“Alexandra’s story” is the first book in the Pearls of Sharah series- about a mysterious fabled necklace symbolic of true love, which changes the life of anyone who comes across it- can be cherished- but cannot be possessed.

When Alexandra Sheldon is on a boat party in Ares, she never expects that the feeling of excitement in her bones would be an indication that she was going to meet the mysterious and dangerous Damon Barand.

Damon too feels it, however he is equally entranced by the pearls gracing Alex’s neck, and wishes to possess her as well as them.

Soon the trusting Alex is swept away on his yacht by his sensuous lovemaking, but while she keeps falling for him, he distances himself while keeping an eye on his treasure.

However, Damon is a connoisseur of all things fine, and Alex is scarred. Can a keeper of perfect actually fall for imperfection?

There is a secondary plot about attempts on Damon’s life by an old enemy Kito, but it is overshadowed by the drama between the leads.

This was an interesting read. I loved the cover and blurb in this mystical plot, but I was honestly annoyed by Damon, especially by his attempts to move on (even though nothing happens). Also his obsession with the pears was a bit irritating, hence the ending was appreciated.

Lastly the shotgun wedding plot didn’t make any sense. I’d rather the heroine had stayed away and the hero had come to his senses.

This could have been soooo much better. The blurb was everything!

I still have to give kudos to FP for all the hot lovemaking scenes. Those definitely kept me going.

What a ride! I just finished The Pearls of Sharah I: Alexandra’s Story by Fayrene Preston. I’d say it took me about 3 hours. I don’t know if I can recommend it but it is certainly a trip. Alexandra owns these magic/cursed pearls. Damon is an arms dealer who lives on a yacht and wants those pearls. Alex decides to live on the yacht with him, for some reason, but never knows if he wants her or the pearls. Quite a few murders and explosions happen before they decide yes, he loves her. It’s really whacky but I got to imagine yachting around the Mediterranean and maybe that’s what we all need in these times.
