*****5 Irresistible Stars****

Never certain of what to expect , Im always nervous to read the sequel of a book that I love, but Resilient was everything I wished for and so much more. This exuberant story took me back to the lives of my beloved characters and once again I was enchanted by their story.

When we last read about Katrine she was broken hearted from a relationship that was suppose to be a Rebound but meant so much more. Now six months later and being the badass that she is, Katrine is determined to move on with her life, finish her MBA and kick ass at her new job; fortunately for her she has the help of her adorable son Teddy and some of the most fantastic friends anybody could ask for. All of my favorite characters from the first book are back and wackier than ever, plus there's a few new ones that complemented the story fabulously. This book had me laughing hysterically from beginning to end, and it just made the characters and the situations so much more relatable, more than once I felt like this story could easily be my life, no embellishments just lessons, romance and pure unadulterated fun.

Katrine is willing to learn from her mistakes and is also trying to be more open about what the future might bring, but she is still hurt and as much as she wants to forget about a certain someone her heart still aches for Xander. I was surprise by the new direction in which her life was going in the first part of the book but found myself loving the new and exciting possibilities. The truth is this story was totally unpredictable and I was delightfully surprised at every turn.

I can't begin to explain how crazy Katrine's friends are; their take on every situation is so ridiculously funny that you won't be able to control the laughs. We have the gay sidekick "Gusband", the straight forward tells-it-like-it-is gal, the "I'll cut a bitch" friend that has your back no matter what, the sweet and protective sister, plus a few more equally outrageous individuals and I just adored every single one of the secondary characters of this story. Another aspect that I really appreciated was that the man and the love interests while important in the story were not the center of it all, this novel is about girl power, being strong and living your life by your own rules and not having to apologize for it but to embrace who you are, no matter what.

I would recommend this book to absolutely everybody! I had a great time reading it and fell in love even deeper with Xander and Katrine. The writing style was witty, honest and very sexy. So now ,stop reading this review and do yourself a huge favor a go read Rebound first, followed by Resilient preferably accompanied by a nice glass of red wine and let this wonderful story take you on an exhilarating ride, where second chances are even sweeter and if you don't watch out you might even get hit in the eyeball with a woman's saggy boob.

Last I want to praise the author for including a fabulous playlist that goes perfectly with the story, and also I want to thank her for being so sweet to all of us, her readers who she lovingly calls The Rebound Mafia.

THE "ONE" !!!

You just know it in your heart when you find your one true love...if it is that all consuming can't live without you kind of love, then you know you found The "ONE"! You'd catch yourself taking deep breaths and feeling butterflies in your stomach, you keep glancing at the clock anxious for the time to come soon enough to be with your one true love and feel their arms around you again. You see a mirror image of the love you feel reflecting back from your loved ones eyes, that's the kind of love Xander and Katrine have for one another. Though Xander's betrayal drove them apart, it's the regret and sorrow that Xander bore in his heart, his repentance.and relentless efforts asking for a second chance earned him Katrine's forgiveness. This two are inspiring, a true match made in heaven.

I don't recall reading a book this good, so full of heat and passion, regrets and longing, yet made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes. All characters are so memorable, Katrine's friends are so refreshing, so down to earth and full of hilarity that I was still laughing when I went to bed. I want them to be my friends, I literally want to jump into my kindle and hang out with them. They are so ridiculously funny that one scene kept popping on my mind I was laughing driving to work the next morning, I think the other drivers next to me think I'm a psycho! LOL! I can't say enough how much I love this book, I love it so much I can't get enough. I didn't want it to end, please Ms.Thompson, please make another book. Perhaps you continue on another and give sweet Ian his HEA and have Xander, Katrine and her half crazy lunatic adoring friends grace half of the book, that would be a hell of a wish come true....PLEASE! :)

For me, this is the "ONE"...the one sweet, absolutely funny, most romantic book that I will keep remembering and will keep re-reading even just for an inspiration. Yes, this is the ONE absolute best!

Rebound was one of my favorite books this year. And the ending was by far one of the worst heartbreakers ever. I mean like ripped out. If you haven't read this book, you need to. So I was highly anticipating resilient. I could not wait. As soon as I read the first page, I knew why. I missed Katrine and her girls. I missed their smart assness and banter. I missed their ability to make me laugh. I mean who else gets smacked in the eye by their own boob. Yeah, true story. Well, in the book I mean. Then there is Ian. The whole time everything is happening and their relationship was developing I was like wow. Okay Ian. How can she not want this guy. I mean don't get me wrong Xander was amazing and hot. But what he did, it broke her heart after she just got it back. I get part of her heart still belonged to him, but she had to move on right? Best way to get over a guy is to get under a new one. And boy did she get under a new one. RAWR Ian, RAWR! Then it happen. Xander show back up and the wound is ripped back open. Those emotions are just as fresh. And that's the beginning of it all. The beginning of fallin back in love. The beginning of breaking hearts. The beginning of awkwardness. It's the beginning of it all. Awkward bc her friends don't want to like Ian. I'm not explaining the rest. You have to read it for that. I'm not gonna lie. The beginning of the book felt like it was a bit rushed for me. But in all fairness I preferred it bc I just wanted to get to Ian and Xander. I know, I'm Pervy like that. But when I got to it. Nikki didn't fail to deliver in any way, shape or form. She has your heart jumping from one team to the other without realizing you are doing it. She has you pulling for Xander even after you know what happened. She has you wanting to tell her to man up and fight for what she wants. The way it all unfolds is spectacular. Nikki doesn't hold back and you take the ride right with Katrine and the girls. I love that at time she has you guessing who is present and who things are happening to - who is she looking at, who is she thinking of, who is in the hospital at the end. She finds ways to keep you on your toes and it's worth the wait every time. I can't get enough Xander and Ian.

I don't write many reviews but I loved this series so much I felt compelled to share my thoughts. I couldn't put either book down once I started. I loved the story of Katrine and Xander and Ian, and the lovable and hilarious, laugh out loud group of friends. The writing is smart and witty, with very relatable characters. A story closer to real life than a total fantasy. No 20-something billionaire playboys that change their panty-ripping ways and instantly fall in love with the heroine. (don't get me wrong, I appreciate those stories too). I could totally identify with Katrine and her story. I loved her circle of friends so much, I wish I could sit down and share a bottle or two of wine with them! I highly recommend both Rebound And Resilient. I look forward to more from the very talented Nikki Mathis Thompson. Read both of these books....you will laugh your ass off!

So I loved Rebound so I could not wait for Resilient! And the wait was worth it! We left off with Katrine leaving Xander and oh how I was so upset with him. Now it's been awhile and Ian is back in her life. I have to say I didn't like Ian. Then I was falling for Ian. Resilient is so full of emotions. Just when I thought something was going to happen he story did a 180. Without giving teasers away, this book left me wanting more. I loved Katrine and her inner circle of friends. They crack me up! Charlie stole the show when they were together in their group! I loved how Katine went to all of them for advice and they never held back. I loved how Maddie had more of a role in this book. Wouldn't mind seeing her have her own story! But so so so happy with the outcome! So I'm hoping that maybe we will get more!! Lord knows I need more Xander!!! ;)

One-Click this baby ASAP!!
Resilient is a wonderful follow up novel from debut author Nikki Mathis Thompson.

After reading Rebound straight through, I was dying for more of Katrine's story. Her real personality and life situation is enhanced by fantastic girlfriends and love interests!

After her 'rebound' romance with Xander ends abruptly leaving both of them heartbroken, you are left wondering how the situation with play out between them both or with others.

Without spoiling the story, what ensues is full of sweetness, love, heartache and lots of hilarity in the form of witty inner thoughts and banter between friends!

This follow up is PERFECT!! Please tell us there will he so much more to this group! BRAVO Nikki Mathis Thompson.

Rebound is one of my favorite books ever - with that being said I was chomping at the bit for a sequel! Nikki Mathis Thompson did not let us down! Katrine is a real woman - not a gullible 20 something virgin. She wants to live life on her terms, and goes after what she wants. She has a fantastic group of friends that I would love to hang with, funny, supportive and ballsy! No lack of love interests for our girl, however the love of her life is on her mind and in her heart - Xander. Please get these books - you will love them and the amazeballs writing of Nikki Mathis Thompson! More please!!!

Seriously! Why??? :/
I was afraid this would happen, and hence I really didn't want to read this. But then I thought, no, maybe the author whom I really liked in her other two books that I read, would actually make the heroine fall in love with Ian and realise that cheating in the name of any nincompoopish reason is cheating is cheating, especially by people who were unappealing in the first place! But no, as Ian very precisely puts it, “I guess nice, loyal guys do finish last. And rich, cheating assholes get the girl…"
Apart from that gigantic turn-off of a story, the writing and dialogues, or anything for that matter, also couldn't really hold my interest.

I am glad a lot of people like this book, maybe I was missing something? Just Katrine seemed to act like a teenager when she had been married and had a child. She went from sassy to doormat in minutes! She treated Ian terribly and Forgave Xander everything, without anything ever being resolved.
So what he kept tabs on her? He didn't contact her for a year after cheating! The real kicker was the girl he cheated with was still around, and he slept with her since breaking Katrine's heart! Nothing says growth and remorse like having sex with the girl you betrayed the woman you apparantly with! He still didn't seem to see the problem! He was a joke and so was Katrine for forging all! I was done at this point! They were a disaster together!

We join the quirky cast of characters from Rebound, in this follow-up novel by Nikki Mathis Thompson. I have to be honest, I love this group of women. I think I would be friends with each and every one of them. The story began 6 months after the end of the last, and we find Katrine standing strong and seemingly healed from her broken heart. She has repaired her friendship with Ian and seems to be in a pretty good place, albeit a lonely place. She has settled in nicely at work and has started her MBA program. All in all things are pretty good. The story kicks into action with a healthy dose of jealously followed by a hot and steamy escape which changes everything. The twist and turn after an unfortunate accident leads us to part two. I must say the end of part one broke my heart and it is truly the one part of the book I wished could have been different, I felt a little gutted and sad. I think part two was well written and enjoyed the journey, I don't want to give it away so I will keep it to just that. I really enjoyed all of the sarcastic, witty and humorous banter...so up my alley. I just wish there were more, I would have happily kept reading and would have liked to see what was next.

4.5 well-deserved stars!

Ahhh……such a great book! Being a huge fan of Thompson’s first book, Rebound, I could not wait to get my hands on this baby. Let me just say, it was well worth the wait. Rebound left me with a satisfied feeling in that I was able to walk away from the story feeling as though our heroine, Katrine would be just fine, but it also left me wanting more, more, more. With Resilient, Thompson delivered just that…more! She added more of all the best things from the first book, namely the “girl time” scenes with Katrine and her best buds. People, there are tons of seriously laugh out loud moments in this book. Don’t get the wrong idea, though. Resilient isn’t just another “funny” book, it has serious heart. It has real characters. I want to be in Katrine’s circle of friends. I want to climb inside this book and go on a girls’ night out with these charming women! Resilient satisfied every expectation I had from laughs to romance to warmth to “OMG…did that just happen” moments! Please Nikki, don’t stop writing. Whether it’s more Katrine, a spin-off of a supporting character or something totally different, please give us more!

Hold on to your "muff fros", ladies, Katrine is back with her clever one liners and her hilarious friends. She puts her broken heart on the back burner, instead focusing on herself, her career, and her education. When love accidentally walks in, she hardly notices at first, but wait, she's Katrine, and she can't help but let her heart take another journey. Where the journey ends up taking her will leave you with a little flutter in that chamber in your chest.

Resilient is an amusing follow up to Rebound. It's fun and sweet and a wonderful page turning companion. You'll laugh out loud, spewing your wine across the room. And the ending....le sigh!

I. LOVED. EVERY. WORD!!!!

If you don't like to laugh or be entertained, you shouldn't buy this book, and if you don't love this book, you must be illiterate!

5 GIANT STARS!!!

Bring on some more, Nikki Mathis Thompson. We need you to keep writing!

Such a fun book to read, refreshing, something that is not too serious, I need this so bad, I couldn't put this down, the author is descriptive and makes you feel as thought you are right there in the mix, the characters are hilarious, and I could Image the kind talk in my circle friends. Ian, Ian I like you a lot but I love hot, sexy cave man Xander and I wanna more from him. Katrina such beautiful strong woman. Well done Nikki. I can't wait for your next book.

A sequel to end all sequels. Katrine and her band of crazy friends put a huge smile on my face. There were also tears, both happy and sad. And after all is said and done, a love story that just says so much about the two people involved.

Well done, very well done!!

Resilient by Nikki Mathis Thompson

This one was disappointing. With so many really great characters, a plot would have been nice. There is nothing here except snarky jokes and XXX. It didn't go anywhere for me.

*I also dropped a star for editing. I expected it with this one since book 1 was so bad, but it still should be noted.

I absolutely loved "Rebound" which finished on a bit of a cliff hanger...well more like "I so know this story is not over" kinda ending.

Any way...Rebound ended with Katrine being heartbroken by Xander - who was thinking with his crotch and not his brain at the time. I was disappointed that they didn't end up together...BUT THEN...

Resilient was written and we pickup where Rebound left off, well maybe a couple of months later. Katrine has picked her self up and brushed herself off. Moving forward with her head held high. Starting her studies - new door number one opening. Realising her close friend Ian means so much more to her - new door number two opening for her.

So what could possibly go wrong? Life is moving in a positive direction, studies are great, job is going fantastic, fabulous friends, a son who is adorable and a man friend who loves her for her...so again what could go wrong?

Things get a bit wobbly when David gets remarried...but no Katrine turns the other check and closes that door. Ian her long time friend and now special guy friend openly admits that he has always wanted her...life truly is looking up...until one day when Katrine finds herself bouncing off the hood of a car...and everything slowly loses momentum and life becomes one big ball of confusion...Namely Xander.

What is Katrine going to do? Listen to her head or her heart? Follow the well intended guidance of her friends? Who's going to get hurt? Bottom line is just what is Katrine willing to risk since she has achieved so much...You need to read Resilient to find out!

P.S. Ms Thompson...I still don't think this story is finished...this is definitely book 2 of the Trilogy...these characters still have so much more to tell in their story...Love your work, and can't wait for more!!!

5 Resilient Stars!!
Nikki Mathis Thompson does it again! This book makes you hoot, holler, swoon, laugh (out loud), cry, and I love her writing style!
All of her characters are always adoring and you can't help but get swept into the story and feel like you are a part of these people! A part of Katrines lovelife, a "gossiper" among her friends, or an innocent bystander to this fun roller coaster ride of emotions of a real life type woman!
As a lover of the first book, Rebound, I couldn't wait for this to come out since it was one of the best cliffhangers written and my favorite of 2013!

Resilient walks through Katrines new life after divorce, after Xander, after she has been in full workforce and going back to school. She has become independent but something in her still clings to a small hope of her love of her life....bumbumbum....Xander of course!!

So she explores dating Ian and he is about as sweet as a man can be and Katrine finds him to be a great replacement for the missing part of her heart....again Xander.

So this book has great banter, great love, great friends just as the first...and who does she end up with?!...its definitely the love of her life. But, I'm not spoiling it and going to say you must read and you will NOT be disappointed and you get closure! And a little something to hang onto also! I love the characters so much that Nikki has created in this series, I hope to see more of all of them!

I think Resilient was AMAZING. I didn't want to write a review on Resilient. I felt that book had me in the edge of my bed. Had my emotions going in different direction. The author was right on point. Her writing Amazing. I have no words to describe this book. I truly loved it. It had me laughing and crying and very satisfy with the whole love story of two individual.

As the saga continues with Katherine and Xander. She learn to move on and follow her goals to get her MBA. Moving forward without Xander. was not the easiest thing she had to do. The badass that she is she moves on with a new man. A man that would do anything for her. But deep inside her true desire was Xander. No matter what, she was aching for his every touch.

Reality was that she had not spoken to him and had too much pride to do so. until something happen and everything takes a turn to the wild side.

Don't want to write more because don't want to give out the story. However it was the best book I read in the pass couple of months. I have recommended these books to all my friends to read and share. Rebound was such a fun and sexy book to read and to follow the next book 'Resilient" was such a breath taking experience. I loved it.... I cant forget the fabulous playlist......

*3.5 star read

So curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to see the outcome of Xander and Katrine after having finished book 1.

This book is well written, has moments of humor, sexiness, appealing characters, etc. But it was overly long - plot dragged on a lot - be forewarned, Xander doesn't make an appearance until after 50% mark which was disappointing. And as for their reunion, given the build up, happened too easily. I think it could have been condensed more, too much time highlighting girls nights, and more suspense could have been thrown in to keep readers engaged. I also was dissatisfied with the ending, would have liked to have had some additional loose ends tied up and more of an epilogue given. I think author lost sight of what readers would have liked more time to be spent on and got overly absorbed in trying to inject humor into the scenes.

But all in all, decent read, borrowed via lending library on Amazon.

A funny & enjoyable read.

I would have wanted Xander to do more pleading, go to hell & back first, but things fell nicely into place towards the end. I just didn't like the fact that Ian had to go through what he did though. He, totally, didn't deserve it. But this story is as real as it gets!

The 'group' saved this for me. Loved loved loved them. Laughed so hard reading their conversations, so funny! I shouldn't have been reading this on the train. I got a lot of funny stares!

I wonder if there will be a third book? This didn't end in a cliffy but I want more.

What I wouldn't give to live in the bubble that is Katrine and Xander for a bit longer. The ending was "imperfectly perfect" and just as should be. Thank you so much for writing this story and sharing it with all of us. But I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of a 3rd book... no pressure. LOVE the Rebound Series!!! I'll be pimping it out for quite awhile!
