Crystal Bowman is an author, speaker, and former preschool teacher. She graduated from Calvin College with a degree in elementary education and studied early childhood development at the University of Michigan. Her writing career began in 1990 as a lyricist for children's piano music. She began writing children's books in 1993 and has since written more than 100 books for children and 3 for women. She has written books for many popular children's series, such as Little Blessings, BOZ the Bear, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), Berenstain Bears, and I Can Read! She has also written two books of humorous poetry for children, numerous magazine articles, Bible study materials, and educational resource books. As a speaker, Crystal enjoys sharing her stories and poetry with students in the classroom and also with adults at teachers' conventions, writers' conferences, and women's seminars. "Writing and speaking can be intimidating because in order to connect with your audience you need to be personal and transparent, exposing what's in your heart and soul. But when readers or conference attendees respond positively to something I've said or written, it is humbling and rewarding all at the same time!" Crystal and her husband, Bob, have enjoyed 44 years of marriage and are the parents of 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. They spend summers in Michigan and winters in Florida.

My Review: It's interesting what you learn as you get older. I'm not sure I was ever taught where the tradition of hanging stockings came from. But now my children as well as myself will know it came from Saint Nicholas long, long ago. It all began when he wanted to show everyone God's love and to remind them of the gift He sent. So this year when you and your children are hanging the stockings, you can take out this sweet, board book and explain to them how it all began.
Perfect gift idea for ages 4-8.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author.
Each year for the month of December I wrap up twenty-four books. Then each night a different child picks one book to open and we will then read that particular book. This year My Christmas Stocking has made it into the mix.
When choosing books for this endeavor I like to find ones that are not only entertaining but educational as well. My Christmas Stocking tells the history of the hanging and filling of stockings in a charming sing song type of verse.
We have a nine month old that hasn't quite figured out that books are not to be eaten so this particular book was chosen with him in mind. It is a board book and while I don't think it would withstand unlimited amounts of drool it is sturdy enough for me to have time to remove it from his mouth before serious damage can be done.
I really like the wonderful story and verses it contains, but the images by Claudine Gevry shouldn't be overlooked. She did a beautiful job of capturing the wonder and delight of the season.
If you have a little one in your household this would make a great addition to your collection of Christmas stories. They will learn all about the tradition of the Christmas stocking while being entertained with words and illustrations.
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
