Eve Sumptor-Riley’s life is perfect. She’s married to the love of her life, has a beautiful daughter and the best friend any woman can have. With her businesses flourishing, and her husband’s professional life expanding, Eve’s life was finally happy. Or so she thought.
Someone does not want Eve to be happy. They are determined to take everything away from her. Once again, Eve must battle her past, this time from an unknown foe. Will she be able to triumph again? Or will she lose everything she worked so hard to achieve?
I’ve been in Houston, Texas, writing novels and designing websites since 2009. Moving here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, because I’ve been able to live wonderfully, and write my heart out. I’ve always enjoyed the arts in one form or another. Music sets the mood, reading stimulates my brain, and writing allows me to utilize my imagination in any way I want. I’ve been writing stories since I was a teen, and figured out it was my passion when I finished my first novel, Something About Eve.
I love being captivated by books that lead me into different, exotic places, and through impossible scenarios. I love being able to become someone else for a time. Reading has always inspired me to bring my own characters out to play. My hope is that my writing will inspire others, or at the least, give them a way to escape from everyday life for a little while.
If I'm not writing or reading, I'm training for triathlons. It's a good way to challenge my body the way I challenge my brain when writing. I'm not the greatest at it, but not only do I do it for the challenge, I do it for charity. It's a good motivation. :)
The plot. This picks up a few months after book one and once again Eve Sumptor's life is about to be turned upside down when a new threat appears on the horizon.
The characters. There are only a few minor new characters introduced in this sequel. Lainey's husband and kids are almost non existent and make very brief appearances since the story is all about Eve and this new discount Bond villain.
The writing. Nothing has really changed since the end of book 1. Both Eve and Lainey are with their respective husband while still lusting after each other. This book should have a subtitle called "how to queerbait".
The special. This series is a bit of an odd duck since it can be split into two groups. Books 1 & 2 for hetero's and books 1 & 3 for wlw. I've certainly never read any series quite like this before!
The negative. The action and drama was once again over the top and it felt like any man who ever laid eyes on Eve immediately fell for her. It became tedious and repetitive because whenever the POV would switch to them, all the reader would hear is how beautiful Eve was and how they fantasized about getting her naked. After +/- 600 pages spanning books 1 & 2 we get it, she's hot.
The verdict. I hate the part of me that doesn't really like this series and even though I already know what will happen in book 3, I still plan on reading it. What is it about this series that turns me into a masochist?! Overall rating is a 2* since the entire book can be considered filler. Next!
I absolutely devoured the first book in this series. This book falls flat in comparison to the initial book. The main characters Eve and Lainey. They still have a dynamic enchantment with each other but they both have gone back to their respective husbands. They have a hard time dealing with their feelings, this book leaves it open ended. So off to read book 3,I go.

I had a really hard time trying to follow this story. The writing style didn't help, I found it 'choppy' for want of a better word. One minute it was spoken in present tense and then in the same paragraph it would change to past. For example 'it is' to 'it was'! Similarly, at times it was like the author was talking for a character and then at other times you were reading the characters thoughts. It's hard to explain.
The relationship dynamics between Eve and Lainey didn't make sense either, but I now see there was a book about them before this one. Had I read it first maybe things would have made more sense, maybe not.
The sex scenes between 'Adam and Eve', yes that's right 'Adam and Eve' were mediocre. There are no FF scenes just a jealous ex female lover, aka best friend. So, Lainey was supposedly her best friend but she went off at Eve when she sensed she had had sex with Adam (her husband no less) before going to Lainey and her husband's place for dinner (yep Lainey was married as well)!!
To quote Lainey I feel so bi-polar sometimes. One minute, I'm wanting nothing but happiness for you and Adam. The next, I'm wishing it was back to the way it was when we were together.
I did enjoy the crime element of the story, the author did a good job of throwing in a few red herrings to keep me guessing to the end.
This author certainly has potential and once again had I read the first book this one might have made more sense to me.
Book 2 of a 4 book series. We're still with Eve and Adam and Lainey and Jack. But the bonds between Eve and Lainey end up stronger. This again is a mystery like book 1 (Something About Eve). If you can get through the hetero sex, and hold onto the love between Eve and Lainey to get to books 4 & 5! A great series! 5 stars!
Disclaimer: I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
We continue where we left off with Eve, Adam, and Lainey. This one is written more from Eve's perspective, which I greatly enjoyed, and we get to keep reading about Eve's new marriage to Adam and their sweet baby girl, Bella. Unfortunately, they don't stay happy-go-lucky for very long, as once again there's trouble afoot for Eve. It starts when some of her newly-acquired paintings go missing, and the ones that do make it to the gallery are forgeries! While trying to figure out this mystery, Eve gets pulled into yet another game of cat and mouse, one that she may not be able to win.
This is a great series, and the relationships are easy to identify with. Eve is in love with Adam, Lainey is in love with Jack, but Eve and Lainey both love each other. Now that it's been two years, we can see how they've changed, but we also get to go along with them as they try to cope with the feelings that still exist between them. How will they handle it while dealing with this new and dangerous conflict? You'll have to read that for yourself.
Ok... I absolutely loved the first instalment Something About Eve. It has everything you could want from a love story, romance, sex, humour, intrigue, mystery, angst and most importantly....love. I read the book in one sitting and didn't really sleep the evening after I started reading. 5 stars for sure. Jumped on the second instalment immediately the following morning to see how the relationship between Eve and Lainey developed and must say that I was a bit disappointed that this focused on Eve and Adam. While Adam and Eve's relationship was sweet and far from biblical, I wished that in this instance, Eve continued to be tempted by Lainey's fruit. Ha! I could not resist! Overall good series and looking forward to reading more Jourdyn Kelly.

I didn’t like the end of first book, and I was reluctant to read this one knowing Eve was with Adam and I skipped all their🔥 parts cause I was only interested in Lainey and Eves relationship but at the end I kinda enjoyed the story.
I really like Jourdyn's writing style but I didn't like this book…. Let me explain, the straight relationships in this book and in Something About Eve made it very hard to read for me. I was reading lesfic when I was married to a man. So you can imagine my surprise when Eve and Lainey had sex with the men in their life's. Being with my now wife, married for 4 yrs together for 21 yrs, I definitely don't want to read it now. But I was hoping Eve and Lainey would get their happy ending, so I kept reading. And here I go again to the next book in the series with my fingers still crossed. This book made me realize what it is that I like about Jourdyn's writing. In other books, you usually just get the thoughts of the main character or characters if your lucky. But with Jourdyn you get everyone's thoughts and feelings. And it just draws you into the story even more.
Great book except for the men lol.

Passion, romance, and mystery come crashing together to twist a tale full of suspense and relentless intrigue. Flawed Perfection follows the life of Eve Sumptor-Riley, a wealthy woman and connoisseur of art. Eve lives a happy life with Adam, her true love, and her daughter Bella, whom she adores. This perfect fairy tale life almost comes crashing to an end when a mysterious unknown entity intrudes upon her happiness and threatens her family. The book was extremely exciting and always kept you on your toes and hoping Eve would survive the challenges placed before her. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mystery and romance. I would also like to thank the author for listing the giveaway for this great book! I hope Jourdyn Kelly continues to write more books on this wonderful and complex character.
This story made me cry for so many different reasons. Eve and Lainey’s story was tested a lot in this book and the sadness that they had to endure was so heartbreaking. Eve’s life being in turmoil again now married to Adam and a mom to a baby girl, added to the angst within her. Again we had a villain looking for revenge against Eve, wanting to take everything away from her. The story once again was written with the intense need to get to the ending. That is where a lot of my tears appeared. Great great story! To be critical of one thing; how after a fire and many threats on her life is there not a super high tech alarm system on the gallery. That part bothered me. But still great.......
This book may have a bit downside for whoever does not like to read straight sex, but it is actually part of the emotional ride. But if you don't wish to read those parts you can just skip it, except one time that is after a certain event (I think the "event" will be quite clear), because it will be important to understand all the emotions involved around this book.
This book is so important to read in order to fully understand what is happening on the next book, and why that is happening.
Don't miss out on this great series! Everything happens for a reason...
Interesting story again from this author, however, I found myself floundering with the plot as the book progressed. Eve Sumptor as the main character is relayed in this book as less strong than in the previous. I suppose that is why the title is fitting. I think I prefer the strong, independent Eve. Adam takes up a lot of the dialogue in this book and I thought he was going to turn out to be the villain but alas, he didn't. Perhaps in the next one.
Couldn't wait for the follow-up to "Something About Eve" and this did not disappoint. I especially loved seeing more development of the relationship with Adam. The first book really was just the tip of the iceberg with the two of them and Flawed Perfection really brought out more depth with them. Wonderful job!
I'm infatuated with Eve and Lainey. I was just in list with everything. So many words I have to just believe in that love conquers all heart if just work for it. The words take you away and when you end you feel just ..ahh...that just grand feeling. When you read theirs story you will know the hardship that they go through and you will begin to believe.
Another great read and story about Eva Sumpton .This time her life once again is on the line but also family and friends. The author Jourdyn Kelly did a good job writing this. Having read the first book this one gives an insight into how she is allowing people in slowly.
I read this out of order and I’m glad I did. There’s so much hidden layers to Lainey and Eve’s relation that is laid out. As well as Adam and Eve’s dynamics. You see the difference between the two and I’m looking forward to rereading the next installment to capture the overall flow. Another great read by this author!
I’m hooked in this series! Lol! I can’t place it. I hate this trope, the back and forth. But the story is really compelling, not to mention dangers and high stake - not because of the possible/emotional cheating, but because there are crimes and deaths involved! Like it has slow burn thriller vibes.
Ms. Kelly has written another fantastic book! This is a page turner a book that you cannot put down. The characters Lainey,Eve, and Adam keep you on your toes wondering what will happen next! I cannot wait to read Ms. Kelly’s next book! She is an AWESOME writer!
I don't think Eve is in love with Adam. She most likely love him because he is the first and only man that has treated her nice. I think the real love of her life is Lainey, who she can't seem to live without being in her life. Lainey feels the same way about Eve.
I love a story that sucks you in and you can't stop reading no matter what. This one is full of feelings, as the previous one, but also extra drama. One of the best series ever.
It is the second story about Eve but also a standalone book. Intense moments and dialogues, beautifully described characters and love emotions and strong feelings
