Legendary model Liana Marchall was every man's dream — and one man's nightmare! For eleven years she'd haunted him, tormented him with memories of wild passion, and unforgettable sorrow, and now Richard Zagen had come to the great estate of SwanSea Place in search of the only woman he'd ever loved... the heartless siren who'd left him to build her career in the arms of another!

Liana panicked at the sight of the man she'd once adored and then deceived, the destroyer who could give such astonishing pleasure and inflict such shattering pain. Time had only deepened her hunter for Richard, but the scars she carried were as painful as those she'd long ago left on him. Swept up in a storm of desperate desire, drawn into an inferno of passion and intrigue that bridged the present and distant past, they struggled to find the truth. By forgiving each other, could they remove the shadow of sorrow and thwarted love from SwanSea Place?

“I couldn’t get enough of you. If there’d been some way to take you intravenously, I would have done it. What a high—a constant stream of you, pumping through my veins. If we’d stayed together long enough, I might have found a way.”

"The Deceit" is the story of Liana and Richard.

An obsessed hero returns to take revenge on the heroine who broke his heart eleven years ago. He is now a cynical businesswoman, she is a famous supermodel. Someone is out to harm her body, hero is hell bent on annihilating her heart.

So.. He was crazy about her but very, VERY cold. They had loads of sex, but I found her betrayal and his retaliation a bit disturbing. There was loads of protective possession, drama and a nice ending which connected with the Swansea resort.

Enjoyed in part.

This book started off with a bang of sexual tension. Very hot indeed! However towards the end it just fizzled for me and lost it's luster. I skimmed the rest and never really finished it like I should have. I'm very impatient lately. I have ADD kind of like my son, only he's hyper too. If a book can't keep me I just abandon it. I know it's probably not fair to the author who in this case, I wanted to give more patience. Hence, I just don't have the precious time. Maybe when my son is a bit older. You know whats really bad? This little book is hardly 200 pages LOL. My fellow goodreads friends can have a laugh on me girls. Maybe one day I'll actually get to do a buddy read.

Though this is book 2 of the series, I felt the book could be read as a standalone. Book 1 was the story of the resort's proprietress Caitlin.

Liana was a world-famous model, on an assignment in SwanSea. She was shocked to see Richard, with whom she had had a torrid two-week love affair 11 years ago. Mystery #1: she jilted him but it broke her heart and he's hated her since. So WHY did it happen? Her father must have been one of the causes because right after he died six years ago, she flew to NYC to see Richard, only to be doubly devastated by the news that he was on his honeymoon!

But he's divorced now. And he still wanted Liana...for revenge?

Mystery #2: this photoshoot seemed jinxed from the get go. The photographer Jean-Paul Savion was taken ill, so his disciple Clay was sent in his place. Then one after another, almost every day there's an accident that could have put Liana out of action for weeks. It was not apparent she was the target, but by the third of such "accident " it was pretty hard to ignore, but why and who?

Mystery #3: The preface was of Leonora Deverell, mistress of SwanSea, leaving her cold but rich husband. The story left us in suspense, right till the end.

Overall I enjoyed the book because there's so much going on. We never did find out why Liana and Richard fall in love with each other; lust yes, it was obvious their sexual attraction was still as strong as, if not stronger than, 11 years ago.

But here and now, it was easy to see that though Richard meant to be mean/seek revenge on Liana, he could not help but still care for her. He was everywhere, right there to rescue her when she was in danger though he could do nothing to prevent the incidents.

I would love to read the rest of the series.
