Jennifer Chance unleashes her hot new series with the tale of a smoldering rocker and the fangirl who catches his eye—and finds herself living out her wildest dreams.

Lacey Dawes is a total pro at the talent agency where she works, and it doesn’t hurt that IMO Worldwide Media represents Dante Falcone. The rock god has starred in her fantasies since she was sixteen—and remains her secret crush to this day. So when Dante picks her to be the interim manager on his Dream It tour, Lacey can’t believe her luck. Handling Dante is sure to be the most exquisite, spine-tingling, nerve-wracking mix of business and pleasure ever.

Although Dante is grateful for the adoring fans who scream for one more of his full-throttle, soul-searing songs, being surrounded by a cadre of corporate types backstage is wearing thin. Then Lacey shows up. Yeah, she’s organized, smart, quick to get him what he wants before he knows he wants it—but Dante senses there’s something else going on with sweet, sexy Lacey. One kiss tells him what that “something” might be . . . and makes him hungry for more.

2.5...could have been a 3
Full review to post on Netgalley and www.thewindowseat13.com

Im just gonna sum it up here and basically say sometimes the cover sucks me in! This was definitely lacking in the story department.

Quick overview, Lacey has been infatuation with Dante Falcone her whole life...I mean obsessed, in love, in lust! All grown up and working for a company puts her on his promo tour as his "manager." Dante is super...genuinely sweet, emotional, and he lacks "bad boy" rock star qualities. He is completely likeable and he thinks Lacey is different, hiding something....YES, um she is kinda a lovestruck stalker!

Long story short, there is no drama, no angst, no badness. Just Lacy getting embarrassed over her love fest for Dante becoming public, he takes it in stride, she focuses on her career, and BOOM...he cant live without her! WHAT??? Why? she hasn't done anything but stare at you, have aggressive flirtation and simulated sex all while living out a fantasy in her head! You think she is different? Nope she is like every other groupie on your tour, she just knows you better because she has paid attention for 7 years! I never felt any emotion from this girl other than infatuation. For a rock star looking for someone real, i dont understand how this girl was it!

Oh well, y'all can read and enjoy, form your own opinion. There not a single thing wrong with Dante Falcone other than he loves a girl for fangirling him! This is sweet romance in a dirty world, lol! For me, I am jaded, when I see rock stars, I want bad boys, I want a good juicy story...

"Rock It" was just OK for me.
The story didn't grab me.
I'm usually a sucker for a story about a hot Rock God, but Dante never had me swooning.
Believe me this is hard to do when it comes to me!!
I'm always falling in love with the leading male of the story.

I just didn't feel a connection to Lacey or Dante.

Lacey is starting a new job for what I'm thinking is an agency that represents famous people. See I wasn't super sure exactly what her job was!!!

Her first assignment involves Dante Falcone.
The object of her desires since she was a pre-teen.
This girl has been to hundreds of his concerts, and has 15 scrap books created for her obsession.

This is a Dream Come True for her.

It seems right from the start, as soon as Dante sets eyes on her, he is infatuated.

Was weird for me.
This gal is crazy bananas for him for so long but he's the pursuer in this story??

The sex was kind of hot but never lasted too long.
I needed a little more!! LOL

The story just never really succeeded in reeling me in.

Oh god this book.

There was a lot this:

A lot of this:

So the book started pretty well. Lacey is a huge fan (stalker obsessed) of Dante Falcone. She made scrapbooks about his life and career (fifteen of them!!). She's almost virginal, which was so *yawn*. She'd had sex before but she was uncomfortable with oral and just generally fairly innocent. There's nothing about Lacey that made me care about her at all. She's pretty vapid and shallow really. Dante however, is just a really nice guy. When we're in his POV the book is much much better. He's interesting and forgiving about everyone around him.

Okay so rant time:

1. Dante doesn't just play rock music. He sneaks away to play Blues and Gospel. This makes him so much more of a real musician than just a rock star. This infuriated me. I almost stopped reading. How insulting can you get??? The author and characters just basically put up the idea that rock music takes very little talent, has no meaning, and is not truly an artistic pursuit. OMG know your audience!!!! Those of us who like rocker-romance probably really like rock music! Oh and Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, (I could keep going here) are just talentless hacks because they don't also play Blues, Gospel, or some other soft bullshit. Ok end rant.

2. At some point Lacey decides she needs to get Dante's attention (she already has it by the way; she's just an idiot). So in order to do this she decides to dance under the stage with the groupies in very little clothing. Okay. Now, let me preface this by saying, if she was a sexually liberated woman from the get go and she went down there because she was curious/wanted to have fun or otherwise did it for her own gratification, I'd be cheering her along and thinking HAWT. BUT NO!!!! She does it specifically to get Dante's attention. Did woman's lib not happen at all???

Has she no self-worth or self esteem??? I can't even blame Dante for liking it! He didn't know why she did it only that she looked like she was enjoying herself.

3. Oh! At the beginning she basically admits she's in love with Dante the first day they meet. Because following someone's public career totally means you actually KNOW them. OMG BULLSHIT. How rude and self-indulgent! Wow! I was just screaming "You don't know him at all! You just met for crying out loud!" And THEN

On the up side, the actual writing style was not terrible. There was decent flow and editing. The story was just ridiculous. Also the cover makes you think really hot rocker-romance oh yeah! but in actuality it's a sappy fluffy bit of tripe.

But I kept reading. I also didn't take terribly long to read it. I definitely spent more time than if I actually like a book, but it was engaging enough to keep me going. Also, Dante really was a good character. If it wasn't for his POV, I would have quit this book.

Not recommended for rocker-romance readers... recommended for those who like sappy sweet romances.

It wasn't great nor bad..

The premise was nice, the ultimate fan gets to work with her idol in close proximity and he falls in love with her..
But it's not quite like that.

Their relationship was strained due to Dante's personality.. He had no passion, and he was mostly cold and detached for the biggest part of the book.. At least that's what i felt.. Lacey though is a nice character and very likeable..

Also the characters seemed like they were way older than their age.. Mostly Dante, although that can be explained.. He was a star since a very young age and in his 24 years he lived so much.. But still..

Anyway the story could have gone to so many places but nothing really happened.. The author initiates plots but doesn't dive into them.. That was a shame..
no pun intended

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- Brenda is such a bitch..
- Anna is a great friend, i liked her so much..
- I can see a series about those four girls..
- I can't really connect Lacey's personality with what she did in the party.. That was fun..
- I liked Harry..
- The end was nice..

Sadly, I have to say that this book just wasn’t for me. I tried to get into it, but there were just too many things I disliked as the book progressed...
I got to 60% before admitting defeat, and as such I will only post my reasons as to why –

• I really got the fact that Lacey was working with her teen idol, but after the first 100 or so fan-girling internal monologues about it, it got a bit repetitive.

• The constant, “we shouldn’t” but hell I’m going to anyways with Lacey, all got a bit monotonous as well.

• Up-to 57% the sexy times amounted to hand-jobs and giving oral, being that this man is apparently a “Rock God” that has women hanging off him wherever he goes, and under the stage sex parties mid-concert, I found it a little hard to believe that he would then revert back to teenage fumbling for so long...

• The full use of Dante Falcone, also became very repetitive (69 times according to my Kindle).

• I also felt absolutely no connection to either of the characters, and in the main the writing and dialogues to me seemed a little dated (I had Rock of Ages in my head the whole time), I felt like I had warped back to my Sweet Dreams and Sweet Valley High reading days.

There were things I liked, the “Spiked” champagne incident bought a few chuckles, and at the beginning I could empathise with Lacey, as let’s face it who hasn’t dreamed of meeting and spending time with their idol. Also, getting one over on her boss Brenda “The Barracuda” Harris, by being the person Dante wanted to work with made me smile too.

I do think this series has potential, but the dialogue and sex(ual chemisty) between the H/h needs to be spiced up a-lot, and made to feel more current/up-to-date.

I liked this book, but I can't say I loved it.

I had a hard time connecting with the H/h until about the 50% mark. I almost put this book down and marked it as a DNF at this point, but figured I give it one more chapter. It was a good thing I did read that one more chapter (isn't that what all obsessive readers say at 2 am?) because that was when things started to pick up, and the story finally peeked my interest.

The characters were good and I liked the 'dreams come true' story line, but I think this is a book you either "like it" or "hate it".
I'm kinda on the fence here, because there were parts I liked and other parts that were just 'mheh'.

What brought this book up to a 3 star rating was the ending. The author tied everything up quite nicely, and it was a win-win for everybody.

I like it when I pick out a book to read on my TBR list and it is an author I have never read before. I like it because there are jewels and gems waiting to be discovered. This is one of those books. And I will look forward to more in this series to come as well as other books from this author.

Dante Falcone is a rock star. He has been since the age of 14. He knows this life well. He knows not
to get to close and never to love.

Lacey Dawes is a super fan of mega proportions. She has 15 scrapbooks to prove her dedication, love, and admiration for Dante. Lacey has followed him since the very first show of Battle of the Bands when he was 14 years old.

Lacey Dawes has a new career as a junior agent at IMO and now has the opportunity to work on Dante's campaign. Of course her boss Brenda is a complete WITCH but she tolerates her with a smile because that is what Lacey does. She is completely professional.

When Dante walks into the meeting with IMO without his manager which he just fired a couple of days ago he knows he has seen Lacey somewhere before. He could swear she was at his concert the night before but she looks completely different in a suit and her hair in a bun. Dante knows right away he wants Lacey to be his executive on this 2 week promotional tour, he knows after the tour he wants her to be his manager, and he knows he wants her in his bed. Now, he needs to know how to make all of that happen.

Dante tells IMO he wants Lacey on the tour with him and not Brenda. Brenda is shocked and very angry that she is dismissed so easily. After all her hard work put most of his sponsors together. So after reluctantly agreeing, because Dante is insistent, she agrees that Lacey can do the tour. Of course, Lacey will fail and call Brenda in to take over. At least that is what Brenda tells Lacey what will happen. When things don't go Brenda's way she sabotages Lacey to get her removed from the tour but Dante has had a taste of Lacey and he is not letting her go.

Dante agrees to help Lacey out of the mess Brenda has put her in by going along with a crazy stunt to put the focus back on the tour and Dante's band. Things go pretty well with the plan and Brenda is upset that her plan failed to remove Lacey. Now Lacey's future with IMO is in jeopardy and she only has a few more days with the tour. Dante is falling for Lacey hard and fast and he believes that Lacey loves him as well but she is guarded and unsure of herself and her future.

I love Lacey's character. She battles within herself all the fantasies of Dante that she has had since she was 16 years old. She tries to be the professional executive and not lose her cool but her professional mask keeps slipping out of place to be replaced by the teen girl she once was with all the fantasies of being naked with Dante Falcone. This goes on for several days with slips here and there in Dante's presents. And I like the way that Dante is intrigued by what he sees slipping through that reserved professional mask. I like that Dante wants to figure Lacey out and knows there is more to her story than just her being assigned to this tour with him. She knows way more than any agency could ever tell her.

The relationship that builds with Dante and Lacey is great. I love the chemistry, sexual frustration, and the wanting to break through the barriers of both of the characters together. I like that Lacey struggles to be who she always has been and to see the man she has always loved right in front of her for her taking. And I like that Dante remembers the letters of a superfan that was always telling him to take care of himself, make sure he got enough sleep, and to keep writing awesome music. I felt Dante's character fall more in love with Lacey the moment he realizes that she is that Fangirl from years ago.

All in all a nice read, not to many conflicts, the story flowed nicely, and not to many grammatical errors.

1 not rockin star.

This book didn't really have much to write about with out it all being spoilers so I'll just keep this short.

No.

Another book bites the dust.
Another book I dove into without reading the reviews.
I have nobody to blame but myself.

And the author.
smh photo: SMH 715guw.gif

Lacey was obsessed with a singer in a boy band.
SO...she did what any of us would do. She grew up and moved on!
yay photo: yay YAY.gif

Sadly that would have been a better book.
Lacey becomes the Disney teenybopper turned hottie rocker's manager.
Incase you haven't guessed, it's a insta-boner book.
No relationship building of any sort, it all takes place in approximately 2 weeks and the sex scenes left me flaccid.
bored photo: bored3_zps78a15744.gif

Dante wants more out of life. He wants to stop whoring himself out to the pop/rock music industry and strive for more. He digs Lacey and finds himself quickly smitten. He wasn't a bad character and I didn't dislike him but I also didn't care for him.
He was kind of boring, left me without much to say one way or another. meh photo: cameron meh tumblr_lom7taXUiy1qgjja6.gif

The writing wasn't terrible but the story and the events that take place were kind of ridiculous. I won't say too much about it but it all seemed a little...Blah.
Would I recommend this book?

I was just about to start typing up my review when I spotted that some reviewers had given this book just two stars. I've just given it five. Did we read the same book? One of them said there was no story, so I'm pretty sure we can't have read the same book.

Lacey has had a crush on her teen idol Dante for years, a massive crush. She sent him over 100 fan letters at one point. And now, through a twist of fate, her company is going to represent him in his upcoming tour and she's a part of the team. Lacey is no longer a teen and has a job she's worked hard for, she won't let a crush get in the way of that, but Dante can be pretty persuasive.

Lacey also has a boss she doesn't respect who is a total bitch. There's a film crew putting everything on YouTube at the end of every concert... Which of course leads to some pretty humiliating moments for Lacey and an opportunity for her bitchy boss to gloat and pull a fast one.

Lacey isn't a pushover though, and when her job is out at risk because her boss pulls a stunt she retaliates. It's brilliant.

Being a bitch of a boss doesn't get you on the roadies good side, Lacey being Lacey has some fans amongst the roadies and they help her with her risqué stunt. It will either secure her job or lose it, the stakes are high.

And of course, through it all she's fighting her attraction to Dante, Rock God - swoon!

It's a fun and light read that doesn't ask to be taken seriously, so lighten up reviewers and just enjoy it, I did.

Have you ever read in people's reviews how they may not have liked a book by an author that they're trying for the first time and they say, "sure, I'd give this author another try"? Have you wondered if they really do? Well, I've put that in my reviews before, and I honestly mean it. However, my TBR is soooo big that I normally don't get back to the author. But with this book, I have fulfilled that statement! I read a later book in this very series and just didn't mesh with the characters. But when I found this on Bridget (that's my Kindle) I figured I would give it a try. I AM SO GLAD I DID!

This is the story of Lacey and Dante. Dante is a huge rock star who started his career on Disney, in a boy band. That kind of star. And Lacey? Lacey was a huge fangirl. Like from the very beginning. But now she's all grown up and has managed to land herself a job at the very company that deals with Dante's sponsors and his publicity and she has stumbled into being his manager/handler for a brief two week tour. She warred with herself over swooning because she's loved him since she was 12 and he's right in front of her and trying to be a professional. I kept imagining myself in Lacey's position. I would have had the same problem.

Some of this was laugh out loud funny. Some was heartbreaking. All of it was a great way to spend the day.

**SPOILERS**

While I enjoyed this book there were too many similarities to "Rock My Heart" by Michelle A. Valentine. The premise is the same...girl loving or crushing on lead singer of a rock band. Guy wants girl...girl wants guy but can't have him without losing her job.
Girl travels with the band on their tour bus. There are some differences in the books and the book is well written. There is a HEA which I love and it's a stand alone book which is also another big plus for me! If I hadn't already read "Rock My Heart" I may have enjoyed this book a little more although the plot was a little better in "Rock My Heart".
Despite the similarities I enjoyed "Rock It". It's an easy read with some mildly steamy sex and a love story with some angst along the way.

2.5 - 3 stars. Cute love story about a total fangirl whose dreams come true - Meeting the man who occupied her heart and mind for years. It isn't everyday a girl gets to meet her crush. The story did not WOW did me, however, it made for a somewhat enjoyable read. A bit slow paced in the beginning, lacking any angst, drama or breathtaking moments. Lacey was a likeable character, but I just could not connect with her. Dante, who manage to keep me interest throughout the story, was sexy but lacked the "bad boy" rocker persona I so crave

Yay! I wanted a love story with a rock band that would pull on my heartstrings and I got it. This story is about that first, big crush that you fall in love with and dream about endlessly. A story about falling in love with the real person that made up all the ridiculous and corny fantasies. I love how Chance kept a fine balance between sharing Lacey's teenage dreams and adult desires. It wasn't too much. It was just right.

When I read a story with music, I pay attention to the way music is described. The way the musician plays, sings and performs. Dante's wish to play music from all of who he is rather than what the company dictates is really great. There's plenty of office and touring drama. A nice mix of laughter, breath stopping sexual encounters, solid friendships and impish dares made real.

I knew how the story would unveil but that didn't matter because it was done well. A tender, bittersweet adventure that made me sigh with happiness at the end. I look forward to seeing what else happens to the other girls in the series.

This review is based on an ARC received for free from NetGalley. I am not being paid to review this book and what I write here is my own opinion. Below is the scale I use in rating books.

brief
A life-long fan of rock star Dante Falcone, Lacey Dawes always thought that she and her idol had a special connection, and when finally she gets chance to work with him closely as his manager it turns out that she was right, which could be an enormous problem for her on a professional level. In this "keep you awake 'til you're done" book, readers discover that sometimes it's okay to break the rules to live the dream.

full review
Full disclosure? I usually rate romance novels somewhere between 2 and 3 stars because I read them to fill up time and because sometimes I enjoy reading about fictional people having adult fun time. they're books I can pick up and put down, read them in five minute increments, or even lose for months at a time without feeling any particular sense of loss. After all, they all follow basically the same plot according to their (increasingly specific) genre. Rock It, however, kept me up until I finished it, which is unusual for any book, let alone a romance novel, and it did it with this crazy gimmick so rarely found in romances: it had an interesting plot and realistic characters.

In other words, I was reading a romance novel because I wanted to see how things would turn out. Guaranteed happy ending aside, I was genuinely curious about how the happy ending would happen. I wanted to know if Lacey's past as an obsessed fan would keep her from seeing Dante for who he really was rather than who she had dreamed he was, and if Dante's colorful past would rear its head and drive Lacey away. I know the pitfalls that lovers in rock star romances tend to succumb to, and I was delighted that Chance found new problems to torture her characters with, and solutions that went beyond love-induced amnesia.

In Rock It readers are introduced to Lacey Dawes, a remarkably young up-and-coming employee at a large corporation where she hopes one day to get out from under the thumb of her vindictive supervisor and manage a minor celebrity-type or two. Her plans are derailed, however, when her firm lands her celebrity crush, rock star Dante Falcone, as a client and he demands to have her assigned to him as his manager, despite her inexperience and low status in the corporate hierarchy.

The connection between them is instant and should be undeniable, but their professional relationship requires both of them to tread carefully - no easy task given the constant media exposure Dante's fame brings him and the continued animosity Lacey's supervisor holds toward her. Over the course of Dante's Dream It tour they are drawn to each other physically and emotionally, discovering that there is far more to their relationship than their obvious roles as talent and manager, star and fan, but there are still obstacles, which I won't get into because they were original enough that I don't want to spoil things.

Suffice it to say, this is a very promising start to Jennifer Chance's Rule Breakers series, and if I am afforded the opportunity to read the next volume, which follows Lacey's friend and roommate Anna, I will absolutely take it.

rating scale
1 star - I was barely able to finish it. I didn't like it.
2 stars - It was okay. I didn't dislike it.
3 stars - I liked it. It was interesting.
4 stars - It was excellent. I really liked it.
5 stars - OMG I WANT TO STALK THIS AUTHOR!

Book provided by Netgalley for an honest review!

Phenominal book, I loved it! Was like reading my daughters dream except in her dream the Disney channel rocker is Ross Lynch and the band R5.

Young twelve year old Lacey Dawes is a super fan she know everything there is to know about Dante Falcone and the dream team, music and Dante are a huge influence in her life through her teen years concert after concert every year , scrap book after scrap book she followed Dante's career through music style changes and band changes.
Lacey love for music drove her through college and the application process in her bid to become amused agent and she is finally a junior agent at her dream firm IMO Well her dream firm because Dante is their number one client!

Lacey is considers herself lucky that she will be able to work with the lead agent Brenda on Dante's new endorsement package and the dreamin it two week tour. Brenda is a real barracuda and she already expects Dante t try and push hoer around to get what he wants but what she is no expecting is Dante demanding the Junior agent as his interim manager or no deal on the endorsement packages that Brenda has spent weeks setting up, they have no choice Lacey is know his agent.
Lacey excited and nervous heads of later to her first meeting with Dante at his hotel to find two scantily clad women in his room and all over Dante ; after he sends them off they sit down to go over contracts but Dante is not making it easy but he is being polite and offers her a drink whic she does except a glass of champagne..... So not a good idea because apparently the two girls spiked it and before Lacey knows it she isso positioning Dante in a ver u professional manner which he is very happy to go along with! Well, that is until she goes from very willing to out cold!

Lacey waks hours later in her own room in her pajamas with Dante sitting with her, confused and with a hangover when the memories start rushing back and she would like to crawl under a rock, well maybe not because Dante is looking at her like he really cares nd touching her with tenderness. Lacey comes to the conclusion maintains her professionalism on this two week bus tour is going to be hard.

Dante, does not get why he is so attracted to the uptight Lacey other than he sees something in her on occasion like she am actually care about him, the real him not the rock star, getting Lacey t loose her composure , let go of the leash becomes a challenge for him and over the course of the tour you find both of them trying to cause the other to loose the tight reign they have on their attraction for one another, well till Brenda shows up and exposes Lacey in the worst possible way as a huge fan and literally puts Lacey's whole career in jeapardy,

I have gone on and on revealing plot line but I stop now! You have t read, was. Wonderful book , great characters, fun storyline and any fangirls dream! Pick this one up to feel young at heart again!

Did you ever have a crush on a rock star growing up? Do you remember having posters, dreaming of meeting him? Did you ever write xxx + ooo in a puffy heart, or Mrs. Ooo xxx? Then you can appreciate how young Lacey obsessed about a young star she saw on television, Dante. Well Dante made it to Rock Star status and Lacey tracked his every move, what he ate, what he liked, didn’t like, and kept scrapbooks about her feelings and his life. She even wrote him letters. A little, okay a lot over the top, some of us have done it, but how many of us have had the chance to work with our idol, day and night, while he was on tour? For Lacey, being close to Dante became a test of her will not to throw herself at him as she played out each fantasy in her head, in vivid, sometimes hysterical detail! As well as a test to prove she can do the job she has been assigned.

Dante plays the Bad Boy for the public, but in reality, he is warm, caring and there is just something about Lacey that draws him like a moth to a flame, but will he get burned? A horrible “reveal” of Lacey’s scrapbooks turns into a fabulous publicity stunt that lays bare their true feelings. The future shows them going their separate ways. Is that for the best?

Rock It by Jennifer Chance is a fun, fresh read that is full of over-the-top hero worship and sizzling emotional and sexual steam. True, much of it is in Lacey’s head, but a girl can dream, can’t she? Ms. Chance has created two completely likable characters, the central focus to the world she has built. Her style is light, airy and never digs too far into the dark side. Lacey will make you laugh, cry and sometimes even creep you out, but Dante is one of the best heroes ever, a few flaws, but truly fan-worthy material.

Kick back, relax and enjoy the ride this fun read will take you on! Don't over-analyze the power of love, just let it rock your world!

Rock It (Rule Breakers #1) by Jennifer Chance

Jennifer Chance has written a story around a young woman who ends up working with her teenage idol, can you imagine what that would have felt like. Jennifer’s writing is good, the story is well written, character descriptions are great…… getting to know each of them you find you either liked them or you don’t ….Jennifer does bring each character to life.

We meet Lacey and Dante, Lacey who is in awe of meeting Dante, and Dante who sees Lacey and decides he wants to get to know her and see what she is made of. So in the meeting he informs the P.R. Company that he wants Lacey to be his interim Manager. Lacey is shocked to say the least and her boss is not happy with this decision, but what Dante wants he gets.

Lacey works hard for Dante and most of the times Dante can be an ass and sometimes I would say a bit cold……. Lacey tries pretty hard to put her crush behind her and do a great job for it is her career on the line. Wait till you get to know Lacey’s boss Brenda (she is a bit*h) and brings some interesting twists to the story.

Rock It (Rule Breakers #1) is fast paced, easy to read and in the end was an enjoyable novel. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series. I enjoyed Jennifer Chance writing and defiantly will be watching to see what else she may write.

I have rate Rock It a 4 star rating.

NOT WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR

I love a good rock star romance. But this fell short for me. There's not much to the plot, I would have liked the story to have had more going on, a bit of angst or something. The characters needed more depth as well. Lacey was a fan/ stalker who gets to work with her obsession in life Dante Falcone. Since she was 16 she'd been obsessed with him, it's now seven years on and she's 23. But for much of the book she became that 16 year old girl again, she was all over the place, one minute full on, upfront and personal with Dante. The next she'd be avoiding him. She works for an agency who are representing Dante, but to be honest it wasn't really clear what she was. I did not really connect with the characters, nor was I getting their connection. It just seemed like a lot of lust on both their parts. But mostly it was the lack of a real story for me.

Four Stars for Rock It by Jennifer Chance
description

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Not many rockstar romances have made it to my TBR list but Rock It and Jennifer Chance has me searching for more titles in this popularly growing sub genre. After reading so many books lately where all the characters seem to be drowning in one tragic circumstance after the next, it was refreshing to read a book you could just sit down, relax, and enjoy. Not that I'm complaining about the darker novels, I'm usually a huge fan. But there are times when one needs the soothing touch of a laid back novel. There's no over-the-top drama, nor is there an overabundance of angst- thankfully! The female lead in this story didn't have a traumatic childhood and her love interest did not have some hidden, forbidden desire. This book's overall theme was simple. Dreams.

"If only you can dream it, it might just come true."

The story starts off with a letter written by a 16 year old girl to her teen idol, Dante. The letter is sweet and is filled with words of adoration and kindness, ending with words of inspiration and dreams. Fast forward 6 years later and we meet Lacey Dawes, a 22 year old junior agent for a leading entertainment rep firm in Boston. She works long hours, has an incredible work ethic, and works for an awful woman Lacey refers to as, "The Barracuda." Standing in a frenzied crowd at an arena in Boston, Lacey tries to keep herself focused and professional. She's on assignment, gathering information about her firm's (IMO) newest and most important client- Dante Falcone. As the night progresses and the throngs of fans get more and more excited, Lacey finds herself shoved roughly through the crowd which causes her long-time idol's gaze to pin her firmly in place. They share a moment and moments later, it's gone.

The very next day, Lacey is sitting in a boardroom with her two bosses and the handsome rock god himself. There to discuss an upcoming 2 week publicity tour, Dante shocks the room with his insistence that Lacey join the tour as his interim manager. The barracuda of course is appalled at this suggestion but she is overruled by the president of the company. Lacey maintains calm and serenity but internally she is struggling with the horror of spending 2 weeks on a tour bus with Dante. She instantly tries to steel herself to keep composure, locking the fangirl tight and away in order to fulfill the demands of her job.

Lacey's plan to keep things as professional as possible hits a major speed bump while attending a private meeting with Dante in his hotel room that same night. After excusing 2 groupies with promises of fun to be had at a later time, Dante causally invites Lacey to partake in the bottle of champagne the 2 eager women had left behind. Hesitantly she accepts but when Dante steps away to take a phone call, Lacey finds herself feeling looser and a little more uninhibited. When Dante steps back, Lacey surprises him with an interesting proposition after he suggests putting off signing contracts at a later time.

description

As things begin to get heated between them, Dante suddenly questions the uptight junior agent's shift in personality. He silently questions how intoxicated she could be after only one glass of champagne. As this last thought pops into his head, he finds himself catching an unconscious Lacey, deducing that the bottle must have been drugged. With anger directed at himself, Dante nurses her to health after personally ensuring she is safely back in her own home.

The rest of the book chronicles the two weeks Lacey and Dante spend together while touring the US eastern seaboard. Lacey constantly fights the urge to throw herself in Dante's arms, fearing that she'll reveal herself as a stalkerish, love-struck groupie. She finds difficulty in separating the needs of her career and the needs that have overtaken her heart and body as she spends more and more time with Dante. For his part, Dante can't seem to figure out the pull Lacey has over him and he too, wages the battle of not getting too close.

Rock It was a nice quick read. It flowed well and kept you engaged. As mentioned there wasn't a lot of melodrama, just a good, clean story about two people trying to find keep their dreams alive. Stories have a way of needing a life and death/do or die moment in order to keep a reader invested in the characters and the outcome of their plights. But there's something to be said about books which allow you to examine your own life and allow yourself to relate completely with the individuals the author creates. Though there isn't really a huge emotional blow-up or catastrophic event, Jennifer Chance does a wonderful job in keeping her readers motivated to stick it out and witness the outcome between her central couple. I like how the overall theme of "the dream" managed to stay steadily throughout the book. The conflicts and resolutions tied nicely together and never became overly complex or muddled. I truly appreciated the sincerity of Ms. Chance's main characters and found comfort in being able to relate to their struggles. There were only a few things which left me a little baffled such as the laced champagne bottle- I had instantly thought Brenda the Barracuda had a hand in causing that event (we never did find out). But this is definitely one I would recommend for those in search of a nice rock star romance with a suitable amount of heat and 2 very likable characters.

4.5-5 stars

This was great story. I really liked both Lacey and Dante and was sucked in by their story from the very beginning. This is the first book I've read by this author but based on this I’m planning to read more of her work.

Lacey is a junior agent at IMO, a company that represents many huge stars. Lacey’s boss, Brenda, has recently secured a new client, Dante Falcone. Lacey is determined to do all she can to impress her boss and be a professional. This is tough for Lacey though because she’s been a MAJOR fan of Dante’s since his first band and has been to 57 of his concerts over his 10 year career.

Dante is a star and has been for 10 years. He won a battle of the bands when he was 14 and signed his first record deal (with parent's permission) when he was 15. His first band was a boy-band called The Dream Team and when that split up; Dante was the only one that managed to have a successful follow-up career. Dante used to be in to the groupies and all that but recently he’s been getting tired of it and is looking for something more (although he's unsure what). He recently fired his manger (with good reason) and it looking for another one. Dante has signed with a new agency, IMO, and is hoping they can provide him with a temporary manager for the rest of his tour.

Lacey goes to Dante’s concert the day before he has a big meeting with their firm. They have a “moment” when he sees her from the stage and they make a connection but don’t see each other again until the next day. When Dante shows up for the meeting the next day, he realizes very quickly that he doesn't want Lacey’s boss, Brenda, to take over as his new manger. He spots Lacey and it takes a bit but he does recognize her from the concert. He makes some agreements but asks for Lacey as his manger (which Brenda is not happy about) which puts Lacey in a tough spot. Lacey is stuck either failing big time on her first venture and possibly losing her job or succeeding and hopefully getting a promotion so Brenda won’t be able to find a way to fire her. Dante demands that Lacey take Brenda’s place at a meeting at his hotel, later that evening and not having much of a choice, Lacey agrees. She’s pretty sure that Dante chose her because he thinks she’ll be easily manipulated, since she’s pretty sure he realizes she’s attracted to him. Lacey shows up for the meeting prepared to be professional but when she accidentally ingests some drugged Champaign, things get a little out of hand as she propositions Dante in order to get the contracts signed. The contracts get signed but Dante soon realizes that Lacey had drunk something intended for him and in that drugged state he could have been filmed doing anything (which they wind up believing was the intent). She took a metaphorical bullet for him and Dante decided he was going to fully demonstrate his appreciation. Dante calls a doctor for Lacey and once he’s assured she’ll be okay, he takes her home and makes sure she wakes up feeling alright.

It's a busy week before they see each other again and Lacey has been swamped by Brenda's demands and getting prepared for the trip. Dante is flirty with Lacey when they start out and her being on his tour bus didn't help things when she's trying to be professional. There's a strong attraction between them and Dante wonders how much is celebrity appreciation and Lacey wanting a little bit of the fantasy (which he gets a lot) and how much of her sees the man underneath. As the 2 weeks begins, Lacey and Dante start to get to know each other and there is some physical interaction between them, just enough to keep things sexy but still be building the emotions and the tension between them. Lacey savors every bit of time she gets with Dante but worries about her professionalism and doesn't let her guard down very easily. Dante and Lacey get closer still when she catches a secret performance that shows a new (or maybe old) influence to Dante's music, something deeper and better than his current type of music that's aimed more at the masses. Their escalating emotions are brought to a screeching halt when Brenda makes a visit and proceeds to use Lacey's old scrap books (which she mistakenly left hidden in her desk at work) to humiliate her publicly via you-tube videos. Lacey is left scrambling to save her career and Dante does what he cant to help. Dante and Lacey become even closer but, because of everything that's going on, what's true and what's not isn't as clear anymore. With some help, Lacey is able to salvage things so her career is stronger than ever. Things aren't looking as good in the personal area and both Lacey and Dante are hurting until Dante makes Lacey an offer she can't (and doesn't want to) refuse, both professionally and emotionally and the story ends in a sweet and satisfying HEA.

I really enjoyed this story, a lot! Dante and Lacey are both great characters...they're likable and believable, both having their own doubts and issues but able to pull it together in the end for the one they love. The story itself had enough going on that it was never boring and kept me engaged until the end. I fully intend to read the next book in the series. I'd recommend this book. 2 thumbs up! :D

ROCK IT by Jennifer Chance was a really fun book to read! I'm always so happy when I pick up a book from an author I've never read before and absolutely love it! Ms. Chance's writing was well-paced, humorous, had a great storyline, steamy, steamy well-written chemistry between the Dante and Lacey, and sigh worthy declarations of love at the end. This romance addict enjoyed every. single. page.

I loved Lacey, her spunky lady lead, all her self-talk, her go-for-it attitude, and her complete fangirl obsession with her favorite rock star, Dante Falcone. She was all about her professional appearance and demeanor on the outside, but was also a fiery and passionate woman who didn't allow anyone to get the best of her or keep her from getting what she wanted. She wasn't afraid to take a risk to accomplish her goals and took humiliation coming up fighting! She had a great group of friends that had her back when things got a little crazy and whose personalities and dialogues added to the fun. I'm excited to know this is the first in a set of stories about these four friends.

And then there is Dante, the sex-on-a-stick rock star who has owned Lacey's fangirl heart since she was in junior high. Of course he's gorgeous, talented - and not just on the stage, and the stuff of dreams for millions of women everywhere. He's only 24, but he's been in the limelight for ten years, is just a bit jaded and a tired of the whole rock-n-roll scene of having a different girl on his arm every night. He's still has dreams he hasn't fulfilled and knows if he doesn't get off the tour bus and take control of his music again, he may never get his life back. So he hires the Media agency where Lacey works to change-up his marketing plan even when he hates being "handled". Being the rock god that he is he refuses their account rep, Brenda the Barracuda (Lacey's boss) and insists on Lacey, who is basically Brenda's assistant be his handler, mostly because he's sure she won't get in his way. But he doesn't count on the way she not only gets her way, but gets under his skin, and in his head because she gets him. The real him in a way no one else ever has and this is something he thought he'd never find. *sigh*

Aside from the crazy chemistry and romance going on with Dante and Lacey there is a two and a half week tour to be managed. This entails YouTube video webisodes to market the tour, an assortment of roadies and groupies, band members and managers, and jealous bosses to deal with. Rock It was just a great ride I'm so glad I decided to take. I rate this book with five stars!

So Dante Falcone. Child star from the Disney channel.
description

Becomes teen pop idol.

Now is pretty much a superstar.

Basically this book is the author’s fangirling fantasy involving Justin Timberlake, because even though Dante looks nothing like JT, look at above evidence. I enjoyed this book probably a lot more than I should have and am pretty sure I’m rating it a lot higher because of that. This book was literally a fangirl teenage dream of mine. What teen girl doesn’t want to end up with her celeb crush? Well, Lacey Dawes got to do just that.

Lacey has been in love with Dante Falcone since she first glimpsed him on the Disney Channel. Since then she’s followed every move he’s made and documented it in countless scrapbooks. Now as an adult, she works for a talent agency that just acquired Falcone. Through a series of very fortunate events, Lacey ends up working closely with the man she’s been swooning over for years.

This book was an extremely easy read. I flew through the chapters and was constantly entertained. Lacey was very likeable from the start and, for me, easy to identify with. How would you act if you came face to face with your idol? Dante took a little warming up. He was silent and brooding in the beginning but slowly opened up as the book went on. When he finally lets down his guard and starts teasing Lacey the real fun began.

Was this book believable? No. The situations were completely unrealistic. Do I think that it adds something to the new adult genre? Not really. But it was fun. And every once in a while you just need to read something that’s just fun. Simple as that.

While Billionaire Alpha-Males are my first true love, a Rocker-Alpha Males are my second. I had high hopes for this book that were quickly dashed.

Reading this book I did some of this...

bit of this

and a whole lot of this

This story was relatable to me because (gasp) I was a bit of a teenybopper in high-school... but it all fell apart for me at the contract signing.

I kept with it in hopes that it would pick up and it never did for me. I didn’t feel like there was any build up, angst or...well, drama. I felt that Lacey was a bit too stalkerish

I missed the tension as well- Dante ends up wanting Lacey immediately ...it just felt flat to me.

Over all, it was a cute story (not very spicy) and a fast read. Enjoyed the fact that this is a stand alone book and is wrapped up nicely

Received an arc from NetGalley for an Honest review:

This book is about fan girl meets her rock idol romance. Lacey Dawes is a fan girl in every sense of the word. Through her job with talent agency IMO Worldwide Media she is able to meet her teenage crush Dante Falcone. Through divine intervention (or the fact he wanted in that pencil skirt)he picks Lacey as the interim manager for his ongoing tour. And there ladies and gents is where there romance takes bloom.

The Good: What woman doesn't dream of having a relationship with a famous Actor/rocker? boy band-er ( New kids on The Block or Backstreet boys HELLO!. Who wouldn't want to be that girl in the ocean of fans who reforms that bad boy. In this the story captures that fantasy.

The Bad: She is basically obsessed and lives more in er head than anything else(no really). She has these fantasy scenarios with him that i think block the reality of who he really is. Her instant devotion really comes from nothing. Throughout the story he never did anything to earn these intense feelings. As for Dante's need to have her with him all the time, again the same question : Why? Sure he's comfortable with her but that's because this woman knows so much about him(she saved a scrapbook of his early yrs). Where is the angst and progression of feelings? The magic of words and actions were missing for me here. Hey i get the whole insta love scenario, i know it happens. But there has to be more to it than eye contact from across the room for me to believe it's there.

Dante, the boy is a huge flirt, "there's no rush for them to hurry back," he said, his words practically a purr. "Maybe we should get to know each other anyway. Any of those pictures you like in particular?" Dante he wants what he wants, "I don't want to meet with Brenda, I want to meet with you. Tonight, nine o'clock. We need to strategize how we can make the tour a success. You can even bring those blasted contracts for me to sign." I mean no one says no to him. "well, now you're going to have a lot to do taking care of me." He pointed a finger at the bus. "This is my bus?" he asked. At Lacey's nod, his grin got wider. "Then that's where you'll be, too." And Lacey knows how to take him over the edge, "honey, there's not 'try' to it," Dante said. "I'm ready to explode as it is - God, your hands. You're so good - so effing good." Dante he doesn't like his girl leaving his room, "what?" Dante pulled himself up against the pillows, staring at her now as she pulled her trousers back on. "What are you doing? You don't need to go anywhere, Lacey. I don't want you to go anywhere." And he can be very demanding, "tonight, I want you waiting for me in the bus," he said, and he couldn't tell by how she stiffened that she knew he was stating terms of her payment. "And I want you to be naked and ready for me. You think you can do that?"

yup...that's pretty much how I felt reading this book; like my 16-year old self dream come true. What a fun read!!!
I enjoyed this book immensely. The book tells the story of young Lacey, now grown up getting to meet her teenage idol through her job at IMO. Lacey has loved Dante as a teen -- the Dante she knew as a fan; now as an adult, she gets to meet the real thing. In turn, Dante falls for Lacey not aware what a super fan girl Lacey really was (or is).

Jennifer Chance manages to tell the story of two young people getting to know each other for who they truly are, vs. of who they think they are. As they fall in love, both discover new things about themselves, and get to figure out what they really want out of life. She also manages to make the characters interesting, multi-dimensional, and well-adjusted! hallelujah! Honestly, seems like all N/A books nowadays feature characters that are emotionally traumatized or damaged in some way, and the books seems to be riddled with torture and drama. This book as like a breath of fresh air. A nice, fun, quick, sexy read. (very sexy actually, without being crude or vulgar, yeay!)

I look forward to the next book in the series! Jennifer Chance as gained a new fan :).

So firstly I am a huge sucker for rock star books, and I pretty much inhale as many of them as I can...Now while I enjoyed this book, I cant say that I absolutely loved it...It was more of a fifty fifty for me.

Dante is a huge rock star and has been for the last 8 years....Lacey has been a fan and been in love with Dane since she was sixteen years old. She has written him over a hundred letters, been too tons of his concert and basically knows every living fact there is about him.... (I kinda could relate to that, because without giving my age away to much I felt the same way about New Kids on the Block in the day...)

She is now working for a talent agency where Dante is one of their biggest clients. Dante first notices Lacey the night before at one of his concerts and when he sees her in the conference room the next day, he immediately decides he wants her as his new manager.

Tired of all his one night stands and constant partying, he is convinced that Lacey is something different and all it took was one kiss for him to know he wanted her...

He however does not know that she is a walking Wikipedia page of all things Dante...

As I said although a okay read, not enough drama, angst for a rock star book for me....

Being introduced to Lacey Dawes, Junior Agent at top rated PR firm IMO, she reminded me way too close to Priscilla West’s character, Riley Hewitt in “Reckless.” A Jimmy Choo wearing girl working closely with the band, getting the hots for some bad boy rocker clad in leather. But shortly after, Lacey developed into her own character so I think it would be safe to say any fans of West’s should love Ms. Chance’s works as well. I did.

Now, back to the story. Lacey Dawes is torn between dream job and dream man. She’s wanted Dante Falcone since she was 14 years old, and now it seems that she may finally have him.

At a cost of course.

Sleeping with a client would be job suicide and Dante just so happens to be her client. And not just any client. Her very first client! He has the power to make or break her career. All she has to do is keep it professional and manage his tour for the next 14 days. Can she handle it?
Chance created a situation every girl would love to be thrown into, then mixed it up with catty groupies and sabotaging bosses. I loved following along with Dante and Lacey’s short time together. This was an adorable read with a happily ever after.

An ARC From Netgalley for an honest review.

Lacey and Dante have a sweet love story, complete with plenty of lusty moments. Its cute, a little unrealistic but entertaining nonetheless.

The Story:

Lacey Dawes has been a huge fan of Dante Falcone since she was teen. Now that the place she works is representing him, it feels as if her dream of meeting the rock god is coming true but when Dante picks her to be the interim manager on his Dream It tour, Lacey can’t believe her luck. Handling Dante is sure to be the most exquisite, spine-tingling, nerve-wracking mix of business and pleasure ever.

And though Dante is grateful for the fans who scream for one more of his full-throttle, soul-searing songs, being surrounded constantly by corporate types is starting to get old. Then Lacey shows up. She's professional and know what he wants before he realizes he wants. But he senses more from her then managing and after one amazing kiss he know what that some is and wants more of it.

Nice, sweet story.
Hope you enjoy
As always..... Happy Reading

Ok long story short?
It was just ok for me.
Lacey has been "in love" with Dante since he first became a star.
Dante doesn't want to deal with the exec's so the be a pain in the ass he hire's Lacey for 2 weeks to be his manager.
Yep they fall in love HEA.

There was some elements of this book I though could really take off, but sadly they didn't..
It was pretty predictable and calm.. not at all "rock star"

Dante was hard to like at first, luckily it's told in joint POV so we got into his head.
Lacey was ok. a bit too "inner monologuey" "should I/shouldn't I" for my taste.
Nothing kinda happens for a bit there too.. then it picks up again.

Also the sex could have been steamed up a bit.
Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with a great Blowjob scene, but it's all fingers, hand jobs and BJ's till like 70%.

The spiked Champagne and "Rockergrrl" were prob my fav parts, I will read on in the series though as the BFF Anna intrigued me and I want to see her get a date for the wedding! haha
