Elizabeth Regina: The Age of Triumph 1588-1603

Rate this book
This is the concluding part of Alison Plowden's biography. It presents Elizabeth I at the peak of her form - tough, vigorous and autocratic, her appetite for the pleasures and problems of life seemingly unquenchable.

Excellent. I love the way Plowden writes, so clear and informative and yet easy to understand. She makes complex issues appear simple, and offers real insight into Elizabeth and her times. This book covers the end of her reign, and is just as good and exciting as the previous books in the series. Highly recommended.

This is a surprisingly easy to read history book. It ends at her death but the big story is the story of the Earl of Essex who was just crazy.
