As a senior editor at "Women Now" magazine, beautiful and talented Laurel Imperiole has a life most thirty-somethings would kill for.
When she responds to a series of frantic e-mails from a reader who’s learned that her fiancé may be using several fake identities, she sets off a chain of events that topples her once-secure world.
Teaming up with Helen McCorkendale, a veteran private detective, the women delve into the subject of hidden identity and come up with more than they bargained for.

Laurel is a reporter for Women Now a New york Magazine. She has recieved a series of emails from Annie Ellsworth she is in fear for her life, she has just discovered her fiance is not who he claims to be he has several alias and she is afraid of what he will do if he finds out she knows . Laurel empathizes with Anne, and she sees a great opportunity to rescue her and also write a story on hidden identities. Helen Mc Corkendale is a private eye and close friend of Laurels she agrees to investigate both Annies fiance David and Laurels banker boy friend Matt. She had planned to use Matt as the good guy in the story- but now Matt is acting strange and making Laurel paranoid. Soon Helen and Laurel realize they have stirred up a hornets nest, with vengeful Mafiosi, greedy bankers and dirty politicions. Aaron Gerrard Laurels ex agrees to help. They soon find everything is connected. Will they survive or have they sealed their fates? A real thrill ride of a read.I look forward to reading more books by Cathi Stoler.
From the very start of this contemporary New York mystery, female leads Laurel and Helen uncover, reveal and immerse us readers in "secrets"... some good, some bad, and all involving identity theft, greedy bankers and dirty politicians. Weaving romances just as colorful as the mysteries unraveled, and just as satisfyingly resolved. I loved the storyline, as well how Ms. Stoler interconnected the characters in such a believable, spellbinding, I-can't-put-this-book-down way. Such a great read, I highly recommend it!
It was ok. I really don't love when characters constantly do things that they are unsure of or know will cause problems with/for the people they "love". Laurel and Helen both tend to make their little plans and not involve each other or their loved ones, even when they are involved. Laurel likes maybe even loves Aaron, but still lies to him and does things that she knows will push him away, yes he is overprotective, but still...... It was just ok for me.
Strange e-mails, the modern equivalent of a cry in the night, kick off a carefully interwoven web of lies. The Manhattan of trendy restaurants and upscale clubs is accurately rendered. With Laurel and Helen using all their wits to survive, Keeping Secrets keeps you turning pages.
