Babet & Prosper, Collection II

Rate this book
This collection includes the second part of the Babet & Prosper series: the previously published novellas Beware the Bogeyman and Celt Secrets, as well as two new novellas: The Trouble With Voodoo and A Friend in Need.

Tourists flock to River City to eat beignets and sip hurricanes from plastic glasses. They bump shoulders with vampires and succubi and visit voodoo shops on Magic Avenue.
But not all is as fun and carefree as River City's party atmosphere suggests. Babet Spellbound uses her magic to help Detective Prosper Blade--a bear shifter--and his partner, Hatchet--a man of many mysteries--solve supernatural crimes.

USA Today best-selling author for The Body in the Attic, as Judi Lynn. I first published writing urban fantasy as Judith Post, but when I switched to writing romances and mysteries, I used the pen name Judi Lynn. I live in Indiana, and the Midwest is often the setting for my books. I love it here! When we got married, my husband and I bought a 1920 small bungalow, and we've never moved. It needed lots of work. We're still working on it. That's where I got the idea for a fixer-upper mystery series. I love to cook, so food sneaks into most of my stories. I include two or three recipes at the end of my Jazzi mysteries.

BABET & PROSPER COLLECTION 2 by Judith Post was given to me in ebook format by the author, free of charge in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This collection contains four novellas in Babet & Prosper Collection.

Babet is a witch and Prosper is a were-bear whose day job is as a police detective for River City.

River City is a fictional place where supernatural beings of many kinds live side by side with "normal" humans. The supernatural is not hidden from the general population and the police even have a special supernatural division.

There are witches, vampires, were animals, voodoo priestesses, druids, incubus, succubus, juju magic practitioners and even demons.

Even though these are novellas and not full length books, the author manages to pack a lot of story into a small number of pages. It never feels like the plot is moving too fast and scenes do not feel as though they have been shortened for length. It takes talent to achieve such wonderfully balanced writing.

Now that I am eight novellas into Babet and Prosper's lives, I am invested in the characters and can't wait to see what type of situation they will encounter next.

I also live the fact that the stories are not just about Babet and Prosper. Hatchet and Colleen are another intriguing couple and Babet's parents are interesting as well.

If you like supernatural/paranormal intrigue with a dash of romance these books are for you.

I rate this collection ad 5 out of 5 stars.

I received these stories from the author in exchange for an honest review. I loved these just as much as the first collection, maybe more now that I am attached to the characters. There are all kinds of magic in Magic City. Some good, some not so good. Babet and Prosper fight supernatural crime with the help of many friends. I highly recommend these stories to anyone that likes urban fantasy and paranormal.
