Vegetarian entrepreneur and amateur sleuth Kate Jasper heads back into action when, one by one, members of her new husband's all-male support group are targeted for murder and it begins to look like another member may be responsible. Original.
Jaki Girdner lives, works, practices tai chi, and eats her vegetables in Marin County, California, along with her favourite computer peripheral, Famous Spouse Gregory Booi.
A cozy set in Marin County. After reading this, I became a supporter of the state of Jefferson.
Kate Jasper's husband leads a male support group, where everybody told their deepest secret. Then somebody murders a member of the group via a hit and run---with the husband's car. Nobody will tell the secrets, it's confidential. Kate starts poking around to find the murderer.
One sort of hopes the portrayal of Marin County is not very true to life.
Surprise! Kate's aunt comes for a visit per Kate's mom to prepare Kate for her WEDDING! Never mind that Kate and her hubby are already web (they eloped!), mom and Auntie want a REAL wedding - bride, groom, wedding dress, bridesmaids, etc. which suits her husband just fine - but Kate has reservations. It starts with a potluck where her spare Jaquar key goes missing - right around the time a member of her husband's group get gunned down by that car! The shock comes when not only is Auntie friendly with one of the group - who later is killed - but that she helps bring down the killer!
Kate Jasper is involved in another murder! There's a shocker! This time, it's her husband who gets involved. He's a part of this male only support group. One evening after their meeting, a member is run down--and murderer uses Kate's husband's car. Kate decides the best way to keep him out of trouble is to solve this one herself.
I enjoyed this one. I haven't read a lot in the series, but I always like them when I do.
I found this book got bogged down with far too many characters and several plots. After a member of her husband's all-male sensitivity group is run over, she and he try to find the killer.
Few of the characters are particularly believable or engaging. I found quite a bit of the book to be boring and repetitive.
I give it a two instead of a one because I did like the aunt.
