This 75,000 word novel is the sixth in the Madison Wolves series. It completes the story arc begun in Fox Revenge.
A writer by avocation, Robin has a renaissance interest in many areas. A bit of a gypsy, Robin has called a few places home and has traveled widely. A love of the outdoors, animals in general and experimenting with world cuisines, Robin and partner share their home with a menagerie of pets and guests, although sometimes it is difficult to discern who is whom.
I'm sorry but I can't read this anymore the more I read it the more I see Lara and her pack and control freaks and users. Then take and take and give nothing in return. I started out loving this relationship because it was fair now it is all about controlling the fox and she continues to give because she loves them but she doesn't anyone in the situation would start hating everyone around them but the write makes her look weak and grows weaker everyday. I will look for a book where the Fox's finally has enough and leave or the wolf's throw her out. I'll read about her strength when I first started reading this book it was about the smallest person fighting for her freedom and now it's all about her submitting herself and her freedom and giving away her life to somebody who just wants to control her over and over. Abuse is a big point in this book and the worst part about it it's mostly mental abuse and it seems like it's agreed on so I'm sorry but I can't.
This book is about what it is to be pack. And the lengths Michaela's family and friends go to to protect her.
It's another action packed instalment. At first I struggled to understand. But as Michaela becomes more aware so do you as the reader. Just follow the bread crumbs.
It's a bit of mystery and suspense. Makes you work your brain. Which I consider a good thing.
I love this series. Hope you give it a go. It's all on kindle unlimited.
The first book was truly my favorite of all that I had read this far, until this one. Seeing what happened when Michaela set out on her journey of revenge and what happened next was all consuming to me as the reader. It showed another side of Michaela that I didn’t know was there. She is beautifully brutal and deadly in how she loves those that she does. She really means that she will defend those to the death. Who knew the strongest one of the pack was a fox? I surely didn’t. I got a hint of it when she killed the Chicago Alpha’s enforcer before we even knew what was happening.
At first I was upset with Michaela. But as I got to see more of who she is, it all made sense. Sometimes I don’t understand Lara and this was one of those times.
I also missed reading the consummation of Lara and Michaela to show us their love and bond. It was noted, but not in detail. Not sure if there was a reason behind the choice or not. But it was missed. It was needed. Because somehow, I don’t feel the closeness and bond that they usually share.
Mikaela is always having to make concessions to everyone else. And Lara constantly traumatizes her further. This is not a loving relationship at all. This is a relationship that a deeply traumatized individual feels is love, but isn’t. I’ve kept reading this series because I really like Mikaela, but Lara is continuing to get worse and worse. They constantly force Mikaela to make promises that she never breaks, but Lara is constantly breaking hers. And the reason the author is doing this is because they are absolutely lazy. They completely forget about things they’ve written in past books. A way the author could’ve made Lara more likable was to bring another fox. Because the fox could explain to Lara how everyone expects Mikaela to be understanding of their culture and nature but not once has anyone tried to understand hers. I’m done with this series I am too angry with how they have the same arguments over and over again and the toxicity Lara emits.
Wow what another fantastic storyline it broke my heart at certain times, cried at other points in the book but I loved the storyline and couldn't put it down.
I have finally realized that all books from this author follows a cookie cutter theme. All books are the same just different name and settings but the exact theme.
Probably my favorite of the series after the first two books in the series. It was nice to see people recognize Michaela for the bad-ass she is instead of someone that needs to be constantly protected like she is some doll. I hated that she had to be punished but I understood it from a political point of view. Still the obvious power imbalance in their relationship is uncomfortable for me.
The babies have arrived and Michaela has vowed to keep them safe. Her idea of safe and everyone else's are decidedly different which lands the Little Fox in a cage and a trial.
Feeling betrayed by everyone she knows she much figure out what is going on and how to fix it.
