Logan My 18th birthday was supposed to be the happiest day of my life but quickly turned into a day I’ll never forget. I ran away from everything I knew and never looked back. I never let anyone close enough in case my demons hiding in the shadows decided to make a move… Until I met him. He came into my life as if he were a shining light in my world full of darkness. I knew the moment I looked into his midnight blue eyes that he was the one I had been looking for to help me out of the shadows. I tried to push him away, but we were inevitable. I just had to accept that fate would allow me to feel his love forever. But unfortunately for me fate isn’t always on my side. Eight years after that tragic day, everything I had been running from finally caught up to me.
Grayson When I met her, I saw something familiar. We both harbored secrets that turned into demons. She feared what lurked in the shadows and I harbored the loss of the ones I pushed into them. Without realizing it, she helped me out of a place that was so dark I never thought I’d see the light again. I never thought I would find someone that would accept me and the weight of the ones I’ve lost. Until one day the demons surfaced and threatened to take it all away. I made a promise to her that I would keep her safe, and I will stop at nothing to keep that promise.

I cannot believe that this is the authors debut novel. It was so well written and the characters were developed really well. Logan and Gray are an adorable couple and I really love the respect and patience they showed each other with opening up about their pasts. Despite some of the difficult content, it was written beautifully and added to the story in a truly meaningful way.
Also can I get more of the brothers? I 100% ship Harper and Wes. I love Noah's golden retriever energy and NEED to know who he ends up with. I'm so so excited to find out more about Allie and see how she navigates everything. I cannot wait for the authors next novels. 😍
First and foremost, I had the privilege of reading this debut novel as an ARC reader!
With that said, I absolutely adored this book! I couldn’t put it down! It was incredible, i felt all the feels, seemed so realistic! Like having a conversation with your best friend about her love life, past trauma, and healing and becoming a better person! I will recommend this book to everyone I know! The author stated “she will break your heart, but heals it in the best way” and she’s not lying!
Accepting Fate takes us on a young woman’s journey from darkness to light.
The details in this book sent shivers down my spine, the details in which the author uses to write had me sucked into this book from the first few pages.
Please check trigger warnings as this book does involve talk of suicide, physical abuse and mental health.
I couldn’t stop reading this book, yet didn’t want it to end. I cried, I laughed, I got butterflies in my stomach.
I cannot wait to read more books by this Author!
I received this as an ARC and all thoughts/opinions are my own.
I had the pleasure of getting to read an advanced copy of Accepting Fate and am blown away that this is the author’s debut novel.
It was so well done on all the levels: plot development, character arcs, romance arcs, dialogue, spice 🔥🔥, side characters that are to die for (I will certainly be watching closely to see when the next books are coming out).
Check the triggers if you need because there are some heavy topics included, but they are handled perfectly. Awesome interiority, I really enjoyed seeing the growth in both main characters inner monologues. It’s definitely an emotional ride, but one that I adored.
Since it’s not yet released I’ll leave my review spoiler free but will definitely be recommending this to all my bookish friends.
“Strength is what we gain from the madness we survive”
I was given the opportunity to ARC read this book and I loved it. The banter between the main characters was perfect. I may have shed a few tears. I’m always a sucker for a morally grey MMC add he’s a tattoo artist and they live in a small town it was everything I love in a book. Make sure to check trigger warnings.
Such a great wholesome book! The characters are relatable and the communication between them was *chefs kiss* Was a great read and would’ve finished sooner if I didn’t have to work. Definitely recommend! Very nicely written! Definitely read trigger warnings however when those topics were mentioned, it was still tasteful and not graphic.
If you want to read about characters with real, wholesome, relatable and just so dynamic and well written characters.. this book is for you. I wasn’t a fan of the dramatic build up but WORTH IT. Definitely worth 5 stars because I did shed some tears!
I received this ARC for an honest review, all opinions/thoughts above are completely my own!
i absolutely loved this. it made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me feel a mountain of emotions (haha iykyk)! i loved the found family aspect between logan and grayson’s family. i have a favorite brother and it MIGHT be bias because i’m also an *NYSNC babe, so i love noah a lot!
but the patience that grayson had with logan made me so unbelievably happy because it reminded me so much of my boyfriend. grayson is absolutely amazing & i will forever be in love with him.
the little twists at the end had me shook. i’m so so excited for book 2!!
i definitely recommend checking it out! it’s on kindle unlimited. please check trigger warnings because it can get heavy!
This book gave me alllll the feels! It was a great book on mental health and I encourage you to check the trigger warnings before reading. But overall I loved the vibes of this book! Small town, hot tattoo artist, beautiful nurse, found family. So many tropes! I felt as if I could feel all of Logan’s emotions she was going though and loved Grayson’s big teddy bear/caveman attitude! The storyline was so good and left you wanting so much more at the end especially ending on that cliffhanger!
I finished this book in two sittings, because it just kept me captivated the entire time. I also loved the mental health awareness in this when it came down to Logan’s anxiety, as it felt very realistic and relatable.
Also, who doesn’t loved a tatted up motorcycle man?
Now I’m usually not an “insta-love” trope kinda gal, but I loved how it was done in this story, and how he never stopped showing his feeling for Logan the entire book, even when she pushed him away.
Obviously sometimes Logan kinda made me mad, in the sense that it seemed like she couldn’t make up her mind, and had very rash reactions to things, but I believe that was the authors intent to show more of Logan’s personality as well as how her anxiety affected her in her relationships.
I wished there was a bit more when it came down to the spicy scenes, as they felt kind of rushed and fade to black while also being too detailed to be fade to black, if that makes sense. I wished it’d been a bit more slow in these scenes, as well as more intimate, since there seemed to be so much passion when it came to Grays feelings for Logan!
Overall, an amazing debut! I can’t wait to read the rest!
Get ready for an emotional, thrilling, and sweet story! Accepting fate was a great read, it had all the stops. I really love me some MMC falls first and this was exactly that. The side characters and family members were all bad ass, and very well written. This book is probably a 2/5 on the spice scale, which worked well for it. And then that ending… what a fun cliffhanger! My only complaint was there were a couple of corny scenes. That’s not a bad thing just not my thing. ☺️
An easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read! There were so many twists and turns that I stayed enthralled, from start to finish. At times I did find it to be *slightly* repetitive, but nothing that prevented me from enjoying the books as a whole. Angel and Bear (Oliver and Willow too) now live in my mind, rent free. I can’t wait for Allie and Landon’s story next!
You’ll love this book, if you like…

————-ARC REVIEW————- Rating: 5++++⭐️ Spice: 2.5 🌶️ - BEYOND SPEECHLESS. Hands down one of my favorite books this year. I still can’t believe Accepting Fate is J.Laine’s debut book. I will forever be grateful to the author for this ARC!!! - Synopsis: Set in the beautiful landscape of the PNW mountains (Seattle), Logan our FMC, is working her dream job as a nurse. Ever since Logan packed up and fled town on her 18th birthday she has never looked back. One unsuspecting night a tattooed, motorcycle riding and rough around the edges Grayson (MMC)literally barrels into her life via the hospital she works at. Through a series of events these two find themselves drawn together in the most heartbreakingly beautiful way. Logan’s past traumas have left her guarded in a way that only Gray can break through. With his own family secrets and need to protect Logan above all else ,will these two be able to weather the storm of their pasts? - Thoughts: J.Laine you beautiful genius you. This story was captivating from the very first chapter. I found myself emotionally connected to Logan in a way I didn’t think possible, it actually brought tears to my eyes. The way J. writes about Logan’s trauma is done with so much care and compassion you can’t help to feel as if you are walking in Logan’s shoes. *Some elements of this story were based off the authors past experiences. (as stated in the opening of the book)
The incredible bond between Logan and Greyson basically ripped my heart to shreds in the best possible way. Grey is a tattooed bad ass with a heart of absolute gold and his genuine love for Logan leaps off the page! The amount of care and patience he shows towards Logan as well as everyone in his life will forever place him as one of my top book boyfriends!!!
The overall plot line is incredibly captivating with an element of suspense I didn’t see coming, it will leave you with you jaw on the floor( it did for me). The pace was absolutely perfect and I loved the way the main characters relationship evolved from start to finish with just enough spicy elements sprinkled in. Every character in Accepting Fate has a purpose and a story. I found myself wanting 1000+ more pages so I could learn everything there is to know about every side character’s backstory. Lucky for us Landon and Allies story will be next and I literally CANT WAIT!!! I know it’s going to be one hell of a rollercoaster. I HIGHLY recommend this for any lovers of contemporary dark romance.*PLESE CHECK YOUR TW* - Thank you for pouring every ounce of your heart and soul into this one. I honestly can’t believe this is your debut book! (I know I keep saying that, but seriously it’s just that good!) - P.s. I was gifted the opportunity to help with the playlist for this one so take a minute to check out some amazing songs to set the mood for this incredible story!
Themes: -Suspense -Tattooed MMC -Nurse FMC -Found Family -Small Town Romance -Heartbreakingly Beautiful Love Story
*Once again, a huge thank you to the incredibly talented J.Laine for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. *
This book wasn’t for me, my dude! I liked parts of it, but if I had a choice to read it again for the first time I would have skipped it and spent my time on something else. Anytime it takes me longer than 2/3 days to finish a book (this took 6) you know that I wasn’t that into it.
. .
About the story: Logan’s Mom married abuser, Mike. He beats Logan’s mom until she loses herself in a bottle of liquor, then he moves on to Logan. On her 18th birthday she finds her mother dead from an apparent suicide, with a note saying Mike will take care of Logan. Logan runs. She eventually ends up in Cliff Haven, a small mountain town outside of Seattle, Washington.
Grayson is a tattoo artist who has lived in Cliff Haven his whole life. He and his 3 brothers rescue kidnapped victims, and serve justice to their attackers. Grayson claims to be in a dark space and when he meets Logan he feels like she’s his much needed light.
But the threat of Mike hangs over Logan’s head.
. .
What I liked about the story: Grayson is so sure in his love for Logan. He realizes quickly that there’s something there and once he gets with Logan he’s pretty quick to realize that she’s his forever. Logan is quick to walk away from any situation that may cause her hurt, and she is slow to fully commit. Logan told her she’s his forever, reminds her all the time, and he doesn’t let up. Graysons concrete foundation for their love was the bees knees!
Noah. Noah, in my opinion, was the best character in the book. He’s ridiculous and I wanted more of him.
. .
What I did not like about the story: -Grayson likes Logan because she’s not afraid to tell him when he’s being an ass, or when he’s full of shit. Personally, especially with his loving parents and family, I wasn’t too stoked about a grown man needed his woman to tell him when he was out of line. Even though Grayson never did anything bad, it was a huge turnoff to me reading that that is what he wanted in a relationship. -Everything is a secret. For the first little bit you don’t know a lot. Grayson goes on “missions” that you don’t understand. Logan’s nightmare of a life is kept secret too. I hate being confused, or not having all the information when reading a book. -I felt this was too long. I finished it, so it held my attention, but it’s 400+ pages and a lot of it was just day to day stuff. If you like a slow moving romance, this would be for you. But for me, it wasn’t satisfying like a Marianna Zappata. -There were moments where I felt it was unbelievable. Example: The brothers were basically kidnapping vigilantes- finding & rescuing victims, and torturing and killing their abusers. The police, conveniently, knew about it and turned a blind eye. Their parents knew, and were ok with it. Moments like these took me out of the story. Example 2: Logan took self defense, but she was defenseless when facing Mike? I’ve never had self defense, and I might be easy for a man to take down, but I know with everything in me that I will at least have bitten his ass. He’d walk away with bruises too. -I couldn’t understand why Mike would chase Logan all the way across the United States. The story starts in New York, and ends in Washington. Mike wasn’t obsessed with Logan. Logan didn’t steal anything from Mike. Am I to believe that he would chase her for 8 looooong years and so many states because he wanted to rape her, and kill her on her 18th birthday? Mike needed more of a motive, in my opinion. -The ending was bittersweet. I read romances to walk away with a happy, giddy feeling. This one ended with Mike being the real reason her mom died, and the death of her best friend’s (in Alabama) parent’s, and Logan’s real father dying in a car accident. Logan can’t let go of the hurt from her best friend’s parents being murdered, which is totally understandable, but not at the end of a book! Even though Logan and Grayson found their HEA, Logan was depressed and couldn’t stop thinking about Allie and her parents, which resulted in Logan not wanting to plan her wedding yet. . . I probably wont be reading book 2, as it’s about Landon and I found him boring. Maaaaybe I’ll return for Noah and Wesley’s stories.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
From the first pages her book sucked you right in! I couldn’t put this book down! The way she told this story so well, I just couldn’t get enough!
The connection between Logan and Grayson throughout this book was so beautifully put together, the darkness the Logan and Grayson had gone through was so awful but I’m so glad that they had each other to get through it together!
I received this book as an ARC and can’t wait for this authors next book, this was so well written and I can only expect the same from the next book!
Also a heads up there are a lot of triggers in this book so be sure to check that out before reading! There are talks of suicide/self harm and others as well!
First things first Thank you to the author and her team for sending me an ARC to this book. I must say I was really excited for this book and guess what all this excitement was for a very good reason🤭 There are these two very lovely characters who have an amazing love story. And you’ll love this story 😩 Mr. Caveman, Grayson is a walking green flag.!!
Logan and Grayson met under not as beautiful circumstances but they immediately fell in love with each others. But none of them made their “first steps”. Funny enough that fate had other plans for them and brought them back together by coincidence.
Logan is a 26 year old woman who is hiding a dark and devastating past. Someone who fled from her past but is living in fear of her past catching up on her. She is a nurse in the hospital of Seattle and that’s how she met Grayson. On one of her shifts or even better said on one of her days where she was overtime working. I guess fate brought them to meet each other. Logan has a hard time trusting Grayson and opening herself up to him but he shows and proofs her that she can trust him and that a sometimes when you’re stepping out of your comfort zone is actually a really good thing. And also that she can have good things in her life and that she doesn’t have to be afraid. But will her past catch her? and will Grayson ever find out about her past, about her darkest moments ? Or will she back up …?
Grayson a 28 year old “mountain man ” or the “caveman” or even “bear” as Logan calls him. He is a very handsome guy, not only is he physically very fit and handsome but so is his personality, charming and kind. He’s working as a tattooist but he also has a second job which is a not such an “easy” and “artistic” job. A job which is not as pleasing to do. He and his other three brothers are looking for people who traffic/kidnapp/abuse others. They search and catch them. They call it their “missions”. On the day he entered the door of the hospital where Logan is working, was actually right after a very long mission which they succeeded. They managed to rescue the abducted. will Logan ever find out about his second job? Will she learn to accept his “mission” …?
As I mention they fell in love with each others and fate brought them back together . After they met again Grayson asked Logan out and they started to go out together.
I really loved how they started from strangers to slowly getting friends but with more intentions and then to lovers. I love their relationship, it’s very pure and innocent and so passionate. It’s like having your best friend as a lover.
Also I really love Logan because she kind of reminds me of myself.
Tropes: 🏔️second chance at life 🏔️slow burn 🏔️strangers to friends to lovers 🏔️”I’ll protect you no matter what” type of guy 🏔️nurse x tattooist/hit man 🏔️dark past 🏔️”you’re mine and I’m yours”
Quotes : 🏔️ I knew I’d never be totally happy until my demons disappeared for good. 🏔️ “Son. Time is a concept that measures the hours in a day. Not how long it takes to know you have found your person. 🏔️ Angel you’re the only one I want to impress. Good night beautiful. 🏔️ Don’t worry, Angel. When I find out who did this to you, these scars will be your tattoos of revenge.
The Chokehold this book has me in 🤤. Ok this book had it all. Suspense, action, thrill, dark secrets, some spice and lots of banter. Let me tell you what sold me on this book…the fact that the MMC is a tattoo artist lol 😂. Most of you know my husband is a tattoo artist sooo 👏🏽 you know i was all about this. I loved eveything about this book. Logan is an ER nurse with a heart to help people but has a dark past she’s hiding from everyone. Grayson a caveman tattoo artist that’s overprotective with a CRAZY side job. Their paths cross on one of his “missions” and ends up in her ER with a victim needing help. He pretty much falls instantly for her. He definitely first and i was here for it! I don’t read many books where the MMC falls first but i love that trope a lot! Logan is feisty and spicy and not taking anyone’s crap. As they get closer both of them are nervous about telling the other about their hidden secrets while falling for each other. I loved the mental health rep in this book. The FMC has bad panic attacks due to past trauma and i feel like that is one of the things that gets dismissed often as “not serious” and i myself suffer from these so i loved that it was part of her story. I loved a lot of the friends and side characters as well. They added the family element to the story. Grayson does his “missions with his hot and feisty 3 brothers so I’m hoping to see a story with one of them soon 🤞🏽. Lastly this book did have some spice but I’ll admit i do wish there had been a bit more. (I’m clearly reading too much dark romance 😂) Spice was about 🌶️ 🌶️.5. Honestly though this book had SOOO MUCH going on you don’t even miss it.
This book does has some triggers such as mentions of Sexual abuse and domestic violence. If you’re someone who NEEDS trigger warnings i believe you can go to the authors IG and there’s a link in her bio for fill set of triggers
Thank you @authorjlaine for letting me read an ARC copy of your book! Can’t wait to read more!
Also thanks to my husband @coolhanddantattoos for letting me borrow his tattoo equipment for my picture 😂
I first want to thank @authorjlaine for trusting me with her first book! This was my first time being an ARC reader and I couldn’t have started that journey with a better book 💚
Accepting Fate is a beautifully written story about Grayson (her Bear) and Logan (his Angel), who connect on more than just a physical level. In fact, they have more in common than they thought, including their dark histories. From the beginning, it’s hard to not have your heart break for Logan and swoon over Grayson.
J. Laine does an incredible job at breaking up some very dark scenes and topics with little pieces of light. She pulls you in from the very beginning and keeps you hooked through the very end.
This is a dark story that may not be for some people. I personally enjoy dark and angsty stories, but some topics my be triggering for other. Please read all trigger warnings before starting the book.
I cannot wait for the next installment in this series, and I’m excited for this wonderful story to become available for you all TOMORROW! You can now pre-order Accepting Fate on Amazon, and it will also be available on Kindle Unlimited!
Please check your Trigger Warnings going into this as it deals with some heavy topics.
I cannot believe this is J. Laine's debut novel. It was totally flawless in my opinion. And I fell hard for Logan and Grayson.
I'm not going to spoil anything because I believe everyone needs to go in blind with this book, but just know, the way Grayson acts to build up trust with people (you'll understand once you've read this) was just beautiful. And the way Logan starts to open up and accept people in her life was so well done. This book had everything I needed in it for me and more and will stay so close to my heart.
I adored the brothers Wes, Landon and Noah too and I cannot wait to read their books. Wes is mine forever, and this is me claiming him.
The plot twist was incredible and truly something I did not see coming.
Wow. I have had this one on my TBR list since the end of last year and have kept putting it off because I had a feeling it would be sad.
It was. Incredibly moving and although it may be strange as this isn't an easy story to read and i can not imagine it being easy for the Author to write, it was beautifully written. I felt the pure emotions every character felt through every page turn of this book. Not a dry eye in sight.
Logan's story and the other strong charcters in it, is one many have experienced in this life. So check triggers, please.
* To all of the survivors in this world, I hope you find peace. Peace in a world that has so badly wronged you. You are deserving, you are strong and so so loved. Although I am sure it is beyond hard, find it in your own time, whenever or however that may be. We'll be standing beside you. Leah <3
✨My Thoughts ✨ I enjoyed this so so much. I don't read a ton of darker romances but I really liked this one. I loved Logan so much. Her story and her journey was absolutely beautiful to read. Grayson was a 10/10. Their kindness and patience they had with each other was so great to read. I also loved the found family in the book too. The ending plot twist was crazy. This book also had a lot of emotional healing. I really felt it was beautifully done. I recommend this to anyone who loves dark romance. Definitely a must read.
Accepting Fate is book one in the Fated to You series by J. Laine. This is her debut novel. It is recommended for 18+. This book has some heavier Trigger warnings so please read before starting. I can't wait to see what happens next in the series.
✨ I want to say a huge thank you to J for giving me an ARC of this book. These are my own true thoughts ✨
“Strength is what we gain from the madness we survive”
I didn’t know a thing about this book going into it but I saw the author had sent it to ‘Larryreads’ and I was intrigued and it was on kindle unlimited so I thought why not and started reading it straight away. Little did I know how attached I would get to all of these characters. I need the next book right now, I can’t wait. I love all the side characters as well as the main characters. This is so much more than a romance, it’s heartbreaking, funny (Noah) and then even more heartbreaking.
I found the writing so good, I could hardly put it down.
The only reason it’s not 5stars is because I feel like the nicknames were a bit overused and kind of cringy but after a while I got used to it and it didn’t bother me that much and it also didn’t end up bothering me that much because I loved the characters.
I loved this debut novel by J. Laine. She did a wonderful job building the world that Grayson and Logan are from.
Their chemistry is wonderful and the open communication is beautiful and essential for their growth as individuals, but even more so for them as a couple.
The two come together and are the light for each other's darkness.
Check the trigger warnings because it does discuss some heavy topics, but the mental health issues were represented very well.
Can't believe this is a debut book. It had me hooked from the first chapter and the topics are so well represented throughout. One of the best books I've read that shows recovery from trauma in such a realistic way. Really well written and I loved the dual POV. Definitely check the trigger warnings before reading and be prepared for a cliffhanger. Can't wait for the next book, I loved all the characters so much
I am really surprised to see this is a debut novel. Usually I expect those to be pretty rough. But this was beautiful. The characters were complex and well developed. The story was amazing. The representation of panic disorder/anxiety/PTSD felt authentic and appropriate considering what the characters suffered. Logan and Grayson’s story kept me reading and I finished the book in less than a day. I am a bit upset I found it so early because I am dying to read the stories of the other Hayes brothers finding their lights.
A book I couldn’t put down. I had the privilege of reading this ARC. I couldn’t believe having a book that hit home in more ways than one. Everything about this book way amazing. Falling in love with the FMC&MMC story, wanting to know more, the cliffhanger at the end. All of this was amazing. Definitely will be on my recommends list!
Please check trigger warnings. Mental health matters.
Omg! J. Laine please continue to write books ❤️ The way Grayson is to Logan is how so many people with anxiety want to be treated- we just need someone to actually care and want to try to help. We all have demons- we just need a person that can help us find our light
Loved this book will be one of my favorites I laughed and cried it was an amazing read , there are some triggers but I can’t say enough about this book I would recommend 100 time over
“So, don’t live in fear, Angel. Live in this life and moment with me.”
“I’m terrified to let myself fall for you more than I already am because the minute I do, I risk losing you at the same time.”
Wow just wow! This is J. Laine’s debut book and it was amazing. First and foremost there are some triggers in this story and it hits a lot of sensitive topics (please read the note to reader in the beginning). Honestly I was not expecting any of it but it blew me away! One thing that I truly love is the mental health representation in Accepting Fate! It was completely eye opening. There is so much strength in all of her characters! They literally go through hell and they come out even stronger.
Accepting Fate is the story of Logan and Grayson and how fate brings them together. They both go through many trials and have many skeletons in their closet but they are the definition of stronger together.
