I shouldn’t be driving in a blizzard. I definitely shouldn’t be driving up Snow Mountain. Now my car’s stuck in a ditch, and the only one who can help me is Joel Alder, the reclusive lumberjack who lives in an old hunting cabin deep in the woods. Joel is three years older than me, and an ex-con. Folk around these parts avoid him, but he’s always been kind to me. His strong hands, wild beard, and sun-streaked hair inspire all my dirty fantasies. Now we’re snowed in together. On Christmas Eve. And if I’m a good girl, Joel might make all my dreams come true…
Snowed in with the Lumberjack is a short holiday romance previously published in the Backed by Love anthology.
I liked this a lot but why is it so short ugh they deserved a full novel 🥹💓!!!
Lainey has had a thing for Joel since they were in school , the quiet, broody boy who kept to himself but somehow caught her heart completely. Back then, she was too shy to tell him. And Joel never thought a girl like her: soft, precious, good , could ever want someone like him. Years later, Joel lives alone up on the mountain, a recluse after some bad decisions and time spent in prison. The town still looks at him with suspicion, and he’s convinced it’s better to keep his distance from everyone… especially Lainey. But she’s never stopped thinking about him. She’s tried before, even attempted to seduce him once (and okay, maybe her skills weren’t quite refined back then), but he shut her down, believing she deserved better.
But Lainey isn’t the type to give up on something or someone , she truly wants. So, one snowy Christmas, she decides to take the risk and see him again. Except the weather has other plans , her car slides into a snowbank, and she’s forced to walk the rest of the way to his cabin through the storm. Joel can’t believe she braved the blizzard just to see him… and even more, he can’t believe she’s choosing him.
What follows is a mix of tenderness, heat and two people finally lowering their walls. I loved that Lainey might come across quiet and shy, but she’s quietly relentless when it comes to fighting for her/ their dream of being together. And Joel, for all his gruffness, is just as gone for her as she is for him. Their chemistry is undeniable and when they finally come together? Let’s just say Joel makes sure she’s always satisfied first, worshipping her in a way that made me melt.
It’s steamy, heartfelt and the perfect blend of sweet persistence and slow-burn payoff. Watching Lainey prove to Joel that she’s not too good for him, that they’re exactly right for each other, was incredibly satisfying. A cozy, snowed-in, mountain-man romance with just the right amount of heat. Loved it!!

Thanks to Karen Nappa’s Advent Calender i found another quicky i enjoyed. Lee Savino manages to paint a most delicious picture of how Christmas is a perfect time to find love. The story may be short, but it gave me everything i needed. There’s a background on sweet Lainey and reformed bad boy Joel. There’s the town they both grew up in,and still live in. There’s the way people look at both. There’s the way Joel wants Lainey, but doesn’t think he’s good enough for her because he spent time in prison. And most importantly, there’s the way that Lainey loves Joel, and is determined to give him the best Christmas present ever……
1.5 stars, i would give it a one star on here but i don’t negatively rate books with under 300 ratings as i feel too bad about lowering the average rating
— I hate that it's only narrated by one person, and that the guy also does the FMC's voice 😭 (I'm also not a huge fan of the voice he puts on for the MMC..)
— Joel is tatted up and has a beard 🤤
— Lainey is a bit of a bookworm and Joel reads the books she recommends him 🥺
— Joel is an ex-con with a heart of gold <3
— Lainey agrees to whatever Joel tells her to do in a heartbeat. If that doesn't scream subby as hell idk what does 😌
— Lainey visits Joel because she didn't want him to be alone for Christmas (...or so she can lose her v-card to him.)
— “Good girl. Tell me, Lainey. Have you ever been spanked?” 🥴
— 𝘗𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘯.
— ‘365 Days’ has ruined the word “baby girl” for me because I hate it when Joel calls her that.
𝕆𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕒𝕝𝕝: It was a fun read. The FMC was relatable. I'd give this a 3.5/5 ⭐'s. This would be a one time read tbh.

“Snowed in with the Lumberjack” by Lee Savino is a brilliant, beautiful romantic story. Lee is a gifted and talented author. Joel didn’t do well academically, socially he was accepted, he had artistic skills and was very good at refurbishing cars. He made some wrong choices and ended up in jail. When, he returned to his hometown, he became a recluse and people feared him. Lainey was smart but shy, lived in her books and was always attracted to Joel. How would they ever bridge the gap between? Would they ever take that first step? Lee Savino takes a sensitive subject and guides us through a perfect journey. The characters are well written and the story is filled with kindness, understanding and a beautiful romance.
I love Lee Savino's novella, it was originally published in the Snowed in collections. This story pulls you in from the first page. Lainey has had a crush on Joel since they were in school. She was too bashful to tell him, now he lives alone on the mountain and finally she decides to once again, see him at Christmas. Except she loses control and her car slides into a snowbank and she has walk to his cabin. Joel can't believe she's risked everything driving in the snow storm. Joel can't believe she's chosen him but love will find a way in this delightfully steamy story. I highly recommend this book.
"I have enjoyed every piece of writing by Lee Savino that I have read so far, and 'Snowed in With the Lumberjack' is no exception. It's a quick read that tells the story of a shy bookworm named Laney who has been crushing on a bad boy named Joel since high school. Joel had made some poor choices in his early days, which led him to prison. When he returned to his hometown, most people feared him, except Laney and her grandmother. This is a sweet, sexy, and romantic story that left me feeling good and believing in the magic of Christmas. Isn't that what we all want in a romance read?"
I enjoyed reading this sexy short story about Joel and Lainey. My favorite part of the book, though, was the epilogue. I got a little teary-eyed with that epilogue.
Your books I a place of peace and delight and I know that I always will get some beautiful hours reading because I will get swallowed up and be in my reading boble. Thank you for that ❤️
This is a short quick read. All the characters are real and rounded. Joel and Lainey. They have history and this meeting sparks hot chemistry between them. I loved all their interactions. Well worth reading.
Joel and Lainey's Christmas story is both spicy and sweet, portraying the magic of Christmas when an ex-convict receives the most precious gift of his life ... I absolutely love this short story and wish I could read more about these great characters.
This book was so cute and sweet but way too short! I feel like these characters deserved a full book. While the MMC is an ex-con and the FMC is a little bookworm, I feel like we missed out on a lot of their story and their growth.
50 pages of sex. There’s nothing else. He is living alone in the mountains and she is desperate to loose her virginity to him. And they fucked happily ever after, because nothing else connects them. Oh and both male and female chapters were narrated by a man. In a smut only book.
Maybe this was not meant to be a standalone. Straightforward and simple, a romance between a good girl and a bad boy reformed. Very short story and unfortunately a bit forgettable.
