Members of Writing at the Ledges have a great appreciation for the printed word and each of us endeavors to creatively employ our words in short stories, essays, and poems to captivate, inspire, and even intrigue readers.
Some pieces included in this anthology will tug at your heartstrings, others may tickle your funny bone, and still more might spark an emotional connection to another place and time.
That should be expected since our backgrounds, beliefs, and politics are diverse, as is our range of ages, the youngest not yet twenty and our senior member just past ninety. These re our gifts to you, without whom our words are, as the popular song goes, "dust in the wind."
Writing at the Ledges, founded in July 2005 by Rosalie Petrouske and Candy-Ann Little (Who retired from the group in 2007) is a group of enthusiastic, creative writers dedicated to supporting one another in their individual journeys. Friendship and feedback are their two main goals. We consist of poets, novelists, children’s writers, historians and more! With over 60 members (about 20 fairly regulars to the monthly meetings), the group thrives with published authors like Rosalie, Randy Pearson, Judith Jade, Colleen Nye and more!
They combine workshoping impromptu writing prompts, writing prompts handed out before the meeting and bringing in pieces of their own works... but all in all, it's about motivating each other to write and then editing each other's works to help educate, improve... and sometimes just to lend a second eye to something.
In October 2008, the group published its first anthology, Small Towns: A Map in Words (Which is now out of print). Their second anthology, Seasons of Life, came out in January 2011. Their latest Anthology, Voices from the Ledges, is now available!
