The time has come: Dean Curse and his two best friends will soon meet the other members of the society who share his gift of premonition. They’re so excited to finally get a formal welcome that they don’t even mind that the timing means they miss the opening day of the city’s premier event: the annual Abbotsford air show.
But what is supposed to be a relaxed meet-and-greet with his new team, quickly becomes a race against the clock. Dean, and every other member of the Abbotsford sector, are hit—at the same moment—by a particularly horrifying vision of death and members of the Congregatio de Sacrifico from divisions all over the country come to help. One thing is clear: they have 24 hours to stop what is sure to be the most catastrophic event the city has ever seen.
But as desperate seconds tick by, Dean, Colin and Lisa become more and more convinced the disaster is going to be caused by someone within their own new-found ranks. It’s going to take every ounce of determination and bravery for Dean and his friends to find the answers before it’s too late – but how do you stop someone who already knows the tricks of the society’s trade?

Oooh, this one was an interesting adventure! It's been absolute years since I've read book 1 or 2. I was a little worried picking this one back up and jumping back in - but the intro was quick to catch you up to speed and there are enough hints through-out the story to suck you right back in.
And I still really liked the dynamic between the mc, Lisa and Colin. They're now being brought into the fold - and told what's going on. But in the midst of all of it, there are more visions. However, this time the fear is huge - with a very high body count. I liked the adventure and the twists and turns. I liked the failures (and the learning) as much as the wins.
Still a really interesting series, I'm glad I finally made it to this one!
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
Picking up a couple of weeks after the last book, Impact starts with Dean finally getting to meet members of the Congregatio de Sacrifico. Unfortunately, what should be a rather positive learning experience is turned into mayhem when most of the members have visions of multiple deaths. It looks like there's going to be a plane crash at the air show, where the pilot and a crowd of 60+ people die with many more injured. But no one can figure out why the plane goes down, and Dean was actually the only one to have a vision of the pilot whom he's never met. Now, all they can do is keep the pilot grounded until the air show is over, but their tricks can't keep working.
Impact is the best of the series thus far and definitely the most exciting! There's a lot on the line if Dean and the other CS members can't figure out what's going to happen at the air show to cause so much death and destruction. It doesn't help that each time they manage to avoid the incident, another wave of visions hit, only postponing it by another 24 hours. Something just wasn't adding up, but Dean eventually figures it out! I was suspicious of one character in particular, but couldn't figure out how they'd have any effect on what was happening. It's certainly a good twist, and have a feeling they'll appear again later.
I really enjoyed Impact, and this series seems to be getting better and better. I'm loving the new little details about this gift/curse that are being revealed and watching Dean grow more comfortable with it, even when it's making him vastly uncomfortable (having to touch a bunch of random old ladies!). This installment was also interesting because it showed the "dark" side of having this gift: someone who wants to use it for personal gain. I hadn't even thought of that, since I would be too freaked out over having to see strangers die! But it's an interesting notion.
Impact is amazing! Dean, Colin and Lisa are finally going to meet the members of the secret society who also have the gift of premonition. However it doesn't happen as a premonition of a large group of people dying at the Abbotsford air show. Sadly, this means that the society has only 24 hours to stop this. Something about the premonition feels off to Dean but he can't figure out why. The air show lasts for a week. Dean, Colin and Lisa are relieved that the first day there is no accident occurring, but when will it? Will they be able to stop it from happening?
The author has done an excellent job with this title. His writing flows smoothly. This title has a mystery inside of the main theme of the plot. I've enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one to come out!

I was excited when this book arrived in my "new books' box at work. I've been waiting for the 3rd book of the Dean Curse Chronicle for what feels like forever. This is another fun and exciting read by Steven Whibley. I'm looking forward to reading more of Dean's adventures.
