An older (1950’s), excellently written book on the fundamentals of go strategies and tactics. The copy I have is bundled with Takagawa’s more elementary book, How To Play Go, in a single volume entitled simply “Go!”. His writing and explanations are clear and I learned some new things. If you can find it, read it.
I guess I just don't get it. Illustrations seem to be able to describe how to play. Seemed easy enough.
Reminds me of othello- minute to learn, lifetime to master.... beginning an adventure but this book was not the helpful resource I thought it would be.
Takagawa Kaku's explanations and method of analysis made this book an easy to understand treasure trove of Go knowledge. I think all Go players, kyu to dan level, will gain much from this book. The chapter on the "Analysis of Relative Value of Plays" is a weapon every Go player should use in a game.
