The best volume so far, and it leads into the second arc, which I remember preferring even if it is only half as long as the first. This volume focuses more heavily on some of the more interesting characters, like Caren, Gackto, Sara, and the Black Beauty Sisters. That's both a good and bad thing - it really highlights just how little the supposed main trio actually do, especially Lucia, the main protagonist. She really can't seem to do anything without help from Kaito or the other mermaids; it's always been true, but it's even more blatant in this volume, with the stakes at their highest. On the other hand, her relationship with Kaito is much sweeter than I'd remembered. I look forward to the next volume, as it introduces many of my favorite characters.

3'5 que des de que vaig llegir el 3 a este ha pasat tant que no me'n recorde molt.
Crec que li pille el truco a llegir manga, aixina que bé. I damunt lectura rapideta com sempre.
Està bé, però hi han parts que m'he quedat ??? No ententenia res, o pasava tot molt ràpid o estava mal explicat, per això li done menos puntuació que als demés.
I el final ja si que ha sigut porno, que apareixen els dos nuets (obvio censurats pero vaja) jajajajja

[ADVERTENCIA: ESTA RESEÑA CONTIENE SPOLIERS DE LA TRAMA Y COMPARACION ENTRE EL MANGA Y EL ANIME DEL AÑO 2003]

SEÑOOOOOOR. PERO QUE BUEN TOMO!!!!

Este tomo prometía mucho después del suspenso del tomo III. Y puedo decir que VALE TOTALMENTE LA PENA. El tomo trata de los últimos 10 capítulos de la primera temporada del anime. Y OS confieso que hubo UNA TENSION DE LA BUENA.

Seguimos luchando contras las diablesas acuáticas -tambien de hacen conocer como las amantes oscuras de Gaito-. Y las hermanas belleza negra dejan de tener protagonismo después de un fracaso muy fuerte. Y eso también pasa en el anime. Ahora, sería con el especial de final de temporada 1 con el que puedo diferenciar cosas del anime con el manga en cuestión:

1.- Las princesas no pudieron estar transformadas todo el tiempo en el manga, pero si en el anime.
2.- Gaito no usa la trampa del espejo y muestra a Kaito en persona a Luchia. Algo que pasa todo lo contrario en el anime.
3.- Los grupos del manga son: Por las otras princesas: Karen y Rina - Por Sara y Gaito: Luchia y Hanon. En el anime es diferente: Por las otras princesas: Luchia y Karen - Por Sara: Hanon y Rina.
4.- En el manga te cuenta más la historia de Sara a TODO DETALLE. AMO ESTE TOMO POR ESO AAAAAAA
5.- En el manga nos muestra por primera vez a Mikaru. En el anime aparece en el 4to-5to capítulo de la segunda temporada.

Es que también hubo unas escenas de acción totalmente GOD 🛐. No puedo decir mucho, pero con todo esto, ha valido completamente la pena leer los tomos de la temporada 1 y que se viene la 2. La temporada 2 es la que tiene más tragedias y necesito TERAPIA.

Les recomiendo MUCHO leer este manga. ES INCREÍBLE

me ha parecido un puntazo incluir la letra de dos canciones de la traducción del doblaje en dos momentos tan importantes.... "sólo una chica soy" cuando kaito descubre que luchia es su sirena puf el pico de la literatura

This volume (seems to have) brough the Gackto storyline to a close, while leaving the plot thread that I'm sure will guide much of the rest of the series dangling. Yes, my enjoyment is still basically dependent on the mermaids.

Auch der vierte Teil der Manga-Serie hat mir gut gefallen - allerdings habe ich auch hier wieder die Musik der Anime-Serie im Hintergrund laufen lassen, da ich so besser in die Geschichte reingekommen bin. In diesem Teil 'besiegen' die Meerjungfrauen-Prinzessinnen Kaitos Zwillingsbruder und schaffen es somit, die Ozeane zu retten. Das ging mir etwas zu schnell, aber dennoch fand ich es gut, dass Sara und Gakuto zusammenblieben - sie hat durch Taros Liebe gemerkt, dass sie für Gakuto da sein möchte. Das Ende dieses Abschnittes von Mermaid Melody fand ich gelungen, auch wenn es mir zu schnell ging.

Review for complete series

Mermaid Melody is probably one of the more internationally successful magical girl manga series out there and I apologise to all its fans: I think it's a dreadful manga. That being said, I'd like to stress that this is strictly referring to the manga rather than its anime adaptation. While I have not seen the anime, I can well imagine that it has smoothed out some of the bigger issues I have with this series and it's certainly not the premise that is bad. But before I get into details, I have to ask: who on earth thought Wet and Wonderful is a good marketing slogan for this?

Magical girl series are a little unrealistic and formulaic by nature - one needs to let go of some disbelief. But there are nonetheless many great series out there that own this genre; classics such as Sailor Moon and more recent ones that give it a bit of a modern spin like Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Between the classics and the new, there seems to be this niche of series that didn't manage to add anything new and thus didn't age well. Mermaid Melody helps itself to everything known in the magical genre and somehow manages to amplify everything in the worst way possible.

As a premise, we have mermaids that can quite conveniently take on the shape of humans. Their kingdoms are being attacked and they have to band together to eventually defeat whoever is causing all the havoc. We start off with Lucia, naturally, she is the pink mermaid. It is beyond me why she lives in Japan in human disguise, attends school and runs a bathing house. Let's call it plot convenience. Other mermaids pop up one by one to join the ranks and they're all spending a jolly good time as humans. Even when they are underwater, they seem to spend more time in human form than their true mermaid one.

Villains pop turn up in every other chapter, one more ridiculous than the other. Their ultra-evil plan is silly at best and easily thwarted: the mermaids win by singing songs. These action sequences, if they can be called such, consist of a page or two where the mermaids say a cheesy line about love conquers all and we're to assume their magical singing has saved the day. To stay true to the magical girl pattern: Lucia falls crazy in love with the first guy she sees and must keep her true identity a secret. But fear not, the young man has plenty of secrets of his own, the villains are actually sympathetic and love and friendship save the day.

None of this is new, and none of this is in and of itself bad. The problem lies within the execution and that already starts off with absolutely horrible pacing. It takes as little as 15 pages for the story to cover the prequel, the basic premise, the introduction of the main characters, the meeting of the love interest, their first argument and events just trip over each other left and right. The scenes jump around like crazy which makes every single interaction and reaction of the characters wholly unbelievable. It was hard to feel anything for this story that was just moving around at a crazy speed resulting in undying emotions that I fail to grasp. This isn't even what I would call insta love, there is zero build-up in any of the romances or friendships, everything just happens. Characters are conveniently always at the right place and time.

One of my biggest issue with this series is the stark over-sexualisation. Magical girls are typically very young - Lucia is only thirteen years old but looks a good deal older physically. It's not unusual that they are made to look more mature, I also never thought that Sailor Moon looked like fourteen, but it's the treatment of it here that I find rather appalling. There are countless sexual allusions and so many panels where for whatever ridiculous reason Lucia's clothes come undone and she's naked in front of a crowd. Her love interest is constantly making remarks and giving hints. The mermaids themselves keep talking about being or looking sexy. I just kept shaking my head thinking these girls are hardly even teenagers! The worst part was the soda drink, though. I can't decide whether it was idiotic or lazy writing - maybe both? Lucia visits her love interest while he is sick. She helps herself to a can of soda and forgets that mermaids become drunk from soda. I don't even know where to start: is Lucia that stupid that she'd forget it? It's like saying a thirteen-year-old would forget beer is alcohol. But the concept itself is what really gets me: it's so absurd, I think I prefer vampires that sparkle in the sun. And of course, this was only a means to an end to get Lucia to jump into bed with the guy and press herself against him - breasts-and-all. This scene was not sexy, it was absurd and given their age rather disturbing.

I also took a lot of issues with the art. Don't get me wrong, the art is actually pretty cute. If you like shoujo style with big googly eyes, this might be for you. I love shoujo style so I'm certainly not put off by the style overall, strictly speaking, this is just my cup of tea. But I'd have to say that the artist was extremely lazy. There are plenty of panels and artworks that show that she can draw very nicely. But more often than not, the proportions are bizarre and completely out of place. I spent a good deal of time wincing at the weird angles of limbs or distorted faces feeling disappointed because I knew full well that the artist could have done a lot better.

I know I had a lot more on my mind as I was reading this - I already didn't like it much a decade ago but this reread only seems to have made it worse. It is cliché upon cliché, awful pacing, characters without any depth, inappropriate sexual content given the age group and lots of content that had me speechless with its stupidity. I apologise again to those who love this series but I do not share your sentiment. It may seem surprising that I am still giving this a two-star rating. I'm probably being generous here but I do see this working rather well as an anime version and I do like the mermaid premise and there are some pretty cute designs. But goodness me, the plot needs a rewrite and either the characters need to be given some extra years on top or please save the sexual contents for an office romance or something.

En este tomo se termina la primera temporada del anime, además de poder verse algún que otro detalle que aparecen en la segunda.
Conocemos la historia de Sara, la cual es mucho más completa. ❤️ Además, de también conocer mejor a los Panthalassa.
Las escenas de Luchia y Kaito 😍✨🥰💫❤️ simplemente me encantan.
Aparece mucho más Karen, en el anime era un personaje más bien secundario, pero aquí en el manga tiene mucha importancia.
Me gusta eso, que todas las princesas tengan importancia por igual, según van apareciendo. Espero que continúe así en los siguientes tomos. 🥰
El final está mucho mejor explicado que en el anime, lo cierto es que aunque me hacía una vaga idea, leer que esto fuera así me ha gustado mucho. 🤩
Por supuesto, las ilustraciones siguen siendo maravillosas❣️

Otro tomo más de esta serie que disfruto de principio a fin. Este cuarto tomo se centra en la batalla final de las princesas sirenas y Gaito y acabamos de conocer las tramas de algunos personajes como Sara, Kaito y Gaito. Creo que las autoras han llevado muy bien la trama, aunque no negaré que me ha faltado una escena entre Kaito y Luchia reconociéndola como su sirena, y me ha encantado ver por fin a todas las sirenas cantando CON LETRA INCLUIDA. Este detalle me ha hecho mucha ilusión y, mientras leía, iba cantando. También me ha gustado mucho la amistad que han formado las princesas (Luchia, Hanon, Rina y Karen sobre todo) y la relación de Luchia y Kaito (la cual me parece muy bonita).
Y ese final... ay la que se viene. ¡Espero con muchísimas ganas el siguiente!

Eppure io lo trovo estremamente confuso! I cambi di scena sono fulminei e non permettono la chiusura della scena precedente, tanto che spesso e volentieri son tornata indietro per vedere se avevo saltato qualche pagina.

La storia procede male perché ho dei dubbi su quello che sta effettivamente succedendo. È come se mancasse un flusso logico: sembrano scene messe lì a caso.

Peccato.

Ma nei restanti tre volumi cosa ci sarà, visto che con questo tutte le principesse sono state riunite?

Weihnachten steht vor der Tür und Hanon und Luchia freuen sich, dass sie ihre Freunde Taro und Kaito zum Fest dabei haben dürfen. Als Kaito Luchia einen Ring gibt, ist es um sie geschehen, doch bereits zum Jahreswechsel wartet eine ernüchternde Nachricht auf sie, denn Kaito wird für einige Zeit nach Hawaii gehen, um dort an Wettkämpfen teil zu nehmen. Was Kaito die ganze Zeit dabei beschäftigt ist, dass er erfährt, dass er nicht das leibliche Kind seiner Eltern ist, sondern sie ihn am Strand fanden. Während Luchia Kaito vermisst, ruhen die Seeungeheuer und ihr Herr Gakuto nicht. Weiter versuchen sie den Meerjungfrauen das Leben schwer zu machen. Es kommt zu einem erbitterten Kampf inmitten des Ozeans.

Wieder konnte Pink Hanmori mit ihren niedlichen Zeichnungen und ihrer supersüßen Geschichte überzeugen. Luchia und Kaito gestehen sich endlich ihre Liebe und das Geheimnis um Kaitos Herkunft wird gelöst. Auch stehen neben der Liebe auch wieder die Themen Freundschaft und Vertrauen ganz oben im Kurs, was ich sehr schön finde. Spannung und ernstere Themen werden in diesem Manga nicht behandelt, jedoch kann man darüber hinwegsehen. Deshalb möchte ich diesen Manga weiterhin allen Mädchen empfehlen, die gern Magical Girl-Mangas lesen. Ihr werdet begeistert sein.

Y con este tomo acaba la primera temporada del anime 👏

Es el que menos me ha gustado de los cuatro que llevo leídos porque es el que más acción y más lagunas de trama tiene. Con cada tomo que leo prefiero más el anime al manga, pero sin duda estoy feliz de tener el manga de mi anime de la infancia. 😻

Además, en este tomo aparecen las letras de dos canciones del anime y eso me ha encantado.

Estoy deseando que saquen el quinto y espero que se le parezca un poco más al anime y no se deje tantas cosas en el aire.

El cuarto tomo también me ha gustado muchísimo pero he tenido la sensación de que había mucho saltos y muy rápidamente se fueron al final.

A veces tenía la sensación de que la siguiente viñeta no tenía nada que ver con la anterior del salto que metían en un mismo capítulo.

Pero a parte de eso, la historia me ha encantado y aquí finalizaría lo que es la primera temporada del anime.

Tengo ganas de ver al villano en ilustración 🤭

Me ha encantado. Literalmente, me ha hecho llorar con la batalla final. Por fin salen las letras de dos de mis canciones favoritas y no he podido estar más encantada. Deseando que salga el tomo 5 en español para seguir con la historia.

Para todos los que hayáis visto el anime, los primero cuatro tomos corresponden a la primera temporada de la serie, y supongo que los tres últimos corresponden a la segunda temporada.

Ya terminado el arcones Gaito, me ha matado que saliera la canción en el manga, eso no se puede leer hay que cantarla 😂

Las cosas difieren del anime pero se agradece ya que lo he disfrutado más ya que se conoces más detalles. Ahora toca meterse en la segunda temporada.

Lo que se note el esfuerzo de ponerle los nombres de Kaito y Gaito... 🤭

En este tomo finaliza lo que corresponde a la primera temporada del anime, y ha sido todo TAN nostálgico🥲 van muy rápido pero se entiende bien, a no ser que sea gracias a que he visto el anime. Me gustaría leer alguna opinión de alguien que no lo ha visto.



El sacrificio de un personaje siempre me deja fatal, merecía mucho más 💔

Finalizada la "primera temporada" de este manga.
No hay mucho más que decir que no se haya dicho ya en otras reseñas: que son unos tomos maravillosos.
Diferentes al anime en muchos sentidos, pero no por ellos mejores ni peores.
Algo a destacar es la relación de Luchia y Kaito. En los tomos se profundiza mejor, ¡y eso es un plus!

La verdad es que no me acordaba de gran cosa del final. De que Hippo era el sello del castillo (un pegaso hiper precioso🥹)de Gaito y de que Kaito es el hermano gemelo de Gaito. Y de que Sara se sella con Gaito para que no pueda hacer más daño. Así es como volverá la reencarnación de Sara. En el próximo no se que pasará porque se abre nuevo arco🧐

Es mi saga de manga y anime shōjo favorita junto con Sailor Moon. He estado toda la vida queriendo leerla y al fin la han traducido al español. Supera todas mis expectativas, es mucho más picantona que el anime y te permite comparar las cosas que quitaron del anime y, por otro lado, el relleno que le metieron.
