Wife-watching. Swinging. Consensual infidelity. These are not concepts that Maxwell Callahan understands, let alone fantasizes about. Max has a great life: husband, father, successful bar owner. He has no plans to shake it up.
And then he witnesses a couple play a dangerous game of pick-up in his bar: the wife gets picked up, the husband watches. A seed takes root and starts to grow. What would it be like to watch his beautiful wife, Katie, in the same situation?
Smart, successful, yet a little conservative, he never thought Katie would entertain such an idea…until she does. This suburban couple is about to take a wild ride as they turn fantasy into reality. Don’t miss this marital adventure as Katie and Max try something forbidden.
Is this a 4 star literary classic... nah, no it's not.
If you're looking for a 4 star hotwife/cuckold/erotic reading adventure... I'm thinking this may deliver. Good writing, steamy sex scenes and Mr.Wright actually took the time to throw in a story.
I’m sure my review will not do this book justice. But I’ve got to try.
Firstly, if you are familiar with my reviews you know I’m not afraid to express my displeasure with an author’s work. I’m not a gushing fan of all Kenny’s books. I said all that to put the following comments in perspective.
This book played with my emotions more than any I can recall. I actually had to take breaks along the way. He had me nervous and apprehensive as to where he was taking the story and characters. For me, the tension and suspense was palpable at times. Again, if you’ve read my reviews you know I abhor hotwives who cheat, lie, disrespect or cuckold their husbands. And some of Kenny’s books go there. As the story progressed I was nervous he might take Katie down that road.
I’m a sucker for couples committed to their marriage and genuinely in love while they explore their sexuality. Kenny convinced us that Katie and Max were one of those couples. But again, he kept teasing us that Katie might go off behind her husband’s back. He did a masterful job of keeping you wondering right to the end.
The character development is thorough without being tedious. They are all likable and easy to identify with, (except for Greg and Chole and even they are delicious as proper villains).
Katie’s slow evolvement into an uninhibited sexual woman is as one would expect in real life. I want so bad to tell you about the ending but I’ll refrain. I’ll just say it is satisfying and hot as hell.
In my opinion, and coming from one who has read all the best authors in this genre, this is at least one of the best if not the very best. After finally calming down I admit to thoroughly enjoying this book.
Many of the cuckold stories I read are told from the woman's point of view. It was kind of thrilling to read about a man aroused and terrified by his desires, often not knowing what was going on. The conclusion to the story was quite suspenseful. I can't wait to read the sequel.
(One thing, though: there were a few spelling and other errors. For example, one is "poring over" reading matter, not "pouring over" it.)
KW is one of my favorite writers. He does an excellent job with this venue. I’m fascinated with the topic, and how characters get pigeonholed. Max is an Alpha (I hate this term so I’m going to use Bull going forward) His desire to be a cuckold pushes him to be submissive. This is unnatural to his personality and confuses him. I have always wondered about the ‘terms’ with this fetish. Wife-Sharing, when the spouses split up to have sex with someone else and ‘report back’ later,… How is that Sharing? That’s giving the spouse away. True Sharing would have both partners in the room. If one chooses to watch, and not actively participate, that’s their choice. As long as no one is shut out and choice is unimpeded. That,.. is Sharing. I do not understand Max’s original desire. It evolves in the course of the story. He is absolutely NOT submissive. Many of these stories (spoiler alert, Not this one), have the couple grant one spouse extraordinary privileges withina set of Rules. Invariably, the spouse granted those freedoms, breaks the rules and the other spouse capitulates and let’s them off the hook. That’s the case of a spouse who is unable to take YES for an answer. This creates angst and excitement for the reader. It’s an over-used technique and it becomes tedious to read. KW does not do this here. He builds excitement and respects the characters with style and grace. The result,.. you fall in love with the characters and are very eager for a sequel. I am very eager for part two to discover further adventures of Max and Katie.
Be sure to read this with it's partner Nothing Forbidden Well done.
This is a terrific book that has been on my list for a long time but I never got to it. The story has a true plot, interesting characters, lots going on, a twist at the end and lots of hot scenarios. The writing is very good as is the editing. There is a sequel which I am looking forward to reading and see where the story goes from here. That's it, no spoilers but a recommendation to read it if you enjoy the genre....
Incredible - what a ride. This is almost more like an erotic thriller than straight erotica, it’s a little more plot-driven than the author's other, more character-led stories, which for me made it even more exciting, particularly in the breath-taking last third.
It’s the story of a bar owner who stumbles onto the concept of wife-sharing quite by chance, but as he decides to pursue it and introduce it to his wife, he finds himself losing control in a shocking manner. While he finds the idea of his sexy other half straying into the arms of another man a thrilling prospect, he is taken for a ride by a machiavellian villain who could just wreck everything, including his marriage.
I’ve become a big fan of Kenny Wright this year following the superb Just Watch Me, but this has been my favorite so far. I couldn’t put it down for a moment, and as I read the second half, I swear I was shaking a little. Once again, wonderful characters, particularly the villain of the piece, great pace and slick writing, with a fully satisfying ending.
this was a very good read...nice to have another book full of husbands angst...and this built and built... to a good ending!..good storyline and characters built in !. wont say much but just to say that the wife katie was given freedom to play about and...she took it!.with help from a long time swinging couple.it does have some dark parts in it....which I love in these type of books!
just one thing I noticed, when Chloe told max that Katie and Greg hadn't been just meeting for lunch but doing more..was it one of her lies or was it true?.if she had then this changed the whole mechanic of things ..as everything else got explained but that bit didn't!...I have read the follow up..and my review is on that page! as for this its a very good read!
A very nice story, interesting and different. Not your usual hotwife/cuckold tale, but the twist is fun and entertaining. If you want your sex to really come from a story that you’ll enjoy reading, then get this book and read this author.
When I read this story, I never once wanted to check on my wife. A lot of pages that led me to swing sex of three married couples. I'm tired of swinger parties in real life. The transformation of Greg from a strange cuckold to a tireless stallion with a huge cock is not clear to me. How much did the author come up with? Did you like it? I was waiting for Chloe to introduce Katie to the best stallions from her stable. Chloe is the character that I liked. She knows what she wants, she's not afraid of it, she gets it. The sweet pill for me is the selection of actresses for female roles. The author always invites very beautiful women to his films and it's nice to dream about them. Without it, there would be two stars. For me, the topic of "Reluctant Cuckold" is more interesting, you can recommend it to me.
I read this one after training to love it. Even through I should have read this first, as it is closely related to my most favorite trilogy, training to love it. This is another solid work—great plot, relatable characters, great story telling and pace, hot sex scene, and great writing. I think I have a narrow taste at this moment. But he knows how to push my buttons.
This is probably his early work, I can see the similarities and improvements in training to love it series. Kenny wright definitely has a pattern. You can tell from the way the characters talk, the way the plot development, etc. I would still say this is one of my favorite.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. This is the third Kenny Wright book I’ve read and I’ve found that he does a good job of making the characters real, not cardboard. In fact, the more real he makes his characters— especially the narrator’s wife— the more stimulating the story. I found myself wanting to get to know the wife better and wishing he could have developed her characters more deeply. Bottom line: great read! Keep up the good work!
Hmmm, this book was written by a man & it shows. Not too keen on the fantasy that turns this guy on either...its rather one-sided made to look as if its what both characters desire. Naturally a avenue is created for this to take root but it does not flow authentically. Its masked & that puts me off personally.
I just could not continue with this book when I realized I was looking at a plot that involved a manly loving husband wanting to watch his wife fuck other men. So unreal and too painful to contemplate. If it was a wife swapping theme I would have pressed on.
I'd read two strong Kenny Wright stories that in the end lost track of their emotional stories and went over the top.
"Something Forbidden" pretty much does everything right. We have a hesitant couple exploring step by step the possibilities that the husband might enjoy it if her wife has a good time with other men. This is told against the background of two characters with jobs that feel authentic. There's a nice back and forth as they negotiate how they feel and how their new adventures works for the marriage. There are some nice tensions created by a femme fatale character who I wish hadn't turned into a cardboard villain at the end. But this is one of the best works I've erotica I've read in my recent exploration of the genre. The fact that it's written as a romance, taking time with place and character, helps the story, and it makes the sex even that much more exciting.
There's a lovely sex-scene epilogue, but the key emotional story was over before it takes place. Maybe I'll find the Kenny Wright novel where the ideal climactic sex scene is also the emotional climax of the story.
The thing is, Kenny Wright is an able writer. The other thing is that too much of his writing is Hot Wife erotica. Case in point, Something Forbidden. A comfortable couple, a steady safe marriage. Then one night, the husband watches as someone else’s wife plays herself into the hands and bed of another man, while her husband watches with evident approval.
We already know this will be a Hot Wife type erotic story so the spoilers are already understood. The difference is that in or out of the sex, Kenny Wright can keep your attention. There is more plot than just the usual negotiations and anguish. There is the fact that there is craftmanship in the writing. The result is that Forbidden is longer than the too typical 30 page once over and worthy of a second look.
I suspect that Mr. Write is writing to a mostly male audience and mostly one with at least some thoughts of watching. Given his abilities, I hope to see him expand his shelf to include more than this one niche market.
Katie & Max find their way despite some blistering challenges that may sink a less committed couple. It's edge of the seat stuff with deliciously tasty details from start to end with strong character development. Plus a couple of nice unexpected surprises along the way. Looking forward to what's next for these two.
