I only read the DP one of these books. It was better than most of DP's work for me and that was because there was more action I think. There were also several spots where the hero said some lovely things to the heroine. On the other hand it had the usual problems that I find with this author. The story lines always sound good but the execution fails for me. Things happened really fast. By that I mean that a situation would arise and be instantly solved on the next page. She's kidnapped! Never mind, the hero saves her 12 hours later. She hears the hero say something pretty bad about her. Lots of room for angst and misunderstands and trauma but no she immediately faces the hero with what she hear and that trauma is over. And at the end Those are just a few examples.
Why did I read this when I know DP is not for me? Well I got the book for free. What can I say?
Micah Steele comes to Callie Kirby's rescue when she is kidnapped by a drug lord. Callie is Micah's stepsister who has loved him since she was 16. Micah is a mercenary and has been estranged from his family for 4 years or so all because of Callie's mother. Micah blamed Callie as well and he acts as if he hates her. He is a typical hero for Ms. Palmer and this book is similar to a lot of others that she writes. He is antagonistic towards the Callie but she doesn't let him run roughshod all over her. She has had to be tough with the past that she has had.
Ms. Palmer has written a few stories with stepbrothers and stepsisters falling in love with each other. It is not the norm but then it can happen in real life.
Her books often have the hero as a handsome, sexy male whereas the females are often unconventionally pretty, more beautiful on the inside. They are real and not like some of the women that follow the heroes around with the big boobs and the holier than thou attitudes.
The was a fast read and it has some characters from past novels and new ones that I would like to see in other stories.
Es último libro de la serie un tanto confuso el protagonista pasa por una desesperacion para recatarla, no deja que otros hombres se le acerquen pero a pesar de todo no la quiere, confuso no me gusto, la chica no debió ponerlo tan fácil...

A 2 for one book. Story one has mercenary Micah Steele trying to save his step-sister Callie Kirby from a drug lord in Mexico. Of course, he has loved her for years, but kept himself at bay. Now he can't seem to protect her from himself.
Story two has Noah Laramie returning to the ranch after being injured in the service. His brother's fiance's best friend Lily has been asked to help him get adjusted to life after losing an arm and being out of the service. Of course, they fall in love but have so many hang ups between them that they need to sort through so they can believe that love can happen to them.
After reading many of the westerns written by Diana Palmer, I was disappointed in this book. Callie Kirby, the heroine, is naïve to the extreme. Micah Steele, the hero, is a mercenary yet gets caught by the bad guy because he is too tired to swim back to shore after making love to Callie most of the night. Since Callie was sedated at the time, she thinks it was all an erotic dream! Seriously????
This western romance takes a darker tone from other books I have read by Diana Palmer. The main character, Micah Stone is a mercenary, whose life remains a mystery. Kidapping, drug dealers, and a dangerous step into the underworld make this more than a romance. The plot moves quickly and is filled with suspense.
This book is a blast from the past for me. That was the first book. The second book attached to my kindle copy was a good heart warming tale. This book would get only four stars as well. It was straight forward romance where one couple is getting married and their best man and lady in waiting fall in love.
Loved this book I have always wanted To read Micah and Callie story they were made for each other but he couldn't see beon the past to the further until she gets kinddnapped and he goes and saves her 5han he starts to see the light he saves her and fight his feelings for her tired to ignore them but he was fighting a losing battle
I love Diana Palmer, but I was really disappointed by this book. The heroine was extremely naive and the hero was incredibly cruel. I wouldn't recommend it.
