This is exactly the type of book you want for something as academic and intense as World War One. Catherwood gives a brilliant survey of all the major battles of the war. This is a very accessible and easy to read book and has left me feeling confident in my knowledge of the causes and battles of World War One.

A book about the battles of WW1 gives you the impression that the book will describe the battles, this does not do that, rather it explains the decisions made, the key figures and the impact. Still an interesting read, just a poorly named book.

The essence of the WW1 comflict

This was an excellent and moving review of the major conflicts of WW1.It is clearly written and logically presented.I especially admire his analysis of the ramifications of this war generating the issues we now have in the Middle East and the rise of the Nazi party.Kudos to the author.
