Falling in love with each other was unlikely.
Surviving their adventure was doubtful.
Living without each other: impossible.

To everyone else, it may look like she’s leaving for college, but for Addie Battes, it is the beginning of another adventure. And balancing acts threaten to fall when violent competitors rise up to put Charlie and the guys out of business.

Addie soon realizes that keeping her relationship with Charlie a secret is the least of her problems, especially with Charlie’s growing suspicions and jealousies. When misunderstandings surface, Addie’s worst fears come to fruition. Desperate and alone, she is faced with a choice: try to find her own happy ending, or fight to make Charlie a part of hers.

Wonderful!

I'll admit after investing so much emotion in WANTED I was almost afraid to read this sequel (my experience with sequels haven't been great), but this read didn't disappoint. I am in awe of everything Addie and Charlie went through and I am truly amazed by the away Amanda Lance had the ability to make me cry one minute then laugh the next. I'll definitely be reading these books again and recommending them to anyone looking for a good read.

An intense love story where the emotion and angst jump right off the page. Like the first book, the characters were engaging and loveable and the plot suspenseful.
I hope there will be another book! I'm already daydreaming of the possibilities.

With this sequel we see some of the more realistic problems with the dynamics of Charlie and Addie’s relationship which adds some interesting realism to the book. This one is also filled with some heart-wrenching, tear jerking moments that had me choking up a little, but the Charlie moments more than made up for it!

This was just what I was in the mood for: a swoony romance with lots of drama and a charming alpha male. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

A wonderful finish to the 2 book series which started with "Wanted." Conviction starts with our feisty, 17-year old heroine returning to California to start college and be near her secret love (and abductor) Charlie (who is in his late 20's). They are trying to hang on to their clandestine relationship even while his "gang" still participates in very illegal activities.

They love each other desperately (even to the point that their waiting until she's 18 to consummate their relationship falls by the wayside-- but beware all steam in this book happens off screen, only discussed. Nothing erotic about this book). But, with Charlie's hard life and years in prison he is easily swayed when jealousy rears its ugly head and even his own gang members suspect Addie of turning them into the cops. Charlie ends up in jail and both he and Addie are heartbroken being torn apart. Everyone that reads my reviews know how it ends, because I don't read a book that ends otherwise, but I'll keep the suspense so you can read it for yourself.

The only flaw in Wanted #2, "Conviction" is that there are a few unanswered questions brought up that were never answered. Also, from time to time it was difficult to tell who was actually doing the speaking. But, basically this is a story of Charlie's and Addie's love, started in "Wanted" and finished in "Conviction." Be still my heart.

It was an amazing conclusion for the wanted series. When i read the book blurb i thought that after Addie would go to college she would be preoccupied with other things so she wouldn't have time for Charlie and as a result their relationship would fall apart, but fortunately nothing like that sort of thing happened.

Not only their feelings were still pretty strong but there was even some suspense and action which makes the reader have that feeling of danger i so much enjoyed in the first book.

The only thing that i thought was wrong with this book is the fact that some of the things Charlie did in order to protect Addie were extreme!! I think they were unrealistic.

Other than that the story was pretty good and i loved the way the series ended.

I loved the Shakespeare tie-in and the development of everyone from the last book. As hoped, the romance was swoon-tastic and Charlie was just as charming as ever.

I really loved book one and looked forward to the next chapter in Addie and Charlie's lives and how they could end up together while avoiding prison, cops, and her family. However, I was a bit disappointed with this one.

I decided I should write a review to express my feelings about the book and what do I see? Ten people gave this a 5 star rating and 1 person gave it a 4 star rating. So I'm sitting wondering: WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH ME? How is it that I wasn't all that impressed this time around? Sigh...

Forewarning: May contain a few tidbits that could be considered spoilers and a bit of a rant.

There were too many issues for me this time around. There were no breaks between scenes in the story. One minute the characters are in one place and doing something or talking and the next paragraph they are completely some where new and talking to other people. I looked back to book one and noticed Ms Lance did an excellent job with breaks in the scenes so it was not confusing when something new happened. You knew it was a time change and scene change.

The next thing that bothered me was the fact that Charlie and Addie didn't read the same to me as they did in book one. I went back and read parts of book one, and noticed that they just didn't seem like the same characters. Addie was immature yet a lot smarter in book one. In book two I didn't like how she kept so much from Charlie and didn't act smart. She surprised me by wanting to hurt herself physically in this book as well. There's also a scene when there's a mystery guy and one of Ben Walden's acquaintances acting funny at his house yet does she tell them? NO! UMM HELLO!!! They were suspicious, why didn't she open her mouth? She has an "epiphany" much much later in the book about this scene. If you are suspicious enough to get the heck away from the strange guy, why don't you tell someone?

Then there is Charlie. In book one he is not super bright, a bit childish and immature at times could get jealous however, I liked how his character read off the pages. In book 2? Well, he was crazy with jealousy, untrustworthy of Addie, kept secrets, went crazy instead of talking to her and his violent temper was just too much then I had remembered last time around. He also would laugh a LOT at the most inopportune times and was a double standard kind of guy. That's not the Charlie I grew to love in book one. Oh...and I didn't feel like Charlie was always around for Addie. We never really knew what he was up to. He also didn't seem that concerned for Addie or her safety to me. If he was, it wasn't portrayed well.

There is also the "friendship" with Elise that is never explained to her father. She's been home-schooled her whole life. Then she's kidnapped. When and how does she befriend a woman in California and no one questions her on it? Doesn't sit right for me. Also, at one point the guys want the person who ratted them out. That's never brought to light either.

All in all, the story was full of holes, lies, tempers and jealousies.

4.5 THRILLING STARS!

Wow, what an exciting story!

description

The impossible romance between Addie and Charlie continues in Conviction but with many new challenges and yet more fearless than ever.

After running away from the kidnapping episode that brought them together, Addie and Charlie are finally able to enjoy each other. However, things aren't as easy for them since Charlie is still a wanted criminal and Addie has to keep their relationship a secret from everybody to protect him.

Later, some tension and secrecy start to develop between them when one assignment of Charlie's crew is put in jeopardy. Also, the constant interference of an FBI agent raises questions of trust which puts Addie in great danger. That's when Charlie is forced to make some extreme decisions to ensure Addie's safety but at the same time knowing that he may have to give her up forever.

I loved the action, suspense, tension, and drama in this story but mostly I loved to see Addie and Charlie's relationship grow so strongly.♥

Again, Addie amazed me with her level of matureness and determination. She was definitely a girl that knew exactly what she wanted and wasn't afraid to fight for it. At the same time I was really touched to see the vulnerable side of her. In her toughest times her agony was palpable and I really hurt with her. Furthermore, her devotion and love for Charlie were truly inspiring.

Charlie became even more humble than ever in my eyes. His constant doubting of being worthy of Addie's love was both sweet and romantic. The level of affliction that he was put through in the story was heartbreaking and yet, I loved that everything he suffered was for the ultimate purpose to protect his Addie. He was a true hero!♥

I loved this story for it's suspense, emotional intensity, and the characters' love for each other. I totally recommend it!

AN AWESOME READ!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, Wanted, and I'm so glad that Conviction was just as good. This book didn't quit have as much Charlie as the first, but I loved all the Charlie we did get. He is so deeply in love with Addie! They go through so much to be together. Their love, although formed under unusual circumstances, is so strong and vibrates from the pages. Both love each other with such intense emotions, and neither can hardly live without the other. Then just when everything is going good, it's all turned upside down. The FBI agent Adam is around again, there's a break in at Addie's dorm, Charlie is back on the news again and then everyone is missing. You'll be kept on the edge of your seat anticipating what's going to happen. I truly loved Charlie. Something about his character just pulls me in. Maybe it's how fierce and unabashedly he loves Addy. There is no doubt in anyone's mind how strong his feelings are or to what lengths he'd go to protect and keep her safe. Even from the very beginning in the first book when they have just kidnapped her, he wanted her safe. Rare deep love for sure. Addy's love took a little longer for her to put words to, but she felt it as well. Love happy endings. Good book you'll enjoy. Great for teen aged readers.

This book had me at the end of my seat the whole time I read it. I was so involved in it I became more worried about Charlie's and Addie's problems than my own.

Relationship struggles, death, and jealousy all can make a book good but you have to put them together like Amanda did to make this book amazing! I loved this book definately and recommend it a thousand times over.

Conviction is a great read. Featuring the same loveable characters from WANTED, there are a lot of funny/sweet moments, and some angst filled ones as well. I won’t say much more for spoilers sake, but the extra *spice* was also very nice!

I thought the first book in this series, Wanted, was a decent read, but this book was just absurd to me. The writing was ok, so I gave it two stars but the premise was ridiculous.

Addie has figured out a way to be with Charlie. She goes away to college in California to be near him and so that her Dad and brother won't know. Before she leaves, she strikes up a friendship with Adam, the FBI agent that is assigned to her case. She decides to keep in touch with him (HUH?). Charlie hates this idea, not because he's FBI (which would make sense), but because he thinks Adam is interested in Addie. (Again, HUH?)

Addie seemed annoyed by her Dad and brother contacting her and wanted to cut all ties with them so they wouldn't ask questions she didn't want to answer. Addie has delusions of introducing Charlie to her Dad and brother and them accepting him. She also is so worried about their relationship and how Charlie feels all the time. Meantime, Charlie seems even more volatile (and dimwitted) in this book and again I don't get the connection.

Overall I started skimming about 50% into it because I just wanted it over and I was actually hoping she would wake up and run away and meet someone decent to be with. The ending was just way to unbelievable for me. I won't be reading any other books from this author.

I have mixed feelings towards this book. Some parts of it I liked and other parts not so much. I think the low rating is mainly due to my opinion of the characters and how they've changed since the first book.

My Rating: 3.75 stars

So, let's discuss the characters.

My Problems with Addie: Well, it's not surprising that I had a couple of problems with Addie in this book. In Wanted, I found her to be very childish at times as well as slightly annoying. Well, this book was no different. I understand that the story is mostly based around her and Charlie's relationship, but the girl had a one-track mind. Charlie became everything to her. She didn't know how to balance her relationship and her regular life.
The Problems:
1.As mentioned before, Charlie became her everything, to the point that without him she felt she couldn't function.
2. I know that forgiving someone is the right thing to do, but she forgave Charlie a little too easily, in my opinion.
3. I felt so sorry for her brother and her father, they were so out of the loop about everything.

My Problems with Charlie: I really hate the fact that Charlie seemed really unlikable in this book. I adored him in the first one!
The Problems:
1. He loves Addie, and yet he doesn't trust her.
2.Charlie's anger issues.
3. He's too impulsive.

The other characters: Are they even worth mentioning? They didn't really play a huge part in this book as the first.
Polo: I still love Polo, even though they treat him like crap :/
Yuri: He started to grow on me.
Ben: Eh. I'm just glad he came to his senses in the end.
Elise: I still adore her. I think her and Addie will have a great relationship.
Tyler: So adorable!!
And as for Reid:
description
Yep. That pretty much sums it up!

What I liked about this book: I know that so far, this seems like a negative review, but there were some things I liked about this book. For one, I absolutely loved that there were some action scenes this time around. I'm talking about Addie learning how to fire a gun and having to put her newly learned skill to use. Also, it might seemed like I was completely annoyed with Addie and Charlie, but there were times when I found them to be cute. Charlie can be romantic at times, but I just hated when they both took things too far and talked about dying for one another. I understand dedication but at times it was just too much.

Overall: I think it's safe to say that I liked Wanted better than this book. I think the reason why I liked the first book better is because of the idea someone falling for the person who kidnapped them. It completely baffled me. Not to mention that it wasn't the kind of book I usually read. Even though, I wasn't a huge fan of this book, I still am open to reading more from this author.

Conviction is the follow up to Wanted and overall it was an easy, quick read with a satisfying conclusion.

I was rather surprised that there was no sex, like absolutely none at all; especially as this is such a character driven story. Usually I'm complaining that there is too much sex with under-developed characters that I'm not invested in and therefore find the sex-fest boring. But in this case, I like Addie and Charlie. I've had an entire book (Wanted) to get to know them and to invest in their romance. Intimacy seemed an opportunity to further explore their relationship and connection to each other. First Charlie insists they wait until Addie turns 18...which I found both unrealistic and ridiculous in terms of what difference does a few weeks make - but I understand this is an effort to point out what a good guy Charlie is in juxtaposition to his being a career criminal who is 12 years older than the under-age heroine. But still, the fact that Conviction is a squeaky clean rated G tale (as is Wanted) was a disappointment. Actually in all fairness, there was some sex. Here it is in it's entirety:
"Charlie?"
He gulped, his heart throbbing a million miles a minute. "Hmm?"
"Don't make me wait anymore".
We connected then, reborn and baptized in one another.

Alrighty then.

The other disappointment was Addie's character. Being an older reader, and having her be 17 was difficult; but in Wanted she came across as very mature for her age. I don't know why but she seemed to lose that maturity in Conviction. A good portion of the conflict was her decision to remain "friends" with the FBI agent who worked her case. She made a big point of insisting that she would not be one of those females who allowed their boyfriend to dictate their friends. And all I could think was that "If your boyfriend is a career criminal wanted by the FBI and you think remaining "friends" with the FBI agent who would love nothing more than to nail him to the wall is a good idea...then Charlie really ought to be in charge of picking your friends"!!! Charlie of course thought this friendship was a horrible idea, and I thought to myself "Ah the voice of reason". But no. Charlie thought it was a horrible idea, not for the obvious plain as day logical reasons. He thought it was a bad idea because he was convinced the FBI agent was romantically interested in his underage girlfriend and was jealous. At this point I was banging my head on the kindle, wondering how Ben Walden could have left these 2 crazy kids without adult supervision.

And thus because of jealousy and immaturity and lack of communication chaos ensues and we are treated to several chapters of teenaged angst. I seriously could have done without the black parasites melodrama.

So in summary, I did actually like Convicted because I really liked the premise of the story. I'm critical because I think it could have been really intense and instead was only sort of lukewarm.

Conviction picks up quickly after where Wanted left off. First, let me say how wonderful it is that this is a two-part book and not a trilogy. I loved that we get an ending by the time this one is over, though I won't say whether it is a HEA or not. But I love that it ends and it was completely satisfying.

As for the story, the plot and twists this time around are completely different. The author really pulled some great punches in there and made me flip my pages eagerly awaiting what would happen next. There were several surprises that I didn't see coming, and several moments where I wanted to shake the characters. Charlie and Addie's relationship is not easy or uncomplicated. There is just too much at risk to be comfortable. And even though Charlie is much older than Addie, they both have a certain immaturity when it comes to a relationship, and that places them in situations that simple communication could solve, but jealousies and fears prevent. But in spite of all the craziness, I could feel Addie and Charlie's love pouring over the pages. There was such a genuine beauty to their relationship, and I couldn't help but root for them despite my concerns and worries. This made for truly great reading.

I continued to love all the other characters as well. It was such a great mix and everyone really added to the story. Makes me curious if we'll see more of any of them in any spin-off books. Regardless, I loved the role that each character, good and bad, played in this book, and thought the author really coiled their stories well.

My negatives were there were a few plot-holes that left me wondering and scratching my head. But I will say that, though they were noticeable to me, they didn't ruin the books for me. Just a slight distraction.

Overall, I truly enjoyed reading this series. I was impressed by the multi-dimensional and engaging characters and the suspenseful and intriguing plot. And by the end, I was completely in love with Charlie and Addie. They are a couple that I won't forget. This is also a fairly clean New Adult series, which is welcome in a genre that tends to be more explicit, giving readers of this age more options. I look forward to more books from this author.

This series was the perfect light and fluffy read that I needed after reading the Love me With Lies SeriesThe Opportunist and Arsen Arsen: A Broken Love Story

This is the 2nd book in the series and continuation of their journey.

I can never pass up a kidnapping story and this series did not disappoint. When Addie first met Charlie in line for coffee she was immediately drawn to him. But he quickly disappeared and she thought she would never see him again. But unbeknownst to her a few minutes later she would stumble upon a robbery gone wrong and be kidnapped by him.

I also love a damsel in distress and Charlie had to continually save Addie.

But I did have one major issue with was how she treated her dad and brother. She was all they had and I don't think I would have been able to put my family through all that pain/worrying and still give my heart completely to someone else. My guilt would have been too great

For anyone looking for clean romance this would be one of them. Though situations were implied and it was all PG rated. Though I wish I could have felt what their first time was like but oh well.

reviewed by Iva for Kota's Book Kollection

"The book is once again told from Addie's perspective, though she seems more melodramatic in the latter stages of the book and she isn't as quick witted as she was in Wanted. Her persistent lying and withholding of information is annoying considering the honesty she displayed in Wanted and the honesty she expects from Charlie during Conviction.

Charlie is perhaps more consistent in character in regards to the first book, but I don't believe the author achieved the overbearingly protective boyfriend she was hoping for. Addie seems to be searching for him a lot more than he is looking for her, and he relies on others to "fetch" her for him at times when it would have had more impact if he had gone himself.

The writing in Conviction is also a little less than it was in Wanted, with several scene changes and time lapses occurring with nothing other than a full stop between the last scene and the next. It completely ruins the flow of the story as the reader re-reads passages trying to work out what they missed." ~ Iva

I think this is the most emotionally engaging book I've read that has no sex at all. Kissing passionately, but no sex. I was a little frustrated throughout book two of this story by some very poor and naïve decisions on the part of the heroine, despite her above average intelligence. Some of her unrealistic plans for the future didn't ring true to me. That, combined with more editing and grammatical issues dropped this book down to three stars for me.

Despite the weaknesses, the entire cast of characters are interesting and well developed. The story maintains its intensity and compels you to keep reading just to find out how it will all be wrapped up. Despite my disappointment with some of the editing and frustration with the early part of the plot, I still recommend the book for fans of book one (which I definitely am.)

It was good a follow up to the first book. We got to see "what happens next" between Charlie and Addie after the whole kidnapping thing and falling in love thing. It was kind of obvious, due to the title, that someone was going to jail which really sucked because I didn't want him to go to jail- I won't tell you who though. I do wish it was told in both Addie's and Charlie's POV. Anyways it was a good ending- I do love a happy ending, even though everything that happened wasn't intirely legal. If you're looking for some crime, romance, and near death experiences then look no further, but you might want to read the first book before reading this one. >_<

Rollercoaster ride!

So, book 2 "Conviction" has plenty of action! Addie and Charlies story continues as she attends school in California close to Charlie and his crew.

However, nothing is ever THAT straight forward in fiction land! Readers go on a journey with Addie, where yet again things go crazy!

Reid causes mayhem, Charlie and Addie again lose one another and there is a trusted source selling them out to another gang!

After reading the first book "Wanted" I totally fell in love the Charlie and Addie and their romantic-love at first sight of love. But "Conviction" even made it better.

I adore POLO he is freaking hilarious!!! Tyler is just the cutest of all and Reid...Grumpy... jumping to conclusions...

This is a clean romance with lots of emotional feelings.

I would definitely recommend this book, but mind ya read the first installment first..

I have to say Amanda Lance tolly blew my mind in this series. I love the whole police chasing kidnapping falling in love story line and man Charlie Hays sexy in a rebel way. I liked that no matter what was happening Addie never stopped believing in Charlie. This is one series you don`t want to miss. Amanda Lance totally pulled me in with the bad boy rebel trying to make good in his life and the woman that stays by his side through thick and thin.

This was a character driven story with a great combination of action, adventure and romance.
You could really read the author's love for Shakespeare in this novel so my fellow English majors will appreciate that. The sex was a little too clean for my taste, but I understand why some people like that.

Holy heart attack batman! I could not but this one dow. This has quickly become a favorite series of mine. Ms. Amanda Lance managed to hold the suspense all the way through this book and I loved it. I love these character, Polo is a favorite. And the way she manages to keep it pretty clean is surprising to me and a welcome change from most books. Can not wait to read the next one.
