Burn is the sequel to Scan, and picks up exactly where the previous book left off. After suffering from a diabolical cliffhanger ending, and hoping that my library would hurry up and purchase Burn so I can see what happens next, I can honestly say that the wait was absolutely worth it and I don't think this series is finished yet. Burn may even be better than Scan. Tate Archer and his girlfriend Christina Scolina are on the run. Tate's father is dead thanks to events that he triggered, his mother has been shot, and Tate has lost the Scanner to Race Lavin. Tate and Christina continue to be hunted by both the The Fifty and The Core (Think Alien Humans) to find out what other information Frederick Archer was working on at the time of his ill timed death.

Meine Meinung:
Nachdem ich den ersten Band beendet hatte und das Ende eine ziemlich krasse Wendung genommen hatte und auch noch ein paar offene Fragen geblieben waren, musste der zweite Band natürlich direkt danach gelesen werden.
Das Cover finde ich auch hier wirklich gut, wobei ich das vom ersten doch etwas besser finde, da man hier Tate von der Seite sehen kann und irgendwie finde ich das nicht ganz so gut. Außerdem finde ich den Schal, den der Junge auf dem Cover an hat nicht ganz so passend gewählt, da ich mir Tate mit Schal einfach schlecht vorstellen kann. Ansonsten ist das Cover auch wieder sehr gelungen mit schönen Effekten im Vorder- und Hintergrund.
Der Schreibstil war auch in diesem Band wieder sehr flüssig zu lesen und dadurch, dass nahtlos an den ersten Band angeschlossen wurde, was ich übrigens sehr gut finde, kam man auch sehr schnell in die Geschichte. Auch dieser Band ist wieder aus Tates Sicht, was mir wirklich gut gefallen hat. Ich hätte es aber auch gut gefunden, wenn vielleicht mal aus Christinas Sicht berichtet worden wäre, da mich das irgendwie auch interessiert, wie sie das alles so empfindet. Das soll an dieser Stelle aber keinesfalls ein Kritikpunkt sein, denn das Buch hat mir trotzdem sehr gefallen.
Auch in diesem Band mochte ich die Charaktere wieder sehr. Man lernte viele besser kennen, die im ersten Band vielleicht nur ein wenig angerissen wurden. Aber von manchem bekam man auch ein völlig anderes Bild, was den Ereignissen zur Folge liegt. Es wurden aber auch viele neue Freundschaften geschlossen, was mir auch wirklich gut gefallen hat, da ich damit nicht unbedingt so gerechnet hätte. Aber es gab hier natürlich auch wieder einiges erschütterndes. Generell haben mir die Charaktere aber alle wirklich gut gefallen und auch der Zusammenhalt der sich entwickelt hat, hat mir wirklich gut gefallen.
Die Handlung schließt nahtlos an den ersten Teil an, was mir ja, wie schon erwähnt, wirklich gut gefallen hat, da man so dem Geschehen direkt wieder folgen konnte und es leicht fiel in die Geschichte zu kommen. Auch dieser Teil strotzte mal wieder nur so vor Spannung und ein Ereignis folgte dem nächsten. Aber das wichtigste war natürlich immer noch die Bekämpfung des Feindes und der Zusammenhalt der sich daraufhin entwickelte, hat mir wirklich gut gefallen und so entstand ein wirklich gutes Team. Aber auch hier kamen natürlich wieder sehr viele Fragen auf, worauf man unbedingt eine Antwort haben wollte, was neben den spannenden Geschehnissen definitiv ein weiterer Grund war, warum ich das Buch kaum noch aus der Hand legen konnte. Mit einigen Dingen hätte man hier wieder nicht gerechnet, was das Ganze auch wieder ziemlich spannend machte. Das Ende war auch wirklich super und total actionreich und an der ein oder anderen Stelle hat mein Herz dann doch ein wenig geblutet. Das Ende war auch einfach wieder mega spannend und auch wenn es mich nicht sonderlich überrascht hat, wie das Ganze ausgehen wird, konnte es mich doch wirklich sehr begeistern. Es wurde einfach total passend gewählt und gerade zum Schluss hin wird es nochmal sehr emotional, was im Großen und Ganzen eine wirklich gute Mischung war.
Fazit:
Wieder sehr actionreich, aber auch gegen Ende sehr emotional. Das Buch strotzte nur vor Spannung und warf wieder einige Fragen auf, auf die man unbedingt eine Antwort haben wollte, wodurch man unbedingt weiter lesen wollte. Es passierten auch wieder einige Dinge mit denen man nicht gerechnet hätte und das Ende wurde sehr passend gewählt und es fand einen wirklich schönen Abschluss. Ich vergebe dem Buch 4,5/5 Sternen.

The Scan duology by Sarah Fine and Walter Jury is great fun with lots of action, a simplistic albeit engaging take on aliens, and some swoons. Bonus points for being male point-of-view. I did have one or two issues with the first book - mainly that Tate treats his girlfriend, Christina, unfairly when he discovers that It was a very misguided judgment on his part, seeing how it wasn't her fault, but thankfully that dies down toward the end and isn't an issue in Burn. Because otherwise Tate is a really great guy, and I liked being in his head. He's selfless, but not without flaws, loyal, level-headed, and quite clever. He really thinks the sweetest things about Christina, too! Their romance, aside from the one hiccup, was well developed and a steady anchor to all of the action. Now, I'm not exactly an action girl, so admittedly I read through those sections quickly, but I like where the authors took the story in this second book and all of the moving pieces and shifting alliances involved. It's a duology I would recommend to fans of light sci-fi and fast-paced plots.

Meine Meinung:
Das Buch sollte man nicht lesen. Wenn man das "SCAN - Im Visier des Feindes" nicht gelesen hat.
Der 2. Band beginnt genau bei der Stelle an. Wie der 1. Band endet. Tate und Christina kämpfen um Überleben. Sie finde auch heraus das es außer Christinas Alien Rasse H2 noch einer Aliens Rasse gibt. Die andere Alien Rasse möchte alle Menschen und H2 vernichten und die Welt einnehmen.
Deshalb versuchen Tate & Christina das die 50 Menschen Familie und die Alien Rasse H2 zusammenarbeiten und gegen die Andre Alien Rasse vorgehen.
Laufe der Handlungen werden die zwei Tate & Christina emotional stärker.
Am Ende hatte das Gefühl das ich eher ein Action Film angeschaut habe an statt ein Buch gelesen zu haben. Die Autoren haben wirklich geschafft das ich ein kompletten Action Film in meinen Gedanken abgespielt hat. So was hatte ich bis jetzt noch nie gehabt.
Die Handlung ist schon komplett abgeschlossen. Aber ich finde das manche Sachen irgendwie offen geblieben sind. Das Tate und Christina zusammen bleiben oder nicht. Einfach die Background Sachen halt. Deshalb wünsche ich mir ein weiteren Band von der Tate Archer Reihe.
Mein Fazit:
Der 2. Band ist wie ein sehr guter Action Film. Also wenn es dazu kommt das die Tate Archer Reihe verfilmt wird. Werde ich mit Sicherheit den Action Film anschauen. Das Buch ist genial.

I love this book!
This was an incredible book full of action complications love comedy and also a lot of juicy amazing story extremely easy to get into and one of the best books I have read I definitely recommend this book.

Wenn man etwas, als Bücherfreund, selten erlebt, dann das eine Reihe nur 2 Teile besitzt.
Wenn diese beiden Teile dann auch noch eine ganze Geschichte erzählen, die wahnsinnig spannend ist, dann hat man mich schon so gut wie gefangen.
Man merkt vielleicht schon, das mir auch der zweite Teil gefiel, warum aber genau, erfahrt ihr jetzt.
Da es sich um eine Reihe handelt, möchte ich nochmals darauf hinweisen, das man vorher den ersten Teil gelesen haben sollte. Wer dies hat, kann nun endlich den Cliffhanger am Ende des Vorgängers hinter sich lassen und die Geschichte weiter genießen.
Wo wir aufhörten, geht es nun weiter und das in einem rasanten Tempo. Dies hat vor allem damit zutun, das wir bereits den finalen Teil lesen und das Ende des Buches, auch das Ende der Reihe ist.
Dies bedeutet vor allem Spannung und eine ganze Menge Action, die ich in dem Ausmaß nicht erwartet hätte. Zudem erfährt man auch einiges Neues, was es zumindest für mich nur noch schwieriger machte das Buch überhaupt aus den Händen zu legen. Alles wurde so gut erklärt das stetig AHA-Effekte erzeugt wurden und man es kaum erwarten konnte die nächste Seite aufzublättern.
Eines der wenigen Mankos die ich im Vorgänger finden konnte, waren die viel zu häufigen Liebesbekundungen von Tate und Christina. Es sollte wahrscheinlich verdeutlichen wie nah sich die Beiden standen, passte aber meiner Meinung nach viel zu selten in das aktuelle Geschehen. Auch diesmal gab es Körperkontakt und die ein oder andere liebevolle Geste, aber sie waren deutlich geringer und für mich daher viel nachvollziehbarer.
Wenn man glaubt das die Aufdeckung von Aliens das Einzige im Buch sei, den muss ich leider enttäuschen. Für was ich die Autoren sehr loben muss ist ihre Fantasie und das sie es schafften noch weitere Überraschungen ins Buch einzubauen, mit denen ich zumindest nicht gerechnet hatte.
Wenn dieses Buch eins beweist, dann das Charaktere innerhalb eines Bandes Erwachsen werden können.
Denn schon am Anfang hatten ich das Gefühl das sowohl Tate als auch Christina reifere Lösungen erstellten.
Angefangen damit, das sie nicht stetig aneinander klebten und jede freie Minute nutzten um den anderen eine Haarsträhne aus dem Gesicht zu wischen, erstellten sie nun zusammen einen Plan und zeigten dabei ungeahnte Talente.
Diesmal zeigt Tate noch mehr von dem was er von seinem Vater erlernt hat und weckte damit sogar bei mir Chemiemuffel das Interesse daran. Ob die genannten Reaktionen allerdings wirklich so klappen wie beschrieben, kann ich nicht sagen. Ausprobieren kommt für mich übrigens auch nicht in Frage.
Christina war für mich nun endlich ein Charakter den ich mochte und bei dem ich mitfieberte. Sie zeigte Stärke und Cleverness, die sie zu einer äußerst sympatischen Person machten. Sie ist ein tolles Beispiel für junge Leute, da sie sich treu ist, aber an eine Zukunft glaubt und dafür auch bereit ist zu kämpfen.
Wo ich bei vielen Charakteren im vorherigen Band noch sauer aufstoßen musste, waren mir diese nun friedlicher gesinnt. Dies lag wahrscheinlich auch daran, das viele einen Sinneswandel hatten und ihre Prinzipien stark überdachten. Nebenbei kamen auch neue Charaktere mit ins Spiel, die frischen Wind mitbrachten. Hier wäre besonders Leo zu erwähnen, welcher fast die selbe Ausbildung wie Tate bekam.
Das Charakterdesign im Gesamten ist mehr als gelungen und gab mir manchmal das Gefühl das diese Personen vielleicht wirklich existieren oder existieren könnten. Man weiß ja immer hin nie, was so aus dem All kommt.
Beide Cover der Reihe sehen sich sehr ähnlich, wobei mir diesmal auffiel das Tate überhaupt nicht mehr wie Tate aussah. Christina war wieder sehr gut zu erkennen, aber die andere Person konnte ich für mich nicht identifizieren.
Wer die Geschichte gelesen hat, wird den Titel des Buches verstehen. Zusammen sehen die Bücher wirklich toll aus, man hätte sie aber noch einen Hauch auffälliger entwerfen können.
Ein lohnenswerter Nachfolger, der mit tollen Charakteren und einer spannenden Story punkten konnte. Schade eigentlich das es schon vorbei ist, denn ich hätte gerne noch mehr aus dieser Welt erfahren.

Wenn dieses Buch eins beweist, dann das Charaktere innerhalb eines Bandes Erwachsen werden können.
Denn schon am Anfang hatten ich das Gefühl das sowohl Tate als auch Christina reifere Lösungen erstellten.
Angefangen damit, das sie nicht stetig aneinander klebten und jede freie Minute nutzten um den anderen eine Haarsträhne aus dem Gesicht zu wischen, erstellten sie nun zusammen einen Plan und zeigten dabei ungeahnte Talente.
Diesmal zeigt Tate noch mehr von dem was er von seinem Vater erlernt hat und weckte damit sogar bei mir Chemiemuffel das Interesse daran. Ob die genannten Reaktionen allerdings wirklich so klappen wie beschrieben, kann ich nicht sagen. Ausprobieren kommt für mich übrigens auch nicht in Frage.
Christina war für mich nun endlich ein Charakter den ich mochte und bei dem ich mitfieberte. Sie zeigte Stärke und Cleverness, die sie zu einer äußerst sympatischen Person machten. Sie ist ein tolles Beispiel für junge Leute, da sie sich treu ist, aber an eine Zukunft glaubt und dafür auch bereit ist zu kämpfen.
Wo ich bei vielen Charakteren im vorherigen Band noch sauer aufstoßen musste, waren mir diese nun friedlicher gesinnt. Dies lag wahrscheinlich auch daran, das viele einen Sinneswandel hatten und ihre Prinzipien stark überdachten. Nebenbei kamen auch neue Charaktere mit ins Spiel, die frischen Wind mitbrachten. Hier wäre besonders Leo zu erwähnen, welcher fast die selbe Ausbildung wie Tate bekam.
Das Charakterdesign im Gesamten ist mehr als gelungen und gab mir manchmal das Gefühl das diese Personen vielleicht wirklich existieren oder existieren könnten. Man weiß ja immer hin nie, was so aus dem All kommt.
Beide Cover der Reihe sehen sich sehr ähnlich, wobei mir diesmal auffiel das Tate überhaupt nicht mehr wie Tate aussah. Christina war wieder sehr gut zu erkennen, aber die andere Person konnte ich für mich nicht identifizieren.
Wer die Geschichte gelesen hat, wird den Titel des Buches verstehen. Zusammen sehen die Bücher wirklich toll aus, man hätte sie aber noch einen Hauch auffälliger entwerfen können.
Ein lohnenswerter Nachfolger, der mit tollen Charakteren und einer spannenden Story punkten konnte. Schade eigentlich das es schon vorbei ist, denn ich hätte gerne noch mehr aus dieser Welt erfahren.

So it's been a couple weeks, I believe, since my last review. I have been taking my time reading books, as well as sleeping a lot more. Oh! And I have been reading some manga... so I've just been a lazy reader. I also didn't review the last book I finished. So in total, I suck! Well, now I'm back!
When we ended Scan, Tate had found out his father's invention was a detection device that identified an alien race that was living on earth. They had been there for hundreds of years, breeding with Humans and now two-thirds of the world's population had some H2 (as they call themselves) DNA. At the end of the book, Tate sees a screen that gives the exact total of how many complete humans there are on earth, as well as people with H2 DNA and an unknown variable number. It had a question mark instead of a name for the species.
Burn picks up where its predecessor left off. Tate and his girlfriend Christina are holed up at one of his father's safe houses trying to plan out their next move. They believe that they are safe for the time being, but when they least expect it, in walks Leo. He claims to be the orphan nephew of Tate's father's best friend, George Fisher, who was killed in Scan. Frederick Archer was like a second father to Leo and helped train him, similarly to the way he trained Tate, when he was away on his "business" trips. Leo brings with him a brotherly quality that was lacking from the first book. I thought from the entrance of the character that he would also be a rival for Christina's love, but that theory did not pan out. When Tate sees a surveillance video from his home, where one of the Core H2 bosses is threatening Christina's Mom's life if he does not surrender himself, he decides to be the hero.
This book brings a whole different perspective into the world that Jury & Fine had created. We meet another alien race, the Sicarii, which end up being a violent parasitic race that prolongs their own lives by stealing the DNA of other beings. This new race of alien ends up bringing humanity & the H2 together in order to stop them from invading earth.
While there was no definitive finale to the book, I did get a feeling of an ending to the series. I enjoyed Burn, but I did not love it as much as I loved Scan. Their was an excitement in the action of the first book that was not as prominent in the second.

Burn is the finale to what started in Scan. I didn’t know this was a duology, or a two-book series. I guess sequel-finale are getting more popular. Anyways, I enjoyed Scan so much, I was hoping for more than two books. At least the sequel was awesome and it properly wraps up the story.
Our hero, Tate Archer, is an awesome narrator, and his girlfriend Christina is kickass too. They remind me of Gray and Bree from the Taken trilogy by Erin Bowman or Alex and Darla from Ashfall or any of those awesome sci-fi YA couples. Not so heavy on the romance though. Tate has a ridiculous amount of skills. Like the kind of skills that a secret agent/spy might have. His father taught him multiple languages, martial arts, chemistry and war strategy. And he also went to normal high school too. He’s too busy running from the Core to protect his father’s device to deal with school now.
This series is action packed. It’s like twice as action packed as many of the sci-fi books I’ve read recently. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the action and become lost and confused, but I can picture it okay. I love all the sci-fi elements of this series. I feel like going on a alien-related series YA kick. These aliens aren’t scary like the ones in the Alien movie though. These aliens are pretty much genetically identical to Humans and they call themselves H2. When they breed with a human, their offspring is H2. That’s why now 2/3 of the population is H2, though most are unaware of their existence. Tate’s father made a device using alien tech to detect the different species. Blue for human, red for H2. The scanner scan someone as orange, so do they now have a 3rd species hiding under their noses?
So much happens in this book! Allies are made between prior enemies. Discoveries are made. I’d hate to spoil the ending, so I guess you should read the book. If you have now read scan, you should. I recommend this to fans of The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, Maximum Ride, Divergent and other sci-fi/action books. I met the authors last year. Did you know Walter Jury (that’s a pen name) is a movie producer who worked on Divergent? That’s awesome! I didn’t know that when I met him. Sarah Fine also wrote Of Metal Wishes, which I want to read.

This book left little to no impression on me. But to be fair, it's been over a month since I've read it. It was very fast-paced and I loved the introduction of the antagonists. The previous enemy is no longer a concern as they've moved past their differences to more pressing matters. And that whole backstory of how it came to be--I thought it was super freaking cool. And the whole traitor part- oh my god- it just makes complete sense and left me with this huge sense of dread and apprehension that books don't often bring out from me lately. Everything fit together in the end, there weren't any big loopholes that IRKED ME badly. I really liked the characters and their relationships with each other. Yeah lol got nothing else to say.

Die Glanzoptik gefällt mir wahnsinnig gut. Tate & Christina stehen in der Kulisse einer postapokalyptischen Welt. Während sie sich ängstlich umblickt, wirkt Tate in sich zurückgezogen und nachdenklich. Der Nebel und die Funken um die Schrift, lassen es vage wirken mit einem Hauch von Gefahr.
Erster Eindruck zum Buch:
Auch dieses Buch ist in der Ich-Form aus Tates Sicht geschrieben. Die Geschichte geht nahtlos weiter und nebenher fließen immer wieder Erlebnisse und Details aus Band 1 ein, die wichtig waren und rufen so alles wieder in Erinnerung.
Protagonisten:
Tate versucht noch immer mehr Licht ins Dunkel zu bringen. All das Wissen das er sich durch harte Arbeit angeeignet hat, zahlt sich immer mehr aus.
Christina entpuppt sich immer mehr als genau die Person, die Tate an seiner Seite braucht. Auch wenn sie sich bewusst ist um das Risiko, scheut sie sich nicht davor, Tate vollauf zu vertrauen.
Wer ist Freund und wer Feind? Man rätselt nch immer wer auf wessen Seite steht und ob sie nicht die gleichen Ziele haben sollten.
Meine Meinung:
Burn, der Anfang vom Ende überrascht durch unvorhergesehene Wendungen, Charakteren die unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten und trotzdem für ein gemeinsames Ziel kämpfen. Es war undurchsichtig, nicht vorhersehbar und absolut spannend. Ich habe jede Seite verschlungen. Ein actiongeladener Roman, dessen Abschluss mehr als gelungen ist.

I'm very picky about SciFi books. I was raised on all things SciFi TV and movies, but most times I just don't seem to share that same love in books. It's one of the rare times I would actually prefer to watch the TV version over reading the book. That being said every so often a SciFi book comes along that the blurb intrigues me enough to give it a try, and this time it was definitely a winner. I'm so glad I gave this series a chance because both books were jammed packed with action and entertainment, BURN even more than the first book. So for anyone like me who's a bit leery about SciFi in their books, trust me, it's done very well in this one, and definitely worth checking out.
From the moment I picked BURN up, I could hardly put it down as one thing just happened after the next. Add in the mystery and clues Tate's father left behind as well as the sweet romance and frenetic action scenes and this one seriously is one heck of a roller coaster ride from start to finish. So if you love books that are incredibly fast paced without a dull moment, BURN (and Scan) are the perfect read for you.

An action-packed adventure, Burn picks up right where Scan ended and the adrenaline-fueled ride continues!
I'm really surprised there aren't more reviews for this book because it's every bit as good as the YA fiction bestsellers out there. I'll admit I didn't feel much of a connection between Tate and his girlfriend, but I think that might be due to the non-stop action; there wasn't really any time for relationship development. The one thing that didn't ring true for me was how Tate and his mortal enemies went from trying to kill each other and Tate literally being tortured for information to suddenly being buddies. I expected more lingering animosity as shown with Bishop. Other than that I enjoyed this book very much and would definitely recommend the duology to all fans of high-action sci-fi YA fiction.

I only read this book to get some closure for what happened in the first book and while I did acquire that level of knowledge, I wasn't at all interested in the way it was executed. It seemed like the majority of the book was just paragraphs and paragraphs and paragraphs about nothing in particular. I love this concept and I typically really enjoy suspenseful, sci-fi novels, but I got a lot of the science fiction aspect but none of the suspense that there was in the first book. I was expecting more of what happened in the first but was ultimately let down by it.

Cons: I didn't understand, at first why the authors had to introduce the Sicarii. It was weird. In the last book the H2 and humans were killing each other. Now they're teaming up??? It came out of nowhere to me, almost minus the orange scanning results.
Pros: full of action, so many unexpected events, couldn't stop reading, really good read!

Fun series. Aliens have been on earth for centuries and silently taking over. Lots of action and suspense. Scan is the first in the series and this #2. Will there be #3? Don't know but I hope so. I think this book would appeal to guys. Girls, too, but I'm always on the lookout for books to recommend to teen guys.

Handlung:Tate hat den Scanner verloren, den er um jeden Preis schützen wollte und den sein Vater als unabdingbar für das Überleben der Menschheit ansah. Doch Tate ist vollauf damit beschäftigt, sich und Christina in Sicherheit zu bringen – vor Aliens und feindlich gesinnten Menschen gleichermaßen. Im Safe House seines Vaters stößt er auf einen Hinweis, der ihm klarmacht, was den Planeten wirklich bedroht. Bald verdichten sich die Zeichen, dass sein Gegner mächtiger und gefährlicher ist, als er dachte…
Orte: Das Buch spielt weiterhin irgendwo an den verschiedensten Orten in den USA, wie auch schon beim letzten Teil konnte ich mir alle Orte sehr gut vorstellen und es hat wirklich Spaß gemacht diese mit Tate und Christina zu besuchen.
Personen: Diesmal mochte ich Tate noch weniger, da er durch seine Taten und seinen Charakter einfach unsympathisch war. Christina mochte ich so wie immer sehr sehr gerne und sie war mir wirklich sympathisch.
Schreibstil: Nachdem ich mich schon in den Schreibstil eingefädelt habe hat das Buch sich sehr schnell und einfach lesen. Die Dialoge waren wie auch schon im ersten Teil mehr oberflächlich als Tiefgaragen und ich konnte mich auch mit den Beschreibungen nicht wirklich gut außeinander setzen.
Gestaltung: Auch hier hat mich das Cover überhaupt nicht angesprochen, da einerseits Personen auf dem Cover waren und mich das Bild auch nicht angesprochen hat. Die Kapitelgestaltung mochte ich eigentlich ganz gerne, da sie sehr schlicht und einfach war.
Geschichte: Um ehrlich zu sein fand ich das Buch einfach nur noch sinnlos, zwar hat es eine bestimmte Bestimmung um die Geschichte tuende zu bringen, aber es hat einfach den roten Faden verloren und ging nur noch um die eine Sache, es ist einfach sehr langweilig geworden.
Fazit: dieses Buch mochte ich noch weniger, eigentlich gab es nicht einen Part, außer Christina der mir an diesem Buch gefallen hat, trotzdem hat es die Geschichte vollendet und es war nicht vollkommen langweilig weshalb ich. 2 von 5 Sternen gebe und mich hier auch noch einmal beim Verlag für die Bereitstellung des rezensionsexemplares bedanken.

By FAR, way better than the first book. SO MANY unexpected turns and constant action. When you reach a certain point in the book, unexpected turns and events full of action just keep happening. Way more mystery and suspense which is always a HUGE plus to me when reading books. And the answer to the mystery was an answer I NEVER would have predicted. I love how certain relationships between characters (not romantic relationships) developed and certain people could depend on each other more, it was so sweet. There were so many super sad deaths that put me almost to tears and also the romantic relationship between Christina and Tate is so sweet and cute by the end. So happy the authors gave us all the answers we needed. The last chapter put me in actual tears, but I was trying to hold them back. One of the best series finales I have ever read. Even if one of the twists was a little weird and made the first book seem kind of pointless.

I think it was definitely better than the first, and fixed a bunch of things I didn't like about the first one.
I did not see the plot twist coming so that was really good, and everything from after that was very well done.
But there were still plot holes I think, and it was clear action/excitement took priority over characters/story.
also the lowkey unnecessarily main theme of father-son angst was a bit weird
also also no spoilers but I really don't like the trope of there being a character who makes a mistake that causes gigantic problems and it's either treated like oh well, no big deal, or oh well, it would have happened anyway - but it isn't explained well enough...
idk still enjoyable and I have hope that the series will only get better

Absolutely loved the first book and was desperate to read this but due to its price I didn’t rush. Managed to get a copy via Amazon market place and read it all in 3 days. Had read some other reviews that said it wasn’t as good as the first book but I loved it. I finished reading in bed between midnight and 1pm and pretty much cried throughout. I think this might be my favourite Sarah Fine series to date.

Interesting YA Novel where the heroes and heroines are mostly teenagers. A simple plot with lots of action, fighting and death, aliens and spies, and all kinds action.

I honestly loved this series but I felt it should have only been one book. “Burn” got very lengthy & I found myself skipping a lot of the action scenes just searching for dialogue.

Burn has just as much adventure and action as Scan. I appreciate the display of relatability through Tate's character growth. I read the last two thirds in a day without being bored once.
