I started this series a while ago and forgot about it until I was looking through my list of "to-read" books. Chase Dagger is the most enigmatic of men; no antecedents, so one knows where he hails from, not even Sara Morningsky, the Native American shapeshifter who lives with him. In this episode, our hero gets involved with a mysterious man who returns to Cedar Point, Indiana, after spending five years in jail for tax evasion. Except Mitch Arnosky was also guilty of several murders that the CPPD were unable to pin on him. Now, he is back and Dagger wants to know why. As he investigates, more bodies turn up, but no one can see who is responsible, even with surveillance video. There is just no one there. Or is there? Have the Alphabet Boys (FBI, CIA, NSA, DOD, etc.) finally created an invisibility suit? Along with the rest of his gang of miscreants, Dagger figures it all out.
Chase Dagger is pulled into several cases that are linked by the most bizarre common denominator: Not one surveillance camera reveals the assailant. Not only are the ex-con's prints found in the scientist's home, but the deaths also attract the interest of the FBI, CIA, NSA, and DOD. Just when the evidence points strongly to Padre's number one suspect, Padre is accused of planting evidence and removed from the case. Enter Chase Dagger. Unusual cases require unusual detectives. Whether it's solving the case of a woman who is murdered five years aftr her alleged death (THE GOOD DIE TWICE) or chasing after a suspect not quite human (FULL MOON-BLOODY MOON), Dagger has his hands full while staying two steps ahead of his mysterious past. Book 3 in the series.
These books were a gift and I thought not really my cup of tea, but with each book I get more and more interested. I have numerous books on my Kindle that are unread, but I keep going back to this series.
