I obviously haven't read this book in the sense that I've sat down and gone from cover to cover - this is very obviously a reference book, I've had my copy for decades, it has proved very useful over the years.
It's an extraordinary piece of scholarship - it translates Latin into English, it does not offer a parallel English into Latin reference.
Scholarly, sophisticated, very useful ... but there are online options available nowadays and your need to translate Latin might be better tackled via a search engine.
But, an excellent book to have if you are working with Latin texts or sources, an interesting book to have if you like dissecting the Latin roots of the English or other languages, a rewarding book to have on your bookshelf if you are building yourself a personal reference library.

This Latin dictionary was suggested by a friend in my Latin group. It definitely does go into more detail than some of the others as far as shades of meanings of the words and also there are a lot of interesting words that some other Latin dictionaries sometimes don't have. It also has some very interesting appendices, such as the Roman Calendar, Roman weights and measures and Roman currency. I would recommend it for anyone interested in Latin language and culture. All in all, it's a well-done dictionary. Bravo!
