A marvelous teen fantasy/romance that makes immortality seem part of the normal American High School experience. Set in Carpinteria, California, local author Julie Ruggieri brings to life the angst and euphoria of young love through Jamie, the offbeat high school musical star and Christian, the shiny new boy. Alternating the chapters from their viewpoints allows for quick reader immersion into the lives and minds of both protagonists. Without spoilers, I'll just say that Ruggieri manages to make magic and eternal love believable. The tale blooms quickly capturing the reader into a need-to-know race through the pages. No Saturday chores were done once I picked up this book.
