Caitlin Deverell had been born in SwanSea, the magnificent family home on the wild, windswept coast of Maine, and now she was restoring its splendor to open it as a luxury resort. When Nico DiFrenza asked her to let him stay for a few days, caution demanded she refuse the mysterious visitor's request — but his spellbinding charm made ... more »that impossible! Nico exuded power, danger, and an irresistible heat that struck sparks, willing Caitlin to draw him into her private palace... and into her secret heart.
Thrilled by his desire for her, but confused that he would fight it, Caitlin dared to surrender to Nico's passionate violence. But what was the ancient secret that had brought him to SwanSea, that made him lie to the only woman for whom he'd ever lost control? Nico feared his confession would shatter Caitlin's world, but she insisted that living in shadows was worse than any betrayal. Would SwanSea's legacy be forgiveness — and a home for enduring love?
Fayrene Preston was born in Texas, USA where she raised. Her high school years were straight out of the movie American Graffiti — good friends and that wonderful rock ‘n' roll. After high school, Fayrene attended college and earned an Associate degree in Business Administration.
Almost immediately afterward the university, she married a Navy man and for the next five years they traveled back and forth across America several times and lived on both coasts. Although the marriage didn't last, she was blessed with two completely wonderful sons, both grown now, and the most beautiful little granddaughter you've ever seen in your life!
She counts herself as very lucky. Books have always been an important part of her life, and now she gets to make her living by writing them. She can't think of anything to make one happier. She published her debut novel as Jaelyn Conlee in 1982, now continued writing as Fayrene Preston.
Here we meet Caitlin Deverell, who has been handed down the beautiful SwanSea palace from her grandfather, and now plans to renovate it to make it a luxury resort. She loves her home, and has nostalgic memories attached to it. Things take a turn when a stranger shows up at her house, insisting to stay at the incomplete structure in order to recuperate from an injury. Initially reluctant, she soon gives in to his relentless demands, instantly taken by him. Nico DiFrenza feels the crazy attraction too. But having his own deceptive motives for staying at the SwanSea, he tries to push Caitlin away, but the attraction is too strong to deny. As they embark on a forbidden sexual journey filled with lies and love, truths are exposed and the plot gets much more convoluted. So let's discuss this book. The first half is everything I love- passionate, intriguing, thrilling. The second half..Meh. The book gets very muddled, with multiple things happening at the same time, and the revelation that is totally NOT my cup of tea.. I mean the hero is all like "Its ok if we share a great grandfather and are like 2nd-3rd cousins but I love banging ya and we need to take our shared bloodlines forward WTEVERLOVINGFCK" Safe 2.5/5
