Pole Dancer
Who'd have thought one little yacht could cause him so much trouble... Strip club owner Sterling Monitor has always wanted to own a boat, so as soon as he is financially able, he drops a cool two million on a sweet little yacht he names Pole Dancer in honor of his club. But no sooner does he get the vessel home than his house is invaded, his girlfriend is kidnapped, and an elderly gangster tries to muscle in on the action at his club. With so many disasters assaulting him, one after another, Sterling begins to question the wisdom of spending two millions dollars, he really couldn't afford, on something as frivolous as Pole Dancer. Unfortunately, even more nasty surprises await him, and Sterling starts to fear that the true cost of his folly will be his life.

What does a strip club owner, a mob guy, a redneck militia group, and a US Marshall have in common? One kidnapped, ex-stripper, named Cali Smalls.
The opening of this book is what caught my attention. A boat named Pole Dancer? I couldn't go wrong with that. The story read as the description said. It's about a guy named Sterling Monitor who owns a Strip club and buys a two million dollar yacht, and his girlfriend gets kidnapped. That's when the trouble starts. The plot develops at a nice pace, and comes alive with well-developed characters. What I loved about this book is that most of the characters were all anti-hero types where the fine line of likeable and unlikeable blur. The ending built up with a lot of tension but then it ended rather quickly and I'm still left wondering about a few characters, but not to the point that I wasn't happy with it. I found the dialogue to be witty and full of humor at times, especially for some of the characters I thought to be knuckleheads.
I don't give out 5 star ratings too often, and I do believe the book could use more editing with sentence structure. Still, I think this was a great debut novel. I would definitely read another book by Mr. Coger.

Sterling Monitor is an okay guy. His only crime is wanting the finer things in life. The moment he purchases a 2 million boat and parks it in front of his home, his life and that of a few others spiral out of control.
Pole Dancer is a great book. The plot is very well thought out and the premise is intriguing. Most of the male characters are great, I didn’t care much for the female characters though. The characters are mostly well developed and I found myself smiling or laughing at the rich dialogue most of the time. It is a fast read and I was able to read the entire book through Easter Sunday.
I didn’t particularly like the end of the book (which is why it doesn't get a 5 star). In my opinion, I feel the conclusion was pretty rushed, and a few characters didn’t get exactly what they deserved. That aside, I’m recommending Pole Dancer to anyone that loves action packed nonstop suspense.
