Hazel is an ordinary twelve-year-old girl heading to summer camp for the first time, but she also has food allergies and intense anxiety. Going to camp is supposed to be fun, but leaving her family and everything that feels normal and safe is as terrifying as fighting monsters. The time has come for her to reach inside herself, find the courage to try new things, and face her fears. Lezah is a blacksmith’s daughter who only knows life in her small medieval village, but every night her home is assailed by wyverns- fearsome monsters resembling dragons. She tries to go about her life, until the wyverns attack her family. Now she must embark on a quest that will lead her through nymphs, dragons, and fires, trying to face her fears. Two very different girls with two very different lives, and yet their intertwining journeys demonstrate the universal struggle of fear and courage.
