Heart of Clay: A Collection of Love Sonnets

Rate this book
"This little volume of poems reveals the passion and the sensitivity of a real poet. They reveal an author's inner longings and pent-up emotions, an artistic heart seeking release."-Claro M. Recto(taken from the introduction to the book)First published in 1959, this book contains poems both lyrical and, at the same time, unabadhedly passionate. In them, Nina Estrada expresssed desires and sorrows all too often suppressed by women of her time. The accompanying illustrations are original works by National Artist Vicente Manansala created exclusively for this book.An advocate of formal structure, the poetess presents in this collection her own variation of unitary structure of the sonnet.

I love this book. The sonnets and the accompanying art are magnificently beautiful. Nina Estrada was one of the greatest modern poets of the English language. Her work soars. So good I bought this book twice.
