Great Series

These books are the best pirate novels I have ever read. The plot and characters, locations and detail are palpable.
I highly recommend this series and the world of Late Lindsey.

Master storyteller !

I often have trouble with giving more than one review for a book series, however in the case of Matt Tomerlin i felt the need to make an exception. This author paints such vivid scenes with his words that it is impossible not to feel that you are there experiencing every minute of this rousing adventure. This book seemed a little longer than the previous two,but so much the better say I because the story is so captivating you cannot help to wish that it never ends. I actually had a feeling Blackbeard had survived the fire aboard Queen Anne's Revenge, and was pleased to see he had only to see him done in by his own daughter with the assistance of Gabe Jenkins, but what else could possibly be expected after his having the girls mother killed. Matt must have done a tremendous amount of research in writing this series,or else he's the reincarnation of some notable pirate. I cannot say enough good things about this author, but one other thing I will say is no one could ever possibly go wrong by choosing to read one of his books.

Nothing short of a "no waaay?! 😂😂" plot-twist ending to the trilogy.
Kate has truly been revealed as the unkillable favourite of the author. What I really appreciate about this is that, despite her coming away almost unscathed almost always, we don't stop rooting for her because she's just such an awe inspiring force to be reckoned with. Her security stemming from her author's love for her grants her a nonchalance and devil may care attitude resulting in a character with such power that truly makes us agree, "What girl doesn’t want to be Kate Lindsay for a little while -"!

ARRRRRGGGGG III

ARRRRRGGGGG III

Blood and guts, then sex, more blood and guts. Not for the squeamish but a very fun read. The three books are one continuous story. So you need to start with the first book. If you get offended that historical facts and time lines are not adhered too, this is not for you. If you just want a fun exciting fantasy, read all three. You will not be disappointed.

Terrific

The trilogy has something for everyone. I especially was interested in the deromantism of pirates.
Timeline is excellent at painting a picture...I felt like I was there

Struggled to finish this one. The book started well, but the second half REALLY dragged on. Dull characters, back and forth revenge plots, the same trope used three times in last few chapters. The epilogue was a pretty good way to wrap up the trilogy, but I don't think I'll read any of the other books released after this one

Minor spoilers ahead:

The final book of the series even though not as good as the other two still delivered the goods.
Originaly, i was going to give this one a three but i guess the good ending kicked my score up to four. All in all it was a satisfying conclusion to Kate's journey. I just felt that this one took a while to really hook me in. Of course, since i had read the previous two there was no way that i would stop reading now. Still, i felt that this time around the main antagonist -which for the most part was Charles Vane- was not as hateful as the ones of the other books (e.g Anabelle , Black Beard).
Actually i had a hard time not liking this guy. He is probably the funiest pirate of the Caribean for christ's sake. I wonder if his historical counter part was this way too. Well, probably not (..man i hate real life :p).
Anyway, maybe the fact that this vilain was more likable than the others made me feel that the stakes were not as high than in the other two books. I remember that i almost jumped of from my chair when Anabele finally died in the second one. The only time i reacted like that before was when Nina Meyers died in the 24 series. I was like: yeah bitch f*cking diiiiiiieee!!. So maybe i was looking to get a similar reaction this time around.
But, like i said, the ending was pretty solid. At one point i felt like i was reading a horror story which was was pretty bad ass (the whole canibalism stuff was a cool idea).

I'm very glad i read this series. It definitelly earned its place among the most fun historical fiction i ever read (which turned me instantly into a fan). I will definitely be following the authors literary
journey from now on and will be anxiously awaiting each new release.

Cheers,

The Devil’s Horizon (Devil’s Fire Book 3)
Matt Tomerlin

Do you like authentic pirate stories? Do you like true gritty story lines? Well, then this is the book for you. I strongly suggest you read books one and two before this book three so the story makes sense. The book contains just enough violence to be believable to me. If you are queasy about blood, guts, and death then this might not be the book for you. Mr. Tomerlin adds sex, violence, adventure, and thrill to this book to equal a great read!

Kate is up to her old tricks again in book 3 of the Devil’s Fire series. She continually surprises me with how smart and cunning she is. There are so many surprises, twist, and turns in this book…I love it! Just when you think you have a story line figured out…it changes! I thought I had the book figured out right up to the end but I was fooled.

Kate meets up with some old “friends” and foes in this book. She still has the pirates scared of her. It is amazing to see her transform from a London housewife to a pirate and Mr. Tomerlin makes you believe the story.

I was pretty grossed out by one of the scenes in the book but I think to make the story believable it was necessary. One of the pirates suffers a terrible death and it is played out in every horrible detail. When I think of pirates, I think of smelly, dirty, nasty, and law-breaking men. Mr. Tomerlin portrays them in just the way I imagined them to be. I like the Disney movies Pirates of the Caribbean but Mr. Tomerlin give us the real deal not the Disney version of pirates.

I highly recommend this book!

Love it, love it, love it!

This is such an amazing series, and this Book 3 didn't disappoint! The plot is wonderful and the characters are unforgettable!
The creation of this series is brilliant. The dialogue is fresh and hysterically funny at times. I'm uncertain whether I like Kate or not, but she is certainly making her mark in history as she crosses paths with the most feared pirate captains and pirate chasers of the times, clashing with Bluebeard, Calico Jack and Charles Vane and Woodes Rogers. Life is cheap, except for Kate's.
Excellent book that kept held my attention from start to finish, and hopefully there'll be a Book 4! A bit more romance in Book 3 here, but wouldn't actually call this a romance novel. Action and adventure, yes!
I love pirate books and highly recommend to anyone of like mind.

Five stars! TEN stars! This book is the thrilling third in the Devil's Fire trilogy, and it does not disappoint. I can't praise it enough. It was everything I hoped for in an epic pirate fiction. Violent. Sexy. Clever. Gritty. Unique. And through it all, even historically accurate. I couldn't put it down.

Katherine Lindsay is a red-headed force to be reckoned with. The pirates who seek to use her for their own ends each learn this the hard way, one by one.

The ending is *perfect*. Everything comes full circle in the most satisfying way. I couldn't have hoped for better. Did I mention this series should get ten stars!?!

Fans of the show Black Sails would surely devour this series with glee!

Sad to say, I felt this book was a bit of a let-down after the first two of the series. There seemed to be far too much time spent with various pirates crossing and double-crossing each other and not enough with Kate Lindsey, the focal point of the trilogy.

That said, there were still exciting times to be had, several surprises -- some gruesome, some pleasant -- and a very satisfying ending.

In fact, I give the ending 5 stars. Tomerlin found the perfect way to resolve Kate's tale.

I recommend the entire trilogy to anyone who enjoys a hard edge to their pirate stories.

Good luck trying to figure out where this is going. Once again, Tomerlin begins with the standard cliches and systematically knocks them down. The ending threw me for a loop. I did not see that coming. There is plenty of action, humor, pain, and death. The conclusion leaves a couple of loose ends for another book, but it's totally satisfying and I feel the series could stop right here if Tomerlin wanted to. But I hope he doesn't!

Great pirate trilogy. Really enjoyed following Kate Lindsay's story to the end and wasn't disappointed. Highly recommend reading the series in order to really understand the story. This has appeal to both men and women who enjoy the genre. Matt captures the pirate life in vivid detail for sure! Looking forward to future reads from Tomerlin.

What a great book series! It was a little rough to read at times, due to some somewhat graphic content, but what else should you expect when reliving a pirate tale? I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and am saddened for it to end!

Matt Tomerlin's Devil's Fire series is the book equivilent of a Robert Rodriguez film. Over-the-top violence and sex, dark tongue-in-cheek humor, and cheesy theatrics. But always 100% entertaining! I really loved it.

I loved this book just as much as the other two. I especially loved the ending. If there is anything I could have wanted more of, it would have been more love story line.

Captivating and full of surprises. You never know who is going to die next. :)

More blood and gore, and it was fantastic. I'm glad Kate out smarted her enemies and got the ending she wanted.

Not as vulgar as the first 2 books.... still has a lot of language and gory details of deaths... this book tied up the loose ends from the first 2 books...
