I was transported back to my own high school experience working with an "old school" coach. Great read for contemporary players to understand to simply "play basketball like human beings"

Great book. Great stories from a coach. I found it to be funny and caught myself laughing out loud.

The basics:
1) Practice on your own
2) Play like a human being -
Get ready to move (knees bent)..stop looking like a pregnant lady.
Dont trot - Get there as fast and quickly as you can
Play with common sense
Ball moves - you move
4) Never give up an easy basket
5) Throw it to your team
6) Only take easy baskets
7) If you didnt put the time in to get better dont expect to take shots in games. We only want those that practice to shoot.
8) Only take shots you practiced. Master the layup before you move to the 3 pt line
9) Basketball court is a workplace. Pregame-prepractice shots should be used to get better, a paino teacher wouldn't allow a student to bang on the keyboard before practice..just like a a coach doesnt like to see players throw up random shots before practice.
10) Injuries - If you stay on the floor as your team is getting back in transition - you are leaving your team in a disadvantage. You have 2 seconds to decide if you are hurt. If you are..come out the game and see the trainer. If not..get up and help your team.
11) Focus on the small things..But don them correctly.
