When independent, tough as nails motivational speaker, Alyssa Edwards, puts aside her pride and hires Sundown Security to protect her from a stalker while she finishes the last few speaking engagements in her hometown, she's shocked to discover that her new bodyguard is a two-hundred-year-old vampire. Christian Galiano devotes his immortal life to defending and protecting the humans he ruthlessly preyed upon during the first fifty years of his vampire existence. That duty is his only reason for walking the night, until he meets Alyssa. They soon discover that Alyssa's life isn't the only one in danger. Christian's creator, Bazhena Galichanin, is back for revenge, and she wants to reclaim her "pet" for all eternity.

An interesting PNR that is reminiscent of Feehan's earlier Carpathian work. Paranormal creature run security company. Extreme alpha heroes and strong independent heroines. I enjoyed the push and pull of the romance though the hero's hot/cold attitude got old quick. Also, his use of his powers on the heroine (mind control) against her will made me cringe. I enjoyed the heroine. She was strong and independent though I was a little shocked at how easily she accepted that vampires, elves, ect...existed. I expected a bit more freak out. The main conflict was action packed but the romance completely overpowered and one particular subplot resolved in an anti climatic fashion.

It does have a few spelling mistakes but other than that it's a beautiful book.

One if I had time I would have read all at once. It's not a big book but neither a pocketbook.
Since it's written in 3rd person, you can get to read the story from both Aly's and Chirs's side which is great too, since you can get to understand why they are acting the way they are to each other, right off and not cause they don't like each other. Or so you'd think.
Also though this book set is a trilogy, none of the books continue from each other. I mean yes the characters are all friends, but in each book, there is a story from start to the end of 2 characters. Next book the same, and so fort...

It's a book I'm sure to read again and already bought another copy cause I destroy my 1st copy.
I'll read book 2 also, just not for now.

Alyssa Edwards wrote a book called “Balance” and is now a publicity tour. She has three more motivational speeches left and her publicist has talked her into getting help because she has a stalker. He has left threatening message and taken personal items from her...

I downloaded this book on my phone. I had a few hours to cover and it was free. These are the only reasons I read most of it. Otherwise I found it really boring and flat. I wasn't in any way engaged in it.

There's nothing I found interesting or worth reading. At the end of my "spare" time, I simply left it hanging. I couldn't care less about what was going to happen. (And we were in the middle of a kidnapping...)

This was an enjoyable and quick read. At times it was over the top, and I thought that Christian rushed it in disclosing that he was a vampire, however, I do like the authors voice, and enjoyed the story enough to read it in one sitting.

I love pretty much most paranormal romance books. But this one is one of my favorites.

She is being stalked and hires a bodyguard. Little does she know that he is a creature of night. When an old enemy returns to his town, he has to save her or die trying.

Just as good as Twilight!
