About the author

My stories are inspired by all sorts of things; the places I've been, the movies I've watched, but most of all by the work of other authors.

The authors who I admire, are people like Ryu and Haruki Murakami, as well as other Japanese writers such as Taskeshi Yamada.

I also have a long-standing love for Stephen King and also take inspiration from writers like Mark Billingham. His writing style in particular was a big inspiration for one of the novels I wrote, called 'Harbouring the Dead'.

I have been heavily influenced by the time I spent living in Japan, which is where I got the ideas for all the short stories in Seasons in the East. The country is such a mix of cultures and styles that I found it fascinating to explore the different facets in my writing. It has also served as inspiration for my new trilogy of children's books, called 'Oni'.

I've been writing since I was eight years old, when I finished my first novel, a fantasy novel very much in the vein of C S Lewis. My aspiration now is to start getting the stories that I've written out to other people to see what they think and hopefully provide some entertainment!
