4.5 stars The third installment of this series continues the thrills I have come to enjoy. In this book we follow the story of Raahi as he tries to protect a place that a copper dragon has protected for years from his people's enemies. Absolutely loved this story and it was so fun to watch the characters progress. It brought forth new enemies and unlikely friendships. Had a great underlying message about how everyone controls their own destinies even when the odds are stacked against them. Above all else showed that loyalty, family and friendship are the greatest gifts and should be treasured. --Maxx
The copper dragon really opened up some questions about the series while also answering some big questions at the same time. I couldn't put it down and can't wait to read the next one!
This series has been hard for me to pin down; it looks YA or maybe younger, it sometimes acts it... and yet it was well written (up until this book which I'll get to later), has interesting characters, and an interesting premise. Something happened with this book though that's made me wonder if I was inflating what I thought to be a promising series into a very shallow (seeming - I'm fully admitting I may be wrong in this) kids/wish fulfillment tale.
There are numerous spelling errors, which is just unacceptable in this day and age. The pacing is off by a lot; things drag for far too long from the midway point until nearly the end, which is when the pacing suddenly just sprints.
Even though I enjoyed this book well enough, it just feels off. This will probably be the last of the series I will read for now. Would I rate this series and/or book? Yes, but keep your expectations lower than mine. It is good.
