Andrew Merrick was whisked from his home in England, 1848 to another time, the very day a mob had attacked his family. Wondering why he remains in this strange place, all he wants is to find the treasure his father had hidden, hoping this might take Andrew back home. But he’s running out of time. When he meets a lovely woman in this new century, he feels she is the one who will help him.
Halle Chapman has come to England to find her missing father. What she finds instead is a nice man who claims he’s from the past. Although she doesn’t believe in time-travel, deep in her heart, she knows she must help Andrew. What she finds instead is that discovering the key to her future lies in the past. Now, to return to her own time, she needs to solve the mystery surrounding Andrew Merrick and his family’s murder.
I enjoyed this book. There were a few typos and some inconsistencies, but it didn't really take away from the book at all. I liked that there was no sordid sex scenes. A nice clean story..other than some murder and living, and betrayal. Hehehe. But that's what makes the book exciting. Yes I would recommend this book. I'm looking for the second book in the series now!
I would give this a ten rating if I could! As it is, I made this my pick for book of the month. A tree exists on a property that becomes a Bread And Breakfast in the twentieth century. Nobody realizes it is a portal through time. There is a rumor a treasure is buried under this tree. The hunt for the treasure is the basis for the suspense and romance in this novel. It was so good I kept fighting my yawns and had to give up to sleep anyway!!!!
It was very gripping from page one. The mystery, the love and the gush I loved it all. I hated the end yet loved it. Cleverly done except it bothered me with the miracle it just didn't seem to fit but then again the next book is coming out in 2014 so maybe then it will explain.
I love Marie Higgins' romance and this time travel was no exception. The romance made my heart thump and the story was so intriguing. I loved seeing the characters in different time periods and watching them fall in love twice was wonderful! Highly recommended.
A well executed time travel. Nothing amazing but I liked it and it was worth the time to read. Similar to the duchess in that the hero is introduced as a sick dying old looking man and turns out to be a dashing young viral man haha
Really liked this story. It was a different twist for me to have the person from the past to come forward first. Good storyline. Will follow up with this author.
This was one of the best books I've read. I absolutely loved it. I wish the ending would have been longer but I enjoyed it tremendously. Thanks Marie Higgins.
What a delightful time travel that really pulls the reader in giving you mystery, love, and adventure. I thought it was well written and the deleterious what wonderful. It is an audio that I will listen to again. I really enjoyed how the past and future are mixed. The mystery and the unknown really had me hooked.
Ms. Peterson is becoming one of my favorite narrators. I love her voice and how she puts so much emotion into it for her characters. She really brings the story alive for me pulling me in with an audio I had trouble putting down. There are no background noises, no repeating of words, no volume changes, just a wonderful clean, clear audio that really grabs your attention. If any breaks were taken I could not tell, the deleterious is wonderful, powerful and totally delightful. I had no trouble at all picturing each scene from the thrill, confusion, excitement in my mind. Her performance as always is outstanding and one you get lost in. This narrator has a very smooth and rich voice she has no trouble pulling off each scene making you feel as if you are there. Her male voices are just as wonderful as her female’s ones. You always know what each character is feeling and just what they are going through. Her voice is one I never get tired of listening to. I am so looking forward to listening to more of her work.
Andrew is a delightful character he has mixed emotions on why he went ahead in time. Halle feels lost not knowing her father and is spending her time hunting him down. We the listener has mixed emotions with him. You have to even wonder if he is really real, than you wonder just how he is mixed up in all the mystery around him. My emotions were all over the place why listening to this audio. There is a lot of mystery, a little confusion for the characters on how the time travel is possible. I loved how that is played out from getting Halle to believe he is from the past. It really is a great plot that is well written. I look forward to getting to know more of this authors work.
I absolutely loved this book so much I couldn't put it down after reading the first page. Loved it so much I even read it again moths later! As before couldn't put it down even the second time. I am disappointed that I've been unable to find the so called sequel to it that this author promised to be out in 2014. I've searched everywhere for it. Since it's now 2017. I thought it would be out somewhere.
Love Lost in Time by Marie Higgins is a wonderful stor. I loved how it grabs you right from the start and doesn't let you go until it takes you through twists and turns until the very end. My opinion. Thanks
I saw this book in KU and thought it looked like a book I would like to read am I ever glad I did. A time travel book with suspense, drama, danger, an evil closer than they expected, time travel and romance. I would recommend this book.
I love time travel book and I liked this one from the very beginning. It was so different for the others I’ve read. Andrew is from 1848 but he’s thrown forward, to his own house in the future which is now a B&B. Halle checks in and the fun begins. Andrew is 29 but looks 40-ish and he’s getting sicker and losing more hair every day and then he starts to cough up blood. Halle finds him outside in the snow and tries to help when she’s tossed back to his time and meets Andrew BEFORE he ever went forward, before he ever met Halle.
This was a good story but I just can’t see myself reading anything else by this author. If I was 14 or 15 I would have thought it was totally fantastic but it turned a little too mushy and teenager-ish for an adult, I mean an adult that didn’t read YA books. One reviewer on Goodreads said this, “a clean read and I think my junior high school self would have enjoyed it once upon a time,” and I couldn’t agree more with her.
There were a few kisses but that was it! And for some reason Halle acted like she was from the 19th century instead of the 21st century, acting so virginal when things were about to become heated between her and Andrew. She even talked like she was born and raised in that time. That was really kind of silly to me.
I would like to say: People who read TIME TRAVEL and leave reviews that say “it wasn’t believable,” are just kind of crazy! Why in the hell would TIME TRAVEL be believable. It’s NOT real; therefore it’s NOT going to be believable. Its fantasy, so if you want something you read to be believable DON’T read time travel, any kind of shifter book, or vampire, or fairies, or anything that isn’t real. Ahh, now I feel better.
As to the narration: Great! Nancy Peterson did some very good voices and read with terrific emotions. One Audible reviewer said, “Stop saying “holy crap, already,” which I didn’t understand because Halle only said it twice through the entire book. If she’d said “stop winking, already,” I would have understood that. (There was a lot of winking going on.)
This is a charming time travel romance and it's a little bit different as it involves both characters travelling forward or back at different times. The story primarily takes place in Victorian times and is exciting and full of suspense.
Halle's character really appealed to me as she was intelligent, confident and brave. I loved how she dashed to action when the occasion warranted her help. As I listened to the story Halle felt very real to me. I liked Andrew as well but he was more like a fairy tale prince and I think that added to the charm of the story. Their romance was magical and charming and I just loved that.
There were so many scenes in this book that I enjoyed but I loved all the suspense filled scenes involving Halle and the family's enemies. The final showdown where the house is attacked is filled with danger and suspense. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering how successful Halle and Andrew were going to be in altering the family's fate. The narrator did a wonderful job of performing the characters and I found it very easy to listen to. She really brought the story to life and I got a great sense of the characters' emotions and feelings through her performance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this whole book and I couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable clean romance with a bit of mystery, murder and suspense. If you like time-travel romance stories this is a really good, well written story with great characters and plot. I really liked the twist that both of the main characters time-travel. Definitely worth your time.
Nancy Peterson does a great job with the narration. Really good character voices. Pleasant voice. Clearly spoken and a smooth even pace. She was able to make the characters and the story come to life. Always enjoyable to listen to her narrate a book.

It was just okay to me. Ok plot, but the sudden change of villain wasn't entirely believable.
My main problem with it was is that while I'll allow a lot of author license in fiction, I still need the story to make sense. Time-travel stories are complicated like that. When someone goes back in time and changes the future, then it doesn't make sense when the future is the same as when the person left.
The IDEA of the plot brought me in and kept me reading, well, scan-reading the book to the end, but the tone of it was sophmoric. I won't read further in the series even though I was momentarily tempted to find out what happens next. Well, I should confess that I also kept reading because I had purchased the Kindle book. However, this was a clean read and I think my junior high school self would have enjoyed it once upon a time.
I came across this on Amazon while looking for a time travel romance book. I really loved the story. The author does a good job of keeping things straight during a pretty chaotic storyline. The only thing I did not love was that some of the lines in the book were just too cheesy at times for me. Other than that it is a fairly enjoyable read.
