When Robert’s illness struck, everything changed. The loss of her high school sweetheart left a hole in Juliana’s heart that transformed the outgoing and compassionate woman into a shell of grief and pain. Their home, once filled with laughter and love from their foster children, became cold and empty.
But after a search through his old belongings unearths Robert’s secret dream, Juliana is infused with a newfound sense of purpose that drags her out of her sorrow. Determined to finish her husband’s work, she and her “perfect” – yet estranged – sister embark on a turbulent and emotional adventure to build his dream house.
Faced with roadblocks, troublesome contractors, and unspoken family drama that threatens life-changing consequences, Juliana pours her soul into realizing Robert’s last wish. With an unlikely new friendship blossoming between her and the architect Ezra, can Juliana embrace her new purpose and find a new direction in life? Or will the pressure cause her to retreat back into her shell?
Grace Meyers is an author of beachy feel-good romances and women's contemporary fiction. She was born in the south, but has traveled a bit since then and now lives in a small coastal town.
Juliana lost her husband Robert and upon going through his belongings with her sister, Hilary, she discovered that Robert had purchased the land surrounding their cottage on the beach. His dream was to build a home big enough to foster children and pets. In honor of her late husband Robert, Juliana and her sister Hilary set out to raise fund to make the dream come true. This led to many obstacles as there were many developers that would do about anything to get a hold of that prime land much to Juliana's dismay. Betrayals and underhanded shenanigans led to some getting hurt, but as with any great read, the final end gave this series a great happily ever after. Juliana was able to forgive Ezra and explore a possible relationship with him in the future. This was a great series, but I do not expect any less from Grace Meyers as all her series and books have a way of capturing the audience attention.
As an ARC, I received this book for free and my review and opinion are my own.
As the story comes to end there is lots of closure. Juliana finds out the truth about Ezra’s deception. Hilary enjoys spending the summer with her daughter Caroline, who is in town for a summer internship. The fundraising has been successful and a new house and barn is built. The sisters are faced with a decision about opening their hearts to being foster parents.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
This was a great series. I really enjoyed how the story developed, and how well we got to know the characters. My only complaint is I don't like short stories, and I feel like I'm reading six short stories. I would have preferred two or three longer novels in a series. However, I ain't the author, so I accept.
Amazing series. In fact, I want more!!!!! I rated the first few lower. I had read the description of book one and expected more. However that was the description for the series.
I loved the series! The characters were well developed. Story line flowed well. Great story line
I’m always sad to get to the last book in the series because I always want more. The author wrapped up the storyline and gave a little glimpse into the characters possible futures.
Love this book series. Characters intertwine well together. Heartwarming read. I was given an advanced reader copy of this well written book by the author and I am freely sharing my review.
Still a 3.5 book but it was a good story. It’s always enjoyable to see a darker/sadder side of someone who eventually ends up being happy and loving life. Worth reading.
