Well. I read this book after the one I tried to read before turned out to have at least one rape scene it, and I had already been less convinced by the plot. So I liked this already simply because it wasn't that other book, and all in all it was really quite enjoyable. Just a bit, well. You'll see.
It's about Rintarou Koyami, the third son of a really rich family, who is not only rich, but also smart and good-looking. When he is about to enter his father's new form, he ends up having to buy a suit, and is introduced by his mother to Tachikawa, the concierge of a department store, who is very manly and handsome and also apparently likes to tease his customers. Or is it just Rintarou?
Rintarou ends up falling in love with Tachikawa, but because it's the first time he's ever been in love, he doesn't quite know how to go about it and of course pretty much fails spectacularly. In the end, though, he gets his man.
Now, I enjoyed the fact that the uke was the one doing the pursuing in this case. Also, Rintarou is a pretty nice guy - if anything, he's definitely trying to do his best. And the scene when Rintarou finally manages to get his act together was really well done.
However, while I definitely could see why both of them are attracted to each other, it felt like nothing but sexual attraction. I mean, I'm happy for Rintarou and all, but compared with other stories I read, there wasn't enough focus on their feelings for me (also not enough angst - I mean, it did beat the story about the brother who ends up raping his dead brother's ex-lover, but a little more tension in the middle would have been nice). Also, all in all I couldn't help thinking "I'd love to have your problems" when reading about Rintarou.
But yeah, it was still fun. I have to say thought, after I struck gold with pretty much all the Dear+ titles, the Gush titles haven't quite managed to convince me so far. But maybe it was just bad luck.
