Simple, common-sense advice for a classic style. If that's your look, you already "know" this book. If you need help with looking put together, the advice in this area could easily be found on a blog for free. I did not learn anything knew and could have added a few tips of my own. I'm glad others found it useful.
There is nothing new here. My biggest complaint has to do with color. Her choices for neutrals are very good for someone with her coloring (common in France). However black and gray do not work for someone with warm coloring. A Little Black Dress (LBD) was great for Coco Chanel, but not everyone, especially for someone with light or blended coloring. A simple dress in your best neutral is a better choice.
However, her advice to keep things simple and to choose quality over quantity is sound. France, after two World Wars, was devastated. Women did not have lots of expendable money in their budgets. They had to choose clothing that would last (quality) and not be memorable after wearing it once or twice (neutrals). In the US, money was good after WWII. Wardrobes expanded; choices were everywhere. Now we Americans have learned the lesson of too much.
This short book is full of basic tips to simplify your wardrobe and help you achieve the mysterious polished look. Her straight forward writing style is filled with light humor and kindness. Marie Anne also has a useful YouTube channel where she goes into more depth on many of the book’s topics. I recently mend this book as a primer to looking more elegant.
This book has to be given to any girl, woman. Absolutely helpful, concise and straight to the point , I recommend it to everyone.
Keep it simple Less is more Quality over quantity
Those are the most important principles you have to follow in order to be the elegant chic lady as Marie anne lecour said which by the way has a youtube channel too that i find cool as well
“How To Be Chic & Elegant” was very insightful of everything French. The author is very knowledgeable and has sound advice that I will be taking. Women forget simplicity and elegance is better than what the latest fad is. I enjoyed this book and with recommend it to friends and family.
The tips presented are useful and easy to accomplish. Just remember this is for those of us who love a more classic style. It doesn’t cater to the trendy. A woman of any age will benefit from reading How to be Chic and Elegant.
Niets nieuws geleerd, behalve dat waterline eyeliner geen goede look is als je moe bent. Het is zo simpel en kort dat ik hem in 1 zitting heb gelezen. Gelukkig geen hard copy gekocht, dat zou zonde zijn.
Excellent guide. Je vais profiter chacune informatin. And I'm looking fo more books. Vous donnez des conseile au Facebook? Thanks. Merci Luzia Jakomeit
Amusing, quick read. Nothing new. I'm trying to accept the fact I'll never be elegant or stylish but there are some useful tips on how to look less of a mess.
I really enjoy and get value out of Marie-Anne Lecoeur's YouTube channel, so I thought I'd buy a couple of her books. In this book, the content is presented as a series of tips under the following categories: general tips, body shapes, clothes, lingerie, shoes, accessories, skin, make-up, hands and nails, and hair.
The tips are practical and relevant for any body size, body shape, or budget. I also love that Marie-Anne emphasizes loving our bodies and highlighting our best features, naturally. In the section on lingerie, she surprised me with Tip 70: Uplift, in which she urges us to think twice before getting breast implants. She asks us to reconsider our reasons for wanting implants, especially if it is for a current boyfriend. "You are already beautiful, inside and out. Never let anybody make you believe otherwise." She suggests trying different types of bras instead. A much simpler, less invasive solution.
I recommend the book if you're wanting to elevate your style because it's a fast, easy read with a lot of great tips (208 tips, to be exact) on how to be more chic and elegant.
This is a great tool to refine your style from your wardrobe to your makeup. Each chapter carefully illustrates through words how to curate a style that truly exudes "You". Ms. Lecoeur is fun, gives great instrusctions on how to go from frumpy to fabulous while maintaining your own essence.
Very easy to read. Full of information from the first paragraph to the end of the book. Well set out, covers all aspects from clothing, skincare, accessories, jewelry. The only book you need to look and feel great.
As in all fashion suggestion books, this is for people that live in climates far from mine. They should make a book for people who live in warm weather year round.
