in person. I also believe Sasha added some comic relief and deserves a steak dinner!

Addictive

These stories of the Russian alpha men and the strong sexy Latinas they fall for are addictive! While the plots are pretty similar: Russian hunk likes/loves sexy Latina from afar, Latina has a crazy family member that's engaged in some sort of criminal activity that endangers Latina heroine, hunky Russian dude has to rescue the feisty Latina who is usually fiercely independent, but then she falls in love with the hunk and they get their HEA.

So while the plots are similar and thus pretty predictable, the stories are still well written with great characters, steamy sex scenes but also great romance. It's refreshing to see the heroes unabashedly demonstrate how much they love the heroines in the stories and it's also nice to see the heroines act like grown women, not ingenues or really flighty adolescents. Also the author does an excellent job with introducing the secondary characters and setting them up for their own book. I can't wait to read Nicholai and Vivian's story. I actually read the story of Alexi and Shay first but liked that book so much that I went back and started reading the series from the beginning. A really enjoyable series!!!

This is a review about the writing, not a recap of the stories.

First, all three stories were basic cookie cutter type. There is nothing all that special about the plot line or the characters. I felt I could just exchange the main characters in all the books and STILL get the same result, because they were all patterned the same.

Most of the sex scenes are vanilla and not all the creative.

What turns me off the most about books with animals/pets in them, is that most authors have actually no idea about what they are writing about. It was the same with this author. The "bear" like dog she writes about is NOT, I repeat, NOT friendly and would not "take" to a new person so readily. That, and the unbelievable breaks in protection for one of the female characters, makes me not interested in this series anymore.

I bought it as a boxed set and now wish I had started with just the one.

Surprising

I grabbed this set as a freebie thinking it would likely be cheesy due to the title. Since it was free and the synopsis sounded interesting, I decided to try it anyway. Surprisingly, I ended up really liking the stories. I got a bit tired of the constant mentioning that the guys were Russian (figured that out from the title) and ended up skimming over some of the sex scenes because there were a lot of them and the sexual language was a bit crude for my preferences. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the stories and found myself attached to the characters. While the stories had a thread of similarity running through them, each was different and had its own conflicts and dangers. I liked the alpha guys and the kick butt women who took them on. In fact, I've already purchased book 4 and finished it because I couldn't miss Nikolai and Vivian's story.
